“When i give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a Communist.”
Have the economically poor benefited from the Obama presidency? Provide evidence their lives been made better

i am happy to see the poll here at Catholic Answers is overwhelmingly for Romney. however, this is a Catholic website so this poll does not reflect the rest of the country.
we can only pray that God’s will be done on November 6th as another poster stated.
i am looking forward to the debate Monday night and hoping it will shed more light on the right candidate to vote for for those who are undecided. i pray for our country and for all Americans that a brighter future is ahead. granted, a lot of work needs to be done, but i pray for a turn in the right direction.
I read on a post here, that we won´t end abortion until Catholics love the unborned more that the love Democrats. Are we there yet? God bless:thumbsup:👍👍

Although I’m a political junkie, me too! And, let’s hope, as painlessly as possible for either side. What I fear most (politically speaking, of course) is a split popular-electoral vote as in the 2000 race.
That´s not going to happen. As Florida goes, so goes Ohio. God bless:thumbsup:👍👍

I can remember a time, though, when the Post was a decent newspaper compared to the Daily News.
Yes. You and I go back a while. I also remember the Journal-American and the Herald Tribune, the latter an outstanding newspaper.

  1. *]Obama’s got a scowl. Romney has a smile.
*]Obama’s looking back over his shoulder. Romney is looking forward.
*]Obama’s headline is negative. Romney’s is positive.
*]Obama’s subtitle talks about “Romnesia”. Romney’s talks about overcoming challenges as a country.
*]Obama’s head is lower than Romney’s and is place in the lower center of his picture. That is about the worst place, composition-wise, to place it. Romney’s head, on the other hand, is placed at the ideal upper left 1/3 x 1/3 spot.
*]Obama’s crowd shows little energy. A fair chunk of them are looking elsewhere. Romney’s crowd have the arms raised reaching for the candidate and are focused on him. Only the bodyguards are looking away.
*]The top line of the paper speaks of Halloween and features a Jack-o-lantern. Which candidate looks more like a scowling Jack-o-lantern? And in case you missed the subtlety, which candidate is the Jack-o-lantern over?

Can we fulfill our obligation to help the poor and needy by voting for someone who promises to take other peoples money and do it for us?
I imagine that this is no worse than starting a war that we make future generations pay for.

But don’t you realize we are still making the world safe for democracy according to the Bush doctrine, which Obama has come dangerously close to adopting? Only G-d knows what Romney’s foreign-policy doctrine will be, if he is elected. I doubt Romney himself has any idea or interest.

Our money, too. I’d say yes, and supplement that with my personal contributions towards an obligation to help the poor.

Do you really think that if the government dropped all its aid to the poor, ordinary citizens would make up for it by themselves? I personally think not.

If it was accompanied by a proportional drop in taxes (I would imagine the top rate would be 10% or so), and it was clearly understood that this would be a non-governmental responsibility, I think absolutely yes.

And I think that all of us: donators, the poor, those providing the services would be hugely better off.

We always have our obligation to the poor. Of course, the question of how much should be done individually and how much should be done collectively has not been definitively defined by the Church.

You hypocrites! You say your pro-life but you support a candidate who will cut programs that help the poor! And also a candidate who does not respect the dignity of all people included the undocumented! It’s awesome you want to support anti-abortion candidate but for those calling Catholics who vote for Obama heretics should look at themselves in the mirror first. The Church calls us to vote by a formed conscience. You don’t have to be Republican to be a good Catholic!
You certainly can’t be a Democrat, considering their party platform supports abortion on demand, same sex marriage, taxpayer funded contraception, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, all programs that have been dogmatically defined by the Church as intrinsically evil.

You cannot meet your obligation to the poor by voting for someone who promises to steal money from one group of people and redistribute it to another. That is called theft and it is a mortal sin.

And since the inception of the War on Poverty, billions have been spend and the rolls of the poor have only increased. The only thing that system accomplishes is more voters for the Dems. When something has not worked to this extent, it is time to try something different.

I’m sure it’s too much to hope for the Florida vote not to be rigged again. We really need a national election commission to run our elections. There are several states which are known to try to fix the electoral results, both republican and democrat. Just depends on who is in power in that state.

“When i give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they it’s because Obama spent us into ruin.”

How do you propose helping the poor with no money? DO you have some sustainable resource we are unaware of?

No platitudes now - how will any social welfare program survive at the rate we are headed?

And how has Obama helped the poor? Have you seen the numbers? Do you even live in America? The poor is far worse off now under the thumb of the President.

You apparently equate helping others by writing nice speeches and doing nothing to actually help. That’s not getting anyone into Heaven.
