With this much interest, I don’t think she will have any problems getting vocations! I am going to print out all of these requests and give them to her when I see her! 🙂

Thank you! 😃 :tiphat: Make sure to print out post #93 where MarieVeronica made the excellent suggestion of creating a documentary for EWTN.

Well, since you are printing this, then be sure this one is included ! I am buying an Amish mini-farm tomorrow morning…tons of barns … oh, there is so much and 8 acres. Oh I did pray about it to be sure it is God’s will with the nudging of the rural nun order and unbelievable things took place that led to this purchase.

So, the rural monastery is only 30 days away from being ready to roll ! LOL

To those who think St. Louis is too far away from family to join:

Remember, you give up your old life. When in a convent, you have a new community. Now, depending on the order, you may get visits very occasionally, but this is definately not often when in the more orthodox communities/orders/whatever, in St. Louis. IN fact, the 2 major orders here you don’t see your family for 6 months at first I believe.

You give up your old life, you cannot hold on to your old life. It honestly usually doesn’t matter what area you start postulancy in, because the order can move you anywhere they want.

Also, regarding vocations in St. Louis. … I play music for the high school service camp held at the seminary. We’ve had lots of vocations come out of this as well as supported by parish based youth ministry. Our seminary is over capacity and they are expanding!

I wrote a four page letter to Rosalind the day after I saw her on The Journey Home. I hear that she is overwhelmed with women who want to join, but that she already has the original three who will begin with here. Has anyone heard this . . . or news to the contrary? The order will be called Daughters of Mary, Mother of Israel’s Hope. God bless them all!!! They will be at St. George Parish in St. Louis.

Being so close to St. Louis, and embarking on pursuing a diocesan order here (I’m in the Archdiocese of St. Louis), I am wondering if it might end up being a branch of hers. It’s possible. But, I have some things to do and get ducks in order before I present my calling to our bishop in Springfield, MO

Hi all. I just got back from Georgia, where I attended a talk by Rosalind Moss. The first session was The Passover Fulfilled, the second one was The Holy Spirit: Giver of Life and the last one was God’s Will for You: How to Know It. Of course, she was so full of enthusiasm for her new community that she spoke about it as well. The whole day was completely filled with the Holy Spirit for me - she is not only a wonderful speaker but she is absolutely full of God’s presence. I was in tears several times just because I was so happy. God is definitely working through her.

She shared some of her plans with me during a private chat and she also showed some of us a picture of the habit she is going to have made. The habit is based on St Teresa of Avila’s Carmelite one, but in a blue color instead of brown. She hopes to get some people starting work on fixing up the convent at the end of May, and has requested that the Archbishop do the consecration in September on the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (God willing).

The charism will be based on her patron saint, St Francis de Sales and she said that she will accept women from 18 to 118. The work will be preaching and teaching the gospel using all forms of media - and she described the community as contemplative-active.

Her name in religion will be Mother Miriam of the Lamb of God and that’s how I think of her even now. She told me that she wants to start with no more than 12 sisters and then not to accept any vocations after that for the first year (during formation). She has about five sisters already, wiht many more applications in hand, and I have also asked to join her. She said she would send me a copy of the Rule and an application form as soon as she got back to California. I am hoping to be able to see her again, since I live only about an hour from her. She is very busy right now of course.

She said that the best email address for her is rosalindmoss@gmail.com. If you do write to her, I wouldn’t expect an answer right away though because of how busy she is.

I didn’t get time to print out all of these posts but did tell her about them and even mentioned that some of you wanted her to come set up a community in your areas (such as Kathie’s rural one etc) and she said that might be possible in the future, but that it would be a while before she was ready to move to other areas. Some people at the program even hoped that she might set up a Third Order for those who are married or have other responsibilities that prevent them from joining her. I have no doubt that her community is going to flourish wonderfully. She said that there would be a web site set up as soon as possible.

Believe me, this woman is incredible and anyone who joins her is going to be blessed just to know her. Her zeal and passion for Our Lord could set anyone on fire!

Oh, how wonderful a day you had ! When you receive the Rule, do you think she will approve it being given to us to read? Maybe ? Thanks for mentioning my rural calling ! Indeed, it wouldn’t surprise me that even though I start before she is ready to set up camp, that she might accept it as a branch since my bishop is certainly connected tightly to Archbishop Burke.

Did you see the CNA report that St. Joseph’s Seminary is having a tsunami of interest ever since the Holy Father spoke to the 25,000 youth there? So many inquiries, the vocation director can’t keep up !

As I understand it, she has all the necessary Church permissions taken care. In fact, it was your Bishop who invited here to start her order in St. Louis and gave her order the use of the convent at St. George Parish. By the way, her name in religion will be Mother Miriam of the Lamb of God. How lovely! I understand also that she is going through some legal difficulties–not with Canon Law–but with the work necessary to leave lay life and proceed freely to a life as a religious.

May God bless her and those chosen ladies who will begin the order with her. What joy!!! I will pray for the order you are starting, too. I’m placing your new order under the protection of Pope John Paul the Great. He will pray for your success! God Bless! 😉

Wonderful news indeed:thumbsup: and thank you all for sharing it!

