Well nasty doesn’t surprise me after seeing in post #308 words such as silly, stupid, naive and nuts. But no I don’t believe it’s fair and God bless you for thinking you had an obligation to provide health care coverage. Peace.
Thank you and God bless you as well.

If Obama were Republican, they would be welcoming his foreign policy with open arms.
I really like Pat Buchanan’s views on Foreign Policy. I would go with Pat’s which would be similar to Ron Paul’s. Hence, I think the above is a bit of a blanket statement that does not take into account some in the GOP. I think Buchanan’s right mainly on foreign policy meaning being non-interventionist and America First.

We went to Iraq, congress voted on it. It was in the wake of the Terorist Attack of 9/11. Even back then, per Buchanan’s books, you can see he was against that military action.

Someone like me? You don’t even know me. All you know is we have different politics. But thanks for being charitable. By the way, while you were in you room without heat, I was in Viet Nam, we didn’t have heat either, and no ceiling.
Do you think you’re the only person who’s experienced a room without air controls?

While you’re busy posting on here and supporting Obama, American taxpayers who paid for the illegal democrat-induced war you participated in are now paying for your veterans benefits.

Meanwhile, the left wants to make our military useless, cut us down to size so that we can feel what’s it like and they were the ones who spit on your and your pals when they came home.

Today in some places they pretty much shred the ballots of our boys and girls abroad to help their cronies get re-elected.

Even if you were drafted, tell me:

Did you serve so that moochers and anti-American, God-hating secularists could cut this country down to size?

If serving in the war has been detrimental to you, then you need to seek medical assistance, and** I’m sure you’ll get leaps and bounds of support on here regardless of your political views,** but know this:

I am not going to sit here and let people wave his/her military service around as an excuse or a credential to screw up my country. That same standard applies even to my family and friend.

Thank you for your service.

A problem with this Ishii is your party no longer has a center. It is far right extreme. Look at Romney. He never has moved to the center for the general. Still pandering to the far right and Tea Party in fear of losing their support. This is why I’m not convinced that Romney if elected will govern from the center. He’ll be too afraid of upsetting the Tea Party and far right and will fear a primary challenge in 16 or loss of just enough of his base to cost him a 2nd term if he is even elected to a 1st.
Are you kidding? Republicans are routinely criticized for being to far the left!

First of all, I enlisted, not drafted. Second, did not voluteer for Viet Nam, no one asked, Third, thanks for your thanks for my service, don’t bother, when I got home I was greeted with signs saying sailors and dogs keep off the grass. I am truely sorry for you, you need help. In fact, just because you can write this trash, you need to thank a vet!!!
By the way, I never agreed with the war in Viet Nam, Iraq, or Afganistan. War is evil and so are your words.

I will keep the parts of Obamacare that help the Middle Class

Centrist? Being a Democrat at that time, what I saw during the PPACA bill was Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid
I’ve heard him recently say that after he spent months saying he was repealing Obamacare from day one. With Romney it all depends on the crowd he’s addressing.

You must not have seen Ben Nelson, Blanche Lincoln, Joe Lieberman, and others.

Okay, think we should keep civil here. To me the Democrats platform on abortion is unacceptable. At the same time though, I think there is a “war weariness” as well. I don’t see Romney Ryan as being hawkish. It does seem to be coming to a head, this situation with Iran. All this said that while opposed in general to military interventions, 9/11 was the doing of Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda showed up in droves in Iraq. It’s hard for me to say that war is devoid of the fight against Terrorism <---- but this last statement is just my take on it, mind you, not stating it as a fact…

I don’t know what you’re trying to say. First you say he hasn’t been moving to the center after the Primaries cause he’s pandering the TP, and now you pull the ole switcharoo and say “oh well it only depends on the crowd he’s addressing.” :ehh:

As for the last line don’t know what that has to do with Obama being wholly absent during the whole PPACA process.

Wow…you may now have the record for a stream of unsubstantiated charges…add to that, attacking a veteran.

Congratulations,

John

Oh, I don’t know about this. Luigi thanks him for his service in the last sentence.

We should not forget that the majority of veterans are for Romney if we are going to start talking about military service to the country.

