Megan, I’m not a catholic, but am a Christian. It is not wise to use something that you are unsure of. You don’t know the source of the spirits - no.1 Not all sources of the supernatural are truthful with you - no.2. Just as there are truthful and untruthful people, there exists the same parallel in the spiritual realm.
I think I have to agree with you. I am studying Wicca currently, and while I do not see Ouija boards as “bad”, I do not think they are something to be messed around with or played with (which is why I really don’t like the fact that it is sold as a “game” in stores). While some people may find it as useful tool (and I’m sure it can be if used properly), I think there are better ways of contacting the dead (such as praying).

I agree with ahimsaman72’s numbers 1 and 2 above. Another good example that I have read on other boards is to picture the ouija board as calling a random payphone in the mall. Except that this “phone” is going to keep ringing and ringing until someone “picks it up”. You have no clue who is going to eb on the other end of your “call”. There’s a good possibility this will result in grumpy/hostile spirits that don’t want to be bothered, or deceitful spirits that could be lying about who they are, among other things.

So while I don’t believe that ouija boards are bad in and of themselves, I think there are better ways to communicate with the dead.

i have been entered by an evil spirit and lemme tell ya it’s no fun, and i haven’t since then b/c i’ve learned to controll it.

Pardon my laughter, but I think this post just destroyed any belief I may have had in your original post.

But, I suppose I will play along and ask, what happened when you were “entered by an evil spirit”? How did you get rid of it and how do you know “control” it?

Sounds like an overactive imagination to me.

I have no idea how this can be a useful tool. How can anyone be sure who or what is being contacted. I suggest anyone who wants to use a ouji board see the excorsist first.

well i beg to differ lol… it is not a game for people to play w/ and i do NOT recommend anyone doing it unless they KNOW what they are doing because it IS dangerous. i was taught by my mother how to use it because she has supernatural power that she obviously has passed on to me. it’s all fun and games til somebody gets hurt… so DON’T DO IT UNLESS YOU’VE BEEN TRAINED OR KNOW HOW TO CONTROLL IT!!!
:rotfl: :banghead:

You will see my questions in my previous post regarding how to “control it”. What are your mother’s “supernatural” powers? I believe that everyone has the same potential to do the same as anyone else, so I don’t believe that anyone is “gifted” with anything better than anyone else (although some people may be naturally skilled at something). May I ask how old you are? If it’s so dangerous, why would your mother “train” you on it?

I don’t believe the ouija board is “evil” or has anything to do with “satan”, but I don’t think you should be toying around with it either (see my other post)

I said *some *people may. I don’t, because if you read the rest of my post I included that you don’t know who you are going to be contacted and chances are they won’t want to be contacted. I don’t think an excorsist is necessary either. Why not just pray to/for the spirits?

Hi BlessedBe13, you said it can be a useful tool if used properly.

That is in regards to divination, which I already know the Catholic Church teaches against (so know need to remind me).

However, once again, I feel that there are much more useful, productive, and safer ways of divination and talking to spirits than the ouija board, so I, myself, don’t recommend it.

Personally, I think the pointer is “moved” by the users own subconscious. They want it to work so much that their mind subconciously causes them to move it, and think that a “spirit” is actually talking to them.

Megan,

Someone mentioned your fear of confession. Do you attend mass regularly and receive the Eucharist? I am not asking for the sake of judging you - I am asking to see how extensive a fear you have of priests. Or to see if evil spirits are being succesful at keeping you away from practicing your faith and instead are leading you to practice the ouija board.

**i am also a junior member and i have had friends try to talk me into using ouiga boards. i would never use one, becuase i am terrified of what might happen. i once read a book called the ishbane conspiracy, and it spoke a lot about the use of ouija boards. basically what u are doing is contacting the devil or one of his demons and asking him to tell you what to do. my recommendation is to stay away from them at all costs, same as tarot cards, fortune tellers, you get the idea. **

ouija, tarot, etc are all ways in which we can let the enemy have power over us in our lives. the greatest illusion he gives us is that WE are controlling the forces that we see when using it. with all of the influence i can possibly use on this board (which, i know, is not much), i ask you to please stop using a ouija board, and to learn to use the gifts that God HAS given you for His glory, and your good.

it’s serious. it’s not just a game. i’ve heard dozens of stories of people who have had demonic posession or oppression in their lives, and it often started with ouija or tarot or something seemingly ‘innocent’.

i’m not one to look for a devil behind every noise at night. but ouija is not to be played with. i’m praying for ya.

