Got that crystal ball out now, do ya? Be has an opinion on the subject, just as you do. The thread was posted to get a response, correct? So, should all the responses proceed in lock-step with hard core traditionalists? As some one aptly pointed outā€¦(netli(name removed by moderator), I believe)ā€¦this is a discussion boardā€¦BE gave her opinionā€¦you disagreeā€¦how about letting go of that bone for minuteā€¦youā€™ll feel better.

Living in New York, you must have missed the news report when the Mayflower Madam got busted. I donā€™t recall her girls wearing any ā€œhooker pantsā€ā€¦to me they looked like Donna Karan or Vera Wang dresses, with a few Armanis thrown in for measure. They are prostitutes just the same. But if one of the women walked in your church, you would have been none the wiser. And the Pharisees, thought John the Baptist was a raving lunatic the way he dressed and lived in the woods. Go figure.

It is not the traditionalists on non traditional thinking that gets folks on these boards in hot waterā€¦itā€™s the EXTREMIST positions they take, they send the thread spiralling out of control. Think about it.
Hey, I agree wholeheartedly! The problem with some of the people on this forum have is this:šŸ‘ they think that if someone disagrees with something, then they must be here to start trouble!! That is ludicrous! I cant believe that adult catholics are threatening ā€œim gonna put you on my ignore list, im gonna put you on my ignore list. ha ha ha haā€ im sorry who needs to grow up? another thing i just want to say in reply, ā€œI am rubber you are glue, everything that I say bounces off of me and sticks to youā€

There is no dress code as far I as know coming to Mass.
As it has already been pointed out, there IS a dress code for Marilenaā€™s church. It is most likely attached to the front door. My Church has theirs on the front door. It is not a dress code per se but it asks that who ever enters this church dress modestly & respectfully as you are in the presence of Our Lord.

This is the Traditional Catholic forum were we talk about traditional stuff, not the new liberalism that is sweeping all the churches that includes dressing.
I do not think that this is about traditional stuff. The topic for traditional stuff was about attire.

Now the topic is about ganging up on a person that might be either right or wrong. This now is becoming about deciding for her what her intentions were and bashing her for something that she did (correctly according to her priest).

I would understand bashing her for stating to be an SSPX in a Roman Catholic Forum, but that it is not what is happening. She is being told that what she did is a grave or venial matter; however I do not see any theological explanation/reference for that (I already asked for that but the specific posters decided to ignore me and kept making sweep statements).

Once you beat too much a dead horse, you cannot even use it for meat anymore. When I look at most of the posts my question is Qui prosit?

Who needs a crystal ball when thereā€™s been like five people POSTING in agreeance?

BE can have whatever opinion she likes, Iā€™m free to call a spade a spade, ainā€™t freedom of speech great? You feel perfectly comfortable calling me to the carpet. I havenā€™t insulted be so far sheā€™s called me jaded and a horses ***.

Anyway let it go I already have her on ignore, no reason to add fuel to the fire.
You 5 people need to get a hobby!!!

I never said correcting this women was sinful, you didnā€™t read my post correctly. It did remind me of the scripture, read that however you want.
OK, so you are saying it was not sinful. But it was wrong. Perhaps misguided?
I am pointing out itā€™s wrong to correct and judge how people come to Christ. Thank God she came and maybe after going over time she will catch on. That one correction might have lost a soul my friend, I donā€™t care how gently it was said.
No one is telling anyone how to come to Christ. What she did tell was that one ought not dress immodestly, especially, in Church. That information needs to be relayed. You may disagree with it, but claiming it would make someone stumble seems far fetched. You can draw that conclusion every single time and in every single instance of correction.

The problem is not always the corrector, but may be that the correctee is unwilling to change.

This thread kind proves why Protestantism stills exists and thrives. The more modern Protestant and non-denominational churches donā€™t give a rat about what you wear to church, they are just super excited that people are there. Itā€™s the sick that need the doctor, not the healthy. In fact, one of the local Protestant churches around here goes and recruits prostitutes, drug addicts, etcā€¦to get them to hear the Gospel. I assure you they donā€™t have veils and skirts, but probably skin tight pants they got from the dollar store. Did Jesus go and talk to the well-dressed Pharisees or did he go talk to what the world considered scum?

Secondly, God doesnā€™t give two poops if youā€™re wearing a skirt or skin tight pants, he cares about your underlying intentions and soul. If this woman was wearing tight pants to be sexual or to attract men, then God disproves, if the woman had no other clothes or didnā€™t understand, then God have mercy on her.

What did happen to the people that were invited to the feast but showed up with the improper attire?

Ignorance of Scripture is Ignorance of Christ.
St. Jerome

Marilena, if I may ask, what is the dress code at your church? (I think you said it somewhere in one of these posts but Lord knows which page it was on.šŸ˜ƒ )

Head coverings, skirts below the knee and no bare arms for women.

I have thought about itā€”and what does send the discussion out of controlā€”is when wearing modest clothes that reflect our respect for our Lord in His houseā€“is turned into an extremist position by the liberal element.

the dress code is that women wear long sleeves on dresses or blouses, long skirts or dresses below the knee, and a head covering, be it a hat or a mantilla, or scarf. men wear suits, or dress pants and and long sleeves over their elbows. no jeans.
men do not wear t shirts to our Mass, they wear long sleeved
dress shirts. or a plain long sleeved shirt.

I have to admit, I wonder if there is something personal going on in this thread. People seem to be taking this subject to much to heart. The Op isnā€™t suggesting that we all follow her churchā€™s stance on clothing.

Marlenaā€™s church has rules. A young woman dressed inappropriately. She was not removed from the church, nor was she publicly reproached. Instead, she was asked to kindly remember that this type of church has a dress code. This was done after the services What is so bad about that?

Many of us attend churches without such codes. That is fine. But if you chose to attend a church with such rules why would you be offended if anyone approached you afterwords and explained the dress code?

I guess that I am not understanding the anger expressed here on the forum.
