I do apologize for butting in, but I was under the impression that it is God’s Church.

Noone is arguing that the woman ought to have shown better judgment when dressing that morning.
You are correct. I only said Marlena’s church to differentiate it from other Catholic Churches. It gets wordy if I keep writing, “The particular church that the OP attends.” Don’t you think so?. 😛

This thread is causing people to have very passionate reactions and I am not certain why.

I, myself, am pretty laid back when it comes to what others wear but I don’t see anything wrong with "The particular church that the Op attends,🙂 " setting its own dress standards.

Still, I will apologize if I have offended anyone. I don’t think that I have been rude but if I accidentally worded something wrong, I will apologize right now.

Now, let’s go start a joke thread so that we can release all this tension.

Here’s a great big cyber group hug to you all!!!

is it perhaps because it is an SSPX chapel? i dunno. iam beyond speculating. people have a right to their opinions.

I wonder if I could get 500 posts regarding a young man that I saw at Mass with baggy pants??👋

Only if they were so baggy that they hung down far enough to reveal his undies. 😃

I know the kind of pants the OP referred to – I once saw a woman wearing these (literally looked spray-painted on) – this was in a store, not in church, and the sight was still startling. I didn’t say anything to her. I guess what she wants to wear to go shopping is her own business. I can honestly say I have never seen anyone wear pants like that in church.

Some ladies will pay no attention to you if you tell them their clothing is immodest, but they may be concerned about how good/bad they look. So as a public service announcement, I offer the following:

[sign]
Ladies, if you weigh any more than 70 pounds, you don’t look good in those skin-tight pants. Yes, they make your derriere look fat!
[/sign]

If you can say in your heart, He is there under the appearances of bread and wine, then you do know and in your heart of hearts rejoice in knowing.

With Christ’s promise to Peter and the faithful teaching you have upheld in CCD you know we have communion with Him. If you are weary and I am too often weary, go to Him in prayer, in adoration, in confession, and ascend then to communion.

He will not make the problems disappear, but He will refresh our spirit and I believe He will reward us with an increase in faith, hope and charity.

mike
(btw I’m talking to myself more than you, but your honesty reached out and grabbed me)
peace
This was very sweet Mike, I was about ready to respond as well but you said it better 🙂

Edit: I should add Julianna…I’m so sorry to hear most of your family get going to Mass 😦 Your post was very telling. There are certain Catholics that unfortunately push people right out of the Church. Sorry for the off topic comment :o

PM me Julianna if you want 🙂

You know I take offense at this…as I am sure others will too…
but I really did not expect you to let this slide without throwing someone under the bus…
If you let someones comments/views etc. drive you out of the church or push you out of the church… then I have to ask…how strong was your faith to start with???

It was throwing people under the bus I agree and not needed…

Like I said before if you stop your quest for God because someone asked you not to wear hot pants to Church I will question your level of sincerity and start to think it’s really just a pity party.

People drive themselves from the Church, not other people who don’t want hot pants and sexually revealing dressed people at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for obvious reasons.

Maybe mention of adultery and abortion make some uncomfortable and drive them from the Church because of their pride, should we stop teaching in the sinfulness of these actions because of that? Anyone who leaves a faith because they were told to stop dressing revealing to Mass is way too sensitive and looking for pity IMO.

It’s easy to tell that this comment is directed to the outspoken trads who are sick of the liberal leanings of the NO Catholics.
I see clearly that you feel you have a right to attack, but you don’t want any response in return.

Why do you take offense at this? The comment was not made to you  don’t always assume a post is about you my friend…it makes for a lighter heart 😉 I was speaking in general terms referring to Julianna’s family. I was actually thinking of clergy as well when I wrote that, probably should have put that.

I have to disagree with you on the topic of “driving people out” there have been many people over many years who were horrible wounded by the Church and they were very devout Catholics. This is why we have offices in some dioceses which deal with just this subject. OnceCatholic.org is a good example, if you want to read about what a struggle it’s been for people. It’s a web site devoted to helping those come back.

Not sure if I have that website right or if it’s still there but it’s wonderful to read. 🙂

Maybe because it sounds just like one more dig towards a certain group of people here.

Please don’t assume I was referring to anyone on this thread…there is no need. Her post stuck out for me that’s all.

but did you ever think maybe this woman didn’t have any other clothes to wear to mass? (im sure she did, but just an example…)

i’m sure Jesus will still love you, no matter how tight your pants are…

I can’t believe this thread is still going. It’s been beat to death!
And Marilena along with it.

after some thought, perhaps the post is too long an dneeds to be closed. :twocents:

And had you continued your underlining of my post you would have seen that I was not suggesting nothing be done.

I accept your apology with thanks and good will.
I understand what you thought should have been done. My point was the OP talking directly to her sister in Christ at mass was not imprudent.

Why is this thread so long? I think because topics like this one, and related threads, generate heat because they are symptoms of deeper concerns. I contend they go to a bigger and deeper issue.

Actually if you go back up and read what you wrote you said that
you are claiming that prudence dictates to do nothing in such cases?
This is that about which we have been politely speaking.

I absolutely agree with your contention about heat generated because of deeper concerns about bigger and deeper issues.