Blessings…Barb:)

Nunsense,

You have given us a goldmine of information. Thank you! If you go back to post number 6, I mentioned that Roz took a vote at our breakfast meeting to see what color habit we would like and “blue” was our choice because it symbolizes “Mary”. She had not made up her mind at the time so I am delighted to hear it will be blue.

I will be praying for your acceptance now that you have asked to join her community. How exciting!

I agree that Roz is incredible. I also predict she will some day be a “saint” along with Mother Teresa and Mother Angelica.

It wasn’t my bishop who is over the Springfield/Cape Girardeau diocese. Archbishop Burke in St. Louis has taken her under his wing. But, my diocese is under this Archdiocese.

This is great news, I am so thrilled to hear about this new order!
I pray that it will become a huge success, God bless all of
you who are intrested, we certainly need you!

Rosalind was on Catholic Answers today. She announced that she will continue to be on the radio show twice a month via telephone but will no longer be part of the Catholic Answers staff as of tomorrow.
She will welcome anyone who is in St Louis this summer after June 15th to help with the fixing up of the convent.
She and her sisters will don their habits and get to work this September.
I was pleased to hear two women call the show inquiring about joining.

Here is an extract from Ros’ letter to potential candidates…

*Those who wish to pursue the possibility of a future with the new community, but, for any reason, are not in a position to enter at present – as well as those who may not be able to pursue entrance to the community even in the future – may wish to consider one of four options, each of which is in the process of being formulated:

(1) A one-year program of spiritual formation (in individual or group format)
The program will consist of a study of the life of our Lord, using the new series, Reasons
for Our Hope – A Bible Study on the Gospel of Luke (9 months), guided reading through St. Francis de Sales’ Introduction to the Devout Life (3 months), a program of daily prayer, help toward spiritual growth and direction, and the encouragement of like-minded souls!

(2) Membership in the Third Order of the Daughters of Mary, Mother of Israel’s Hope
A program of prayer and spiritual growth to enable both individuals and families to grow in grace, in the love of God and neighbor, and to know and live God’s will for our lives.

(3) Membership as a Lay Associate of the Daughters of Mary, Mother of Israel’s Hope
An opportunity for those who wish to be part of our support troops through prayer and through the myriad of talents and gifts which our Lord has showered upon His children.

(4) Receipt of our brand new newsletter – yet in the making!
For those who wish simply to keep in touch and to watch our Lord at work in the
building of His new community of Sisters as they walk through the world, in full habit, as “messengers of hope to those who are longing for a sign of God’s mercy.”

If you would like to be included in one or more of the options listed above – or in a way I’ve not yet thought of! – please let me know. We will contact you just as soon as these auxiliary programs are in place.

One note here, to respond to a good number of you who have asked about a fully contemplative branch of the community. While we would love to have such a branch starting out, I have recognized two factors: first, that, of necessity, we must narrow our beginning to the heart of our charism, which is to “flood” the streets with holy habits as signs to God, reaching out to every soul who longs for Him. Second, I am confident that, since we are taking in women of all ages (who, upon entrance, can keep the pace of “walking the streets” twice daily for 1-½ hours at each “outing”), it will not be more than a few years before some of our Sisters will need to spend more time “off their feet!” and in prayer. At that time, a contemplative branch will form somewhat happily and naturally for our Lord’s aging street walkers!

Regarding a time table for the establishment of the community, we are beginning work on the convent in Saint Louis at the end of this month, will move into our new facility at the beginning of July, spend the remainder of the summer getting it into shape, and look to the formal inauguration of the community in September!

Our new website is being put together and should be up and running before too long. The address will be: www.MotherOfIsraelsHope.org. (If you click on that address now, you’ll get a blank page!) If you wish, in the interim, to take a look at the parish of Saint George at which our convent is located, you can see it at: romeofthewest.com/2006/02/photos-of-saint-georges-church-affton.html.

P.S. Several of you have mentioned your desire to help with the work of getting the convent into shape over the summer (painting, cleaning, decorating, etc.)! A dear angel, by the name of Judy Capistrant, in the St. Louis area, has volunteered to coordinate our team of volunteers. It would help me greatly if those who wish to help would contact Judy directly via her email or by phone

For this contact info, email Annie at anniemac@calequus.com

Feel free to let Judy know the area(s) in which you or your group may wish to help. Judy will coordinate all and will let you know the dates and times we’ll be meeting at the convent. See you there; God bless you!*

I am so pleased and excited for all of you. I would just love to see nuns back in habits flooding the streets

I can’t think of anything nicer…I hope it is a huge success…:clapping:

I agree, we certainly don’t have many nuns in habits here in Pittsburgh. The ones that are, are mostly cloistered. That’s one of the reasons I admire the Little Sisters of the Poor. But I do wish that Ros’s sisters would find a home here too. I think I’d join in a heartbeat if they were.

Kathy

IrishKathy - Ros told me that as her community grows, she hopes to send 4 sisters at a time out to start new communities - so perhaps Pittsburgh will happen someday! 🙂

We have a growing order of Dominicans in Ann Arbor and they are all in habits, traditional ones…I feel so proud of them when I see them out in public