God does not grant psychic abilities to anybody.

If you have them, you got them from Satan.

Satan will get you any way he can. Even through a board game.

You are in BIG trouble.

Souls don’t ‘hang out’ for a while. When you die, you go to Heaven, Purgatory, or Hell.

Megzy,

The fact that you are asking tells me that you have some doubt about the origin of this.

If reading the posts of the others on this board is not enough to change your mind then I have a suggenstion.

For one week put down the Oija board, do not use it at all. During this week instead use that time to pray. (in addition to your regular prayer time) God will guide you, pray for the gift of discernment. Pray that God will help you come up with the answer that he wants to give yout. Be totally open to whatever happens, and know that if God has given you a gift that he will give you a way to use it. If this gift turns out not to be from God, then know that he has other plans for you.

Suggestions for prayer other that the ones above are.

God will tell you what you need to know, just make sure that you are open to what he is saying.

I would also suggest that you pray for all of the spirits, all of the dead etc. Also, God can certainly let you know who needs to be prayed for without the use of the oija board. Not only is it commonly known to be a tool of evil, but God does not need a board to speak to those who are listening.

I was once told by someone who I consider to be very reliable, as well as others who know this to be the common truth that if you ask the oija board who controls it, it will say “Satan”. This is bad news. Has anyone else ever heard this, or experienced it?

You are in my prayers.

You have as much of a chance of contacting someone witha Ouija board as you do calling somone on the phone with a bananna.

I also highly recommend you don’t try calling someone with a bannana…:whacky:

My father once had a Ouija Board, and his encounters with it amazed me! I know that my dad is a moral, descent person and he’d never lie. This is what happened with his Ouija Board; He recalls seeing it rise up in front him, in midair! Also, my grandmother (who is also in her right mind and VERY healthy) said that one time the Ouija Board picked up her purse and floated. My grandfather claimed that one time at night when he was sitting on the couch and all was quiet, he heard footsteps but no one was there. He asked the board who it was, it it responded that it was one of his dead aunts! One time, the board’s stick pointed to the air conditioner (or vent) and the message said that demons were coming in the house from there! If I remember any other of the weird things I’ll post them. After strange occurences such as lights flickering on and off without an explanation (and probably more), my grandfather finally took the board, broke it in half and threw it in the trash. After that, I believe the strange occurences stopped. Call me crazy, but I believe this. The Ouija Boards DO have real evil power that is influenced by demons, and must be avoided.

Quija boards should not be used. They go against the first commandment. I remember back in High School, I used to read Tarot Cards, until I saw the exorcist for the first time. She used a Quija board and basically invited the Devil in. After that, I was through with the new age stuff.

Clearly a “gateway” activity. Why open the door for evil? IHS Daryl

Ok Megzy,

It seems that nobody is going to persuade you that the Devil is trying to mislead you. I’m not going to quote Biblical verses showing how communicating with spirits is a sin. However, if you truly love God, I don’t think it will be too hard to do what I recommend here. If the Ouija board is not a conduit to evil, then this will not do anything; but, if the Ouija board is indeed evil, then you will see it.

First, get some holy water if you don’t already have some (this is not absolutely necessary; but it is very helpful).

Second, place the Ouija board in front of you.

Third, if you have Holy Water, sprinkle some across the Ouija board.

Fourth, make a sign of the cross above the Ouija board and say the following prayer:

"In the name of Jesus Christ, and by the power of His Blood and His Cross, I bind all spirits in the air and the fire, in the water and the ground, in the underground and in the netherworld. I bind all satanic forces in nature. I bind all curses, hexes and spells, witchcraft and occult activity. I bind the interaction and interplay of all spirits. I claim the protection of the shed Blood of Jesus Christ over myself and anyone else who attempts to use this Ouija board.

I now call Michael the Archangel and his army of angels to surround, fill and protect this place (name the place). I praise God for all of his heavenly angels. I call lthem forth now and release them to surround and fill us with God’s power and blessings, in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen."

Do that prayer and you will see that you’re dealing with evil forces, and not with God.

Please take my advice and do this simple prayer!
