Just to clarify, not a Catholic Bishop, nor was the pastor Catholic. Not sure about the nun. She doesn’t look like a Catholic religious sister. 🤷

Did you see the signs “Citizenship now”? It’s this kind of hubris that makes people’s blood boil. When you have family members who worked hard and waited many years to come here legally and then waited more years to get citizenship, the idea that illegals should be rewarded for breaking the law with instant citizenship is heinous.

So the whole idea of the USA being a land of immigrants goes off the wall huh? Why can they get away with it, and be called fathers of the country, is it bc they are white, from European descent? These people who the majority are hard working that come from Latin American can’t get the same treatment?

She is. Catholic Worker. Occupy Catholics.

I’m in favor of immigration reform. IMHO, radical feminist nuns don’t really help, as the alienate a lot of Catholics who would otherwise join in.

Actually, my family members came from Latin America and came here** legally. ** Being white or European is not part of the discussion. And I don’t think many of the fathers of this country came here illegally either. To compare colonists to illegal immigrants is to demonstrate a gross lack of historical knowledge.

I am not against immigration reform. But any effort to regularize the status of illegal immigrants should happen ONLY after the lists are cleared and all of those in process to immigrate legally have been allowed to. Nor should illegal immigrants be given a “pass” on the background checks that those entering legally must clear. Any “path to citizenship” for an illegal immigrant should be longer than that for a legal immigrant - not instant or “citizenship now” as the linked article demonstrates.

Oh, and I know people who waited for over 10 years to immigrate here legally AFTER passing all of the immigration and background checks. Some have died while on the list. This is what needs to be reformed first and foremost. Not handing out citizenship as a reward for breaking the law.

You be ashamed of being from Latin America. Just b/ c our people cannot get legal status does not mean I’m out here trying to be an a** to them. Look, you should know that in our home countries theirs not any real rules, it’s filled with corruption. So for them to be able to better their situation they’ll do whatever they can to better their situation.

How do you know that the early fathers didn’t come here illegally, probably not them but their parents were. You have to remember was only natives, so for whites to have been here they needed to immigrate.

There is no parallel between illegal immigration and the colonization of what later became the United States. Immigration started to be a legal process by the end of the 19th Century. Millions of immigrants have entered legally, going through a process and even paying a “head tax” since then.

I agree that Latin Americans should get the same treatment as those millions of immigrants.

But you gotta see that those men came here illegally, you can argue well the land didn’t have any laws, but these men that came, brought a lot of killings to the natives, so their actions was right? They were right bc they made this the USA?

Cool. Show demonstrate what laws the settlers from Europe broke.

There was killing on both sides…and, yes, there were no immigration laws. Where did the “natives” come from? Ah…the were immigrants, too. 🙂

Where did you see that she was a radical feminist? Also is there this new thing where if you’re a nun, you’re automatically presumed to be a heretic and a radical feminist? Can’t even remember the last time I saw a positive depiction of a nun here and this is supposed to be a Catholic forum. Seems unfair to say the least. 😦

Your catholic, the commandments say thou shall not kill, so now your saying bc there were no rules here, they had the liberty to kill? Just bc there was no laws it did not give those men the right to take over and kill a lot of natives. So are you going to be like today’s society, ah it was ok since there was no laws.

I looked her up and read her FB postings.

We are talking about immigration laws, yes? Do you want to rehash all of human history, instead?

But this was there land, they were here first. Just like many here say this is “their land”,

Can you imagine if these same people had disrupted things outside an abortion clinic? Would the secular media have given them the same amount, and same kind of coverage if they were prolife? Some protests like this one, promoting the media’s agenda, are scheduled to be convenient with the media; some are probably scheduled by the media.

So they were justified in their actions because we can’t point to a law that says they couldn’t do that? Come now.
We are talking about immigration laws. There weren’t any, therefore they weren’t illegal immigrants. Starting in the late 19th Century, we had federal immigration laws. Millions of people have immigrated legally, waited in line, followed the law. Why do you think it is unfair for others to do the same?
