People spew venom at Ted Cruz over photo with deer he hunted: 'You're not a Human Being

I don’t know, if you don’t mind someone tweeting mean tweets about your wife, or dad, then mean tweets about deer hunting shouldn’t bother you.

My dad was a butcher and deer season he often did moonlighting to turn hunted deer into cutlets and filets and roasts (I’m not sure if deer roast exists 🤔)
 
And these kinds of animal poaching stories get a lot of press. Most hunters enjoy the woods and the sport along with the fact if they actually shoot something, they get a lean cut of meat for their families. Some bad apples are out there.

I realize I may not be a typical liberal. The thing is, many liberals aren’t typical liberals either. Many blacks are liberals and also big supporters of gun rights. Many liberals in the mountain west are gun rights supporters. Believe it or not, some of us are anti abortion. Some want legal restrictions on immigrants. Some even want smaller government.

I’m tired of some conservatives placing everyone into little boxes and not realizing they may have more in common than they think. I also know some conservatives don’t fit in their little boxes, either! We need to open our ears and minds a bit more and quit looking at the “other” as being against anything you’re for…and vice versa! ☮️

Weird… here in Minnesota it’s not very often that you find private land that isn’t posted. Mainly, we don’t want people hunting our land without us knowing.

It’s different than beef. It can have a gamey taste to it that some object to and because it’s so lean, it needs to have either fat added or slow cooked to keep it moist and tender. Many cuts are delicious when wrapped in bacon! Venison stew is delicious and it also makes excellent jerky.

You may not like boxes but there are boxes that some fit into especially when it comes to hunting.
Liberals do not like hunting of fishing…

That’s definitely true in Colorado and Wyoming. But, both have large areas that are public domain and even ranchers that use those properties can’t post it…even though some have tried!
 
I enjoyed it growing up. I still hunt on occasion and if I harvest an animal I give the meat to family members. I married a semi vegetarian(no red meat or pork) so I don’t eat red meat that often. I don’t know if it’s the abstinence or just getting older, but me and red meat don’t agree with each other anymore☹️

You have to get used to gamey taste but really it is much better cut… When people hunt or grow animals to eat, they learn a respect for the animal, how much work goes into raising it and so instead of l pound steak, they are content with smaller pieces.

They used to have the public domain areas in Massachusetts until the democratic government got involved.

IKR! Seems if you say anything that’s not 100% positive about hunting or guns, then you’re automatically a bleeding heart liberal! I can think of several things wrong with our gun laws and our hunting laws yet, I support (and donate, btw) guns and hunting. There can be honest criticism of both and still be in favor of both…except in some peoples minds! :hugs:

No because for years, hunters and fishermen have been badgered by others in that what they are doing is wrong and they get sick of it. Liberals want to pretend.
 
Notice he keeps making a sweeping statement of Liberals instead of modifying his position to realize that Many or Some Liberals. And thus assume I must be pretending! I think I’ll exit this thread now. I’ve made my point. Good discussion, though!
