Any many miney moe, pick any Republican Obamas got to go.

Except for Paul that is, we don’t want to fix this country, just don’t want to screw it up as fast as Obama.
I will vote for Paul if he is the nominee, which he wont be.

I actually almost hope that Obama wins a second term. I want America to get a wake up call and be reminded that votes matter. And maybe the GOP will get the point to stop putting these lousy candidates in front of the voters for public consumption. Because even if the GOP manages to win the White House, keep the House of Reps, and take the Senate, I have very little faith that Roe will be overturned under their watch, or that a meaningful budget will be passed, or that anything will be done to reign in the Fed. They will nibble around the edges of these issues and then blame the Democrats for not getting anything done. The Democrat, on the other hand, will turn low income people on their head and say the reason why they are worse off is because Republicans hate the poor. And so it will go, on and on and on. These two parties are nothing if not predictable.
Unfortunately we don’t “put these lousy candidates in front of the voters.” The candidates put themselves up and if they get support both financial and votes, they continue toward the primary and then the general. We had seven candidates to begin with and now down to three Republicans and a Libertarian. Were there none in that group you could support? The perfect candidate does not exist and so many who were thought to be this great hope (Perry, Cain) proved to be flawed in significant ways.

As to your first statement, it truly saddens me that anyone would think so little of the horrendous impact of Obama in a second term when he isnt’ worried about the next election. THis man has nearly destroyed the country IMO and another term means the Supreme Court will turn into a cadre of elitists who dishonor the Constitution. Kagen and Sotomayer were NOT quality appointments and I shudder to think what’s next.

I’d be fine with any of the three Republicans running. Cannot accept Paul due to the isolationist and IMO rather unsubstantiated theories about other countries’ intent toward us and the free world. No they aren’t perfect but I’d accept pretty much anything but Obama.

Lisa

So do the leftist secularists who are waging war on the catholic church.

This election is about stopping Obama’s assault on the Catholic church. Pick a side.

Ishii
This election is not about the Catholic Church. It’s about the assault on our country, and both sides that have or have had power are to blame.

You think a silly little thing like a vote is going to stop the persecution of the Church? :rotfl: Pay attention to Jesus. They persecute us BECAUSE we are of Christ and they hate Him, therefore they hate US. That’s how it works. No slave is above his master. We need to stop thinking that playing politics is going to stop something that was put in place by God Almighty. Stop praying for the persecution to end. Pray for strength to deal with it when it comes knocking on your door.
Actually I beleive that any of the Republican canbdiates will stop the current assault on the Church. As Ishi said , pick a side. Standing on the sidelines throwing stones at everyone will not help. Ron Paul is not going to be the nominee. You have to decide if you are going to support the GOP nominee or help Obama be re-elected.

Did I mention any candidates specifically? I haven’t “propped up” any particular candidate in nearly two months. I am talking about parties. Both parties suck in equal portion. 🤷

Or we can decide to reject the whole concept of the oft repeated false dichotomy, as the Catholic Church does, allowing a broader range of thought. I have drank the GOP kool-aid once too often.

No they dont Scott. the Republcian party is far superior to the democrat party in every way, both from a fiscal and a social issues standpoint. You have to pick a side or others are going to make the choice for you.

Like I said, it’s not about fixing the country, it’s about beating Obama. Worthy cause, misguided but worthy.
Ya, pretty much. Whomever is the GOP candidate, if he wins, there will be much rejoicing. Then, in 2 years, not much will have changed and people will be left scratching their heads. Not me. I will be pointing and laughing. Yes, even if Ron Paul wins the GOP nod and goes on to beat Obama. i have come to figure out that much. Paul would have to try to work with both a GOP and Democrat party that will be hostile to his Administration. To me, our country would be worse off if Paul were president. Congress would be fighting with itself AND with the President. People would clamour about “gridlock in DC”. I will come back here and remind everyone (if I don’t end up getting myself kicked out of here) that this is what you get when party politics is more important than principle.

You are allowed a large range of thought as long as that thought doesnt lead you to vote for a pro-abortion canidate. The only reason Party even comes into the discussion is becuase the Democrat Party has so embraced the culture of death it is nearly impossible to find a Democrat canidate to vote for.

I worked for the McCain campaign 4 years ago. Others still made the choice for me. 🤷

You really believe that or just hyperbole? Republicans are not saints and the Big Government Republicans overspent and overmeddled in our lives. But it was the Dems ALONE who foisted that monstrosity of a healthcare bill. It was Democrats who foisted off that horrible Dodd Frank disaster. Both need to be repealed. Democrats are heavily engaged in crony capitalism,…Solyndra anyone? And there are plenty more. Democrats have a long term strongly held support for abortion at any time for any reason. Democrats want people living off and thus controlled by government. Democrats support same sex marriage. Democrats are behind the current HHS mandate. Democrats are against developing our natural resources, natural gas, oil and coal.

I could go on but heavens, do you really think the parties are the same? I think four more years of Obama and there is no going back. He is the worst disaster this country has experienced and every day we are reminded of the 08 mistake.

Then why vote at all? We live in a republic. Vote against the guy waging war on the catholic church so he’ll be replaced by guys who aren’t waging war against the catholic church. And pray for strength to deal with it when it come knocking - if it comes knocking at your door.

I refuse to lump together the secular left which is assaulting the Catholic Church and the other side - which I take to mean Romney, Santorum, the GOP, et al. Obama has done us a big favor with his HHS mandate : he has laid out for all to see what he is really about. He has demonstrated that he is not “just another politician” that is part of the problem, but something far worse. Btw, Obama/Democrat’s assault on the catholic church is also an assault on our constitution and therefore and assault on the country.

Yes, I really believe that. Republicans just believe in their version of big-government. Or do i need to remind you of the bipartisan support of TARP, NDAA, the Patriot Act, Ben Bernanke, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the invasion of Iraq, etc… 9 GOP Senators voted for Sotomayor, 5 for Kagan.

Yes, Lisa, they really think that both parties are the same, and that Ron Paul is somehow different. Amazing isn’t it?

War on the Catholic church?

Ishii

Good question.
I can answer that for you: vote to stop the evil of the Obama adminstration’s embracement of the secular leftist social agenda and assault on the Church - abortion on demand, gay rights, anti-right of conscience for Catholic institutions…

Pick a side.

I did. I am on God’s side. I pray for strength and mercy.
