The fear was that the mass Catholic Irish immigration would destroy Christian culture through this mass immigration and high birth rates .
The Irish believed that Jesus was the Son of God. The Irish assimilated and married into the native population. The Muslims do not believe in the divinity of Jesus. They do not assimilate. And when the men marry Christian women, the women are told to convert. You’re comparing apples and oranges.

Doesn’t Canada have a points system where richer, more educated applicants are given more points and therefore higher priority?

Same thing goes for Australia. Australia also has a detention facility in one of its offshore islands, yet no controversy on the same scale as the detention facilities in the US.
In essence, they prioritize the H2B workers.

As opposed to America where we let H2B workers who want despriatly to get on the immigration path wait at minimum 5 years with current rates at 10-25 years of applying every year.

You’re also comparing apples and oranges, for you seem to be conflating the pre-migration FEARS vs the post-migration REALITY. Yes, the Irish and Muslim cultures are different, and sometimes in significant ways. But the fact is, people really DID fear the Irish, hate them, and think they were going to destroy the Protestant American culture they were coming to invade. Only after the fact did the anti-Irish sentiment die down and people saw that the Irish could “assimilate” in a way deemed acceptable.

So the situation is similar: You have the fears and bias, but perhaps actually getting to know real Muslim folk and families will prove you wrong, as did happen with the Irish.

Again, do you even KNOW what the Vatican IS?
Yes I do. But that is irrelevant. Who are people to tell the US they should just let people come in illegally and be provided for by its citizens? People are knowingly breaking a just law. My family followed the law to come here the others need to do the same. By your own rationale Vatican City has no moral authority to deny anyone who wants entry either. America is hemorrhaging money and is $20 trillion in debt.

I’m English. We’re surrounded by Muslim families. I know many of them. I don’t dislike individuals but I hate the religion. I hate the religion because I know what it teaches about my Faith. And I know that Islam will eventually supplant Christianity in England. I can see the future and it isn’t good.

I know several legal immigrants, among them refugees, who agree with you.

So hate the religion, and don’t hate the people.

I find it suspicious you would say you are fine with the people and yet don’t want them around you.

Good, the Vatican is irrelevant. I’m glad you see this now. It’s not a political government in charge of a nation of 300 million.

I know of a British astrophysicist who tried several times to immigrate here only to get denied.

He is now in Australia.

Quite sad.

The migrants aren’t from Mexico, but from El Salvador, Honduras, etc. Mexico gives them passage through their nation and deposits them on America’s doorstep.

When they come into America, why not ask them if they would rather seek asylum in Canada and just give them passage to our northern frontier?

Canada has a lot more social services available, single payer healthcare, more generous welfare checks. A lot to be said for our friends to the north

You won’t find it suspicious when I tell you that the ‘Muslims’ I know all drink beer. They’re only Muslims in name. I only have an issue with the Muslims who follow the religion.

Weren’t there headlines a few months back about Canada complaining about too many people walking over to the Canadian border from the US?

The Canadians talked about the need for these people to respect their laws.

No one took them to task for it.

Now if the US says the same thing, we get a scolding from the Pope himself.

Yes I do. But that is irrelevant.
Not the Vatican but the point of it being a city state. They are a sovereign nation and have laws just like everyone else that they enforce. Why should people follow the Vatican’s laws if it doesn’t suit their purpose? What right does the Vatican have to make and enforce their own laws?

By stating you’re fearful of the mass immigration of noneuropean immigrants. Or wanting stricter laws on Muslim migration to Europe

Or wanting stricter laws on Muslim migration to Europe
That’s really up to the folks in each European country as to what they want as far as immigrants. Some countries, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary, have put up barriers to immigrants

Yes, for one of the three categories. Refugees are taken in based on true need. Spouses, children, and to a more limited degree, parents, are taken in based on sponsorship. The third category is based on “points” such as education. I don’t know the exact breakdown but there’s a certain quota for each category each year.