I read Luigi’s point once and did again. I think it’s dramatic in parts but that is about it.

This said, it’s a long post, maybe I’m missing something but I don’t see it.

I don’t need or want his thanks, the venom in his post speaks for itself. Besides, it is WAY OFF POINT!!!

What was that about? Doesn’t sound supportive to me…more like he begrudges him any military benefits he may be receiving.

And just to clarify…Eisenhower sent the first advisers to SE Asia.

Reading through these posts it is apparent we are polarized and have nearly lost the ability to have civil discourse. We need to focus on root causes and not get hung up treating symptoms. Politics is a noble (yes it is) endeavor but it is very very difficult. It cannot accomplish what we need to accomplish. The next revolution has to be internal… spiritual. We need to convert hearts, minds and souls to Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. We get hung up on abortion and other political issues… but the answer is we need to live in a world where people don’t want abotions. (They had them before Roe v Wade didn’t they) A world where people want to be nice and good. We can still have fun. But even then, cynicism creeps in, someone will say "so and so is so nicy nice it makes me sick. Or like the famous Mae West quote, “if you don’t have anything nice to say… sit next to me…”

Education, evangelization and enlightenment are the key. Educated people (including a focus on the virtues) in general, do fewer stupid things.

The Matrix:
Faith - Hope - Love
Confidence - Motivation - Passion
Education - Evangelization - Enlightenment

We can do it. It’s not impossible.
What if the 60,000 denominations of Christians were one.
Think about it. It will happen. It is inevitable.

So the point is: politics is a noble endeavor, try your best to do the most but don’t think it can ever come close what we want and are looking for. That is not of this earth…

Agree with most of this except one point certainly, “politics is a noble endeavor!” Harumph! It can not be said at least as a blanket statement.

Abortion? That’s a present evil and I need to vote pro-life against an existing evil.

Now there are those? Non-negotiables of the Church, I think that is the word that is used.

But at the same time, I can empathize while not agreeing with those who look at their vote and may be “war weary”. But I don’t see Romney Ryan this way though the whole situation in the Middle East is obviously alarming.

Our Government gives funds to planned parenthood. Though they may try to present it in favorable ways and say we don’t pay for abortion with tax monies, Planned Parenthood is the biggest abortion provider in the country with according to one study, 83% of its clinics in minority areas.

A lot of progress has been made in the pro-life movement. I can understand if people have historic ties to one or the other party but for me, it’s necessary to do what I can to help the pro-life movement.

There is no way our government should actually be a partner in providing abortions and this is against many people’s conscience and there has been a big swing in public opinion to the pro life movement.

Ex-Bush aide Mark McKinnon (Republican thus) on what the video reveals about Romney the man – a deeply cynical man he says --, and about Romney’s campaign losing:

thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/09/19/mark-mckinnon-on-why-time-is-running-out-for-mitt-romney.html
He’s also a former Democrat who “converted” to Republican after meeting George Bush with whom he developed a personal friendship. He quit the McCain campaign because he didn’t want to criticize Obama. He describes himself as a Progressive and founded an organization called “No Labels” because he does not want to affiliate with any party.

So calling him a Republican is uh…very generous? But if it feeds into someone’s narrative about what the Republican party should be (squishy) so be it. I am sure it will receive praise and honors from the Left.

I agree. I vote pro-life always. And would vote conservative (for life issues, supreme court justices and fiscal responsibility). My point is that we (practicing Catholics) are a minority now and we can’t “make” people vote the way we want. Just because we’re right doesn’t make it right for us to force anything on anyone. I believe in freedom. People have to choose to do the right thing. That’s one difference between those who support freedom (and small government) and those that support big government (telling us what to do, forcefully). Too many people are telling other people what to do. Too many laws and rules. There’s an old saying, you can’t legislate morality. Our government wants to legislate morality down to how big a soft drink you can buy. It’s absurd. But if people are educated (confident in faith), evangelized (motivated by hope) and enlightened (inspired by love, charity and passion) they will do the right things, behave the right way, vote the right way, live the right way, seek the truth, follow Christ, carry the cross, offer it up… regardless, that’s what we must do…
