I answered my own question. Sounds like a wonderful community. Excellant web-site<www.daughtersofstjoseph.com>.

Rosalind may be undergoing purification and persecution-surely satan does not want her community to be a success. We can only pray for God’s will for her and the community.
 
If anyone is seriously discerning with the Daughters of St. Joseph, please pm me. There is some information that would be important for you to know.
 
I don’t know anything personal of course, but as an observer, far away, I thought things moved “initally” very quickly. It seemed one minute she was on EWTN doing her show and then I’m reading she’s wearing a preliminary habit. I got caught up in the excitement, etc. too, but when things died down, I’m sure everyone looked around and said, “What are we doing, where are we going?” I don’t think it was that the archbishop couldn’t come, because they could still have a daily life and talk to people, but the disorganization and maybe they weren’t getting funds to keep going yet. Also running an order takes a LOT of work. Ask nuns like the desertnuns that started an order from EWTN in AZ or the Texas nuns, also from that group…they are “seasoned” and have a lot of trials. She really had no experience at all, not just with being a nun but shepherding other women. I hope the statement about “no prayer life” was a lie or large exageration, because without that, nothing will grow.
Someone posted earlier, when they began, things were a bit scattered, but I believe if it is meant to be, it will be and this will be a chapter in her own book one day. I look forward to that because I know Rosalind isn’t going away.🙂
 
My sister told me of Rosalind Moss starting this new order, does anyone have any information? I have had a calling on my life for many years, unfortuately I am 48 years old and many orders tell me I am too old.

Sr. Rosalind IS the Charism.

She is still there, and we have advised her to use this “eremitical” time to get everything organized.

I, too, was bothered by the “hype” the charism received at first.

Don’t begrudge the lack of a bishop. My SD said the Rule of St. Benedict says to “stay away from bishops.” The Charism has to have a chance to grow on its own. Then, when they have everything lined up, and the bishop can see everything as it works at a glance, she has a greater chance of approval.

I too, was going to enter a community in Dallas, TX. This was three yrs. ago. We had 6 sisters. Mother Superior, three novice’s. and two postulant’s. But the Bishop, closed it! She was getting alot of inquiries. Now, she was sent to another community,but where?
This is my view. I am seriously discerning.

I think the community you mentioned in Dallas was the Institute of Divine Mercy. The community was disbanded . Where the other sisters went I don’t know, but the founder, the Mother Superior went to a convent in Ohio I believe.
Gemma also known as Cloisters who post here at times, has a founders forum on Yahoo Groups and also The Religious Habit forum also at Yahoo groups.You can ask her here or join our group and ask her.It’s a shame the bishop closed the community.I wonder why he did that.
Do you know why the community was at a standstill?
Did they attend mass and say the rosary at least?
I haven’t read through all these pages.Did they engage in any apostolate, active work etc.
Me,I’m 53 , working two jobs to get rid of debts. At my age few communities would take me. When I get out of debt, and can maybe retire, I can try to become a child advocate or something.
Too bad they don’t have any Beguines here in the United States like in Belgium and Holland. That maybe the life I would be suited for now.Sorry to hear the community failed. It might even be revived by Rosalind.Maybe now, in God’s looking at things, this is not the time for the community, but in the future.

The Institute of Divine Mercy, had it not been suppressed, would have brought in many vocations. Our website has been published for 7 years now, and I can’t count how many found it by searching for the IDM.

Sr. Maria Goretti, who had started the IDM, is now a cloistered nun in Ohio, but I’m not at liberty to reveal where.

Beguines–there is a group of American Beguines in San Francisco, CA. They don’t wear a habit–at least not to my knowledge.

Calling Sr. Rosalind a ‘dreamer’ is a tad uncharitable. Anybody who gets anywhere in life has to have a dream. She just needs a little more guidance as to how to make that dream come to pass, and that’s one of Cloister Outreach’s jobs. Everyone give her some space, and the charity of your prayers for her to be guided, and hopefully things will come together.

