And personally, the most fullfilling aspect of my life is finding someone who loves me, can share a lifetime commitment with me and share the joys of having children.
The last part is in ordinary circumstances connected with the marriage of man and woman. The first part need not be sexual.
The last part is open to anyone. Whatever sex they are and whether they are married or not. The first part invariably is sexual.

I’m not sure that the subject of adolescent suicide should be referred to in such a fashion.
You’re the one who brought Taiwan in, a country dominated by Eastern religions.

How many Americans have never had sex?
Thor - not sure what point is made by the observation that sex prior to/outside marriage between man and woman is common.
The point is that 99% of Americans have sex by age 44 and 95% even had sex before marriage, including those now in their 70s, despite the fact that this was discouraged in the past. It shows how important sex is to most people. So, it’s no surprise that most gay people don’t take anyone seriously who tells them that they should live their life without ever having sex.

I really could care less what religions are the most prominent. None of the examples that were shown mentioned religion at all, least of all Abrahamic ones.

We are talking about the affect that Catholic beliefs might have on young gay people because this is a Catholic forum with people posting Catholic views and Catholic members are suggesting that being gay is a negative thing and the inclinations it brings are comparable to acts which I will not repeat.

Anyone who thinks that will not have a negative psychological effect on gay adolescents has their head in the sand.

Your Taiwan example showed your attempts to blame Catholics for any trends in LGBT vs. non-LGBT suicides isn’t solid.

Yet again, none of the examples mentioned religion and no attempt was made to associate the increased suicide rate in LGBT kids to religion. They were brought up to point out that there is a problem when it comes to gay kids. For whatever reason.

And surely it cannot be beyond anyone’s comprehension that the suicide rate is higher because the kids feel different. And that that difference is being held to be a negative one. By their peers or by adults they trust or many believers of any religion you want to mention.

If you think it’s ok to tell adolescents that what they feel, effectively who they are, is wrong, then you are free to acknowledge that. I am free to tell you that it is a dangerous position to take.

They don’t have to explicitly mention religion. Why? You can check the demographics yourself with a search engine.

Do you ever get bored of blaming Catholics for suicides or somehow making it more likely or compounding it when you can’t even offer the evidence for that?

I find it tedious having to point out that some comments regarding homosexuality are less than loving and may well result in gay adolescents becoming depressed by something over which they have no control.

I find it tedious some keep using Catholics as boogeymen.

Well, wait here for a while and I’ll find a site that discusses Protestant views about homosexuality and I’ll point out exactly the same arguments to them. Or to a Muslim site or to a Jewish site. Or to a Democratic one or a flat earth one or my local bee keepers forum.

Anyone who talks about gay adolescents in a negative way will get those arguments. As it turns out, we’re on a Catholic site and some Catholics are doing it. They will get the arguments and those who exhibit nothing but a loving and caring attitude won’t.

Catholocism isn’t the problem. It’s how some Catholics interpret it.

But Catholicism teaches homosexual acts are sinful. I think you made the claim that somehow communicating that makes the lives of LGBT people miserable.

What demographics are you talking about? Not that long ago, most Americans of all faiths, especially more conservative ones, looked upon homosexuality unfavorably.

Thanks be to God for this election in Poland!

As for the final result of the LGBT agenda? Pedophilia and Euphebophilia! Mark my words!

If you want to look into the Gay Agenda read “After the Ball” by Marshall Kirk

And Baptists teach that homosexuality is sinful, too (I should know because I was raised Baptist). And Baptists kids who are taught that homosexuality is a terrible sin and that unrepentant homosexuals will go to hell and then turn out to be gay when they hit puberty definitely feel miserable as a result.

No. You won’t find that in any post I have made. I fully accept that homosexual acts are immoral as far as the church is concerned and as far as you are concerned. Just as sex outside marriage and contraception is considered a sin. I don’t agree with any of those views but I support your right to hold to those views.

But go back in the thread and you will find that homosexuality in itself is spoken of in a negative way. That the thoughts that gay people have are comparable to thoughts that the detritus of our society have.

To be honest, this thread has been relatively respectful. Including your posts. But some I have been involved with have resulted in comments that I won’t repeat. That compare gay people to things I won’t repeat. That the people involved would not dare say in a face to face situation.

And young gay people read these comments. They hear it being discussed. They hear the odious comparisons. And it has an effect.

All I ask is for people to think before they speak. To pause before they hit the Send button. To consider the effects of what they say.

There’s a difference in not finding it and being told that you can’t look.

And personally, the most fullfilling aspect of my life is finding someone who loves me, can share a lifetime commitment with me and share the joys of having children. All else is secondary.

Imagine being told that this is one of the greatest gifts in life…but not for you.

I’m not Catholic. I thought that was clear. Maybe not.
