I think I have to agree with you. I am studying Wicca currently, and while I do not see Ouija boards as “bad”, I do not think they are something to be messed around with or played with (which is why I really don’t like the fact that it is sold as a “game” in stores). While some people may find it as useful tool (and I’m sure it can be if used properly), I think there are better ways of contacting the dead (such as praying).Megan, I’m not a catholic, but am a Christian. It is not wise to use something that you are unsure of. You don’t know the source of the spirits - no.1 Not all sources of the supernatural are truthful with you - no.2. Just as there are truthful and untruthful people, there exists the same parallel in the spiritual realm.
I agree with ahimsaman72’s numbers 1 and 2 above. Another good example that I have read on other boards is to picture the ouija board as calling a random payphone in the mall. Except that this “phone” is going to keep ringing and ringing until someone “picks it up”. You have no clue who is going to eb on the other end of your “call”. There’s a good possibility this will result in grumpy/hostile spirits that don’t want to be bothered, or deceitful spirits that could be lying about who they are, among other things.
So while I don’t believe that ouija boards are bad in and of themselves, I think there are better ways to communicate with the dead.