I’m deliberately taking the formation process for our Cloisterite Hermits very, very slowly because I don’t want to get in the Holy Ghost’s way. The Angelic Rule of St. Pachomius said not to overdo in religious observances for the sake of the timorous, and that’s another maxim I follow. With the exception of one, all of our hermits hold full-time jobs. We will eventually have the rule online, but we’re still working things out.

I think that there are quite a few communities that would consider you, despite your age. If you are serious , I would start discerning seriously now, while you work through your debts.
 
:o I agree. There are communities out there that are open to those in their 50’s. Although some communities have recently set stricter age limits, there are others that are open to more mature woman,even in middle to late 50’s. You might have to do a lot of searching,but they are out there.

Never even heard about any American Beguines till you mentioned it. Thought I’d mention your yahoo groups to one of the posters.Sorry so far things haven’t worked out for Ms.Moss, but she should hang in there. I think someone else, not me Hollydolly called her a dreamer. I know that even saints who have founded communities have had problems ,but through God’s providence things have worked out. This may just be a false start.If this is the will of God, I’m sure the Holy Spirit will show her the way and she will start attracting members again.In the mean while, maybe should contact some communities who are engaged already in the same time of apostolate she had in mind for the community.
It certainly wouldn’t hurt, and they might have some good advice.
I am praying for her that things start to work out and that the Holy Spirit will bless her with other women who have the same thing and mind, and that she will have a good spiritual director to guide her.

You would think if they were atrracting women, and already were getting novices and postulants, surely you would think he would see the hand of Our Lord,Jesus in this matter??!!!

It’s not like they were an older order that was losing members.The franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Divine Child of Williamsville,NY amalgamated to the Sisters of St.Francis of Buffalo, and the Vicentian Sisters of Charity of Bedford,Ohio did the same, only they joined to the Sisters of Charity of Cincinatti,Ohio.
Really a shame as the IDM seemed to be blessed by the Holy Spirit.What year were they founded?

He said it was lack of vocations, but he may have had something against their being a TLM community. That is only speculation, though.

We got online in 2001, I think, and their website was taken down around the same time.

Cloister Outreach was offering the Hidden Disciples of Divine Mercy, but as usual, got beat into the ground over it. If anyone has any interest in such, they should read through St. Faustina’s diary. Everything would have been taken from there, and would have been EFLR.

I keep telling shrinking orders that if they go TLM (EFLR today), they will have to build on. Nobody wants to believe me, though.

I don’t recall seeing the Hidden Disciples of the Divine Mercy on your website, but maybe I missed it.
Sorry the idea gotten beaten down.

I think if a lot of communties went back and examined their histories, and went back to the original reason and ideas,etc. of their founders, this too might fuel vocations as well as TLM.
Many communities have gone so far in left field, that their founders would not even recognize the community they started.

😉 Hello. I think I found out where Sr. Maria Goretti, went to. I am discerning with the Visitation Nuns in Toledo, OH. They sent me vocation material, and inside the brochure, was 3 photos. Guess who they were of??? The nun who was Mother Superior of the IDM!!! I kept thinking to myself, I know this sister, but where? And then I remembered. She is a nun/sister, with the Visitation nuns, in Toledo. I do not know her name, but I can email Mother M. Bernard and ask her. Small world, isn’t it?👍
As far as age, no one is late about having a vocation in life. I am 47, but look, and feel younger. I have always felt called to the contemplative life. I have a very, mild case of epilepsy, and all the communities I have emailed, have told me, if the medication controls your seizures, and you feel you can handle the life, then you are more then welcome to discern with them.
I am discerning with the: 1) Dominican Nuns in Ortonville, MI. They DO take older vocations, and they wear a modified habit. 2) Visitation Nuns in Toledo, OH. They to take older vocations, women who have physical limitations, and they wear the habit their co-foundress, St. Jane de Chantel.3) Capuchin Poor Clares in Amarillo, TX. They wear a full habit, accept older vocations, and are a spanish/english, community. I am goin to do a live in sometime this year with them.
Their is a new community in Des Moines,IO. Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. They wear the full, Franciscan habit, that looks identical, to the of the PCPA nuns. I think they are, contemplatives, with an active ministry? thrown in? I have to write back, or call.
Well, I must go for now. We are all discerning His Will for us. We do not chose where to go. He guides us. And it burns in our Hearts. Trust in Him.:amen: :bluelite:

🍿 Sister Rosalind is on the air right now. She is very optimistic about her community. On February 2 she was inspired by the feast day of the Presentation. First of all the Pope had declared February 2 as the Day of Consecrated Life. Secondly, Sister felt a calling to dedicate her new community to the Presentation of our Lord when she realized that was the day Jesus was recognized by the prophet Simeon. She would like her order to bring Jesus to the world just as Mary had brought Jesus to the temple that day. She plans to use the Presentation as the image for her website and stationery. Her website should be up fairly soon.
Sister admitted that she did not have a discernment program but plans to develop one before she invites any more visitors to discern. There are 300 inquiring so she is not lacking interested women. According to Sister Rosalind, “Everything is right on target…God’s target”.😉

As soon as 1. the weather cooperates; 2. everyone gets well; and 3. I’m alone in the house again, I’ll be able to complete the Lay Cloisterite site, and the idea for the Hidden Disciples will on that site, as an outgrowth of a reparation society. The Lay Cloisterites will be mostly for those discerning the religious life. Third Orders make promises from which one must be released, that’s not a feasible route, but the discerners need something.

Sorry to hijack the thread. Long live Sr. Rosalind’s charism!

I just want to say you go!! I think that is just marvouls. I am happily married for 28 and a half years so I hope I have a few more to go with my spouse. But, when that happens I’m signing up.

**😉 **Hello to everyone. I am very happy for Sr. Rosalind. I have nothing against her, at all. I do not know her, except for what I have heard, from my friends. They wanted me to write to her, because of the age requirements,and that the fact she would accept anyone.
I believe if she feels that the Day of the Presentation Of Jesus in the Temple, should be the Feast day(beginning), of her new community, then, the Habit should stay Blue, in Honour of Our Lady. Their is a new Franciscan community, that wears a Blue Scapular, with their Habit. Franciscan Daughters of Mary. Very beautiful habit/veil. They have a website. (www.FranciscanDaughtersofMary.com)). Or if you have the Visions magazine, it’s in the back, with their email address.
As far as Institute of The Divine Mercy(IDM)), this goes out to "CLOISTERS’’…just out of curiosity, were you an applicant with the community, of did you enter it as an Aspirant. Because, I knew someone who did, and the following year, the community closed.
The Superior, Mother Maria Goretti of Jesus Crucified, is still a cloistered nun, and a beautiful one. However, her name is different, and with a community I will visit hopefully, in the spring.
She made her Solemn Profession of Vows, on September 6, 2008. A beautiful crown of thorns was placed on her head, after receiving the black veil, and a ring symbolizing, she is a Bride of Christ 4-ever!!👍 Her name was changed to: Sr. Noel Faustine of Jesus,VHM.
And yes, she had to start over as a postulant, but I don’t think for long. I can not give out the website, nor give permission for others to email her, or write to her. I was happy Mother Mary Bernard, let her write to me. I feel very drawn to this community, and pray that this is where God indeed is sending me to this Beautiful community, of 18 sisters. Even a new Postulant is there now.
They have two women in their 70’s, two other women in their 50’s, and one woman, who is 42, that are in the Novitiate now. And the postulant is 32. And then their is me, age 47. I am sure their are others.

So,if you have a vocation, and feel called to the Visitation Order, their are the active and contemplative orders. And they all have no age limits for women. The active order, has prayer interwoven, with the apostolate of education. And they do wear the habit, as far as the one’s in Washington, DC do.🙂
