Savannah Guthrie calls out Trump: "You're the president — you're not like someone's crazy uncle"

Questioning President Trump about his recent and current health and discussion about masks was a HUGE waste of time.
I think it was a bad business decision to give any free airtime to Trump. And who’s he to complain as NBC set up a plant behind Trump nodding at everything Trump said?

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion.

There is a rule - accepted by the both campaigns and the debaters that both participants were required to have a virus test made on the day of the debate. Trump showed up without any evidence that he had one. It was an “honor” system, if that word still has any meaning among politicians - of ANY color or hue.

Trump tried to wiggle out by saying that he did not remember, which is ridiculous. When you are threatened with a deadly virus, you make sure that your get tested every time you can, and you remember when was the last time you tested negative.

So Guthrie was right to insist on to get an answer, and Trump reluctance was an answer by itself. I asked @Ridgerunner if he believed that Trump was truthful in his answer. I never received a reply. So I am going to ask you, too. Do you believe that Trump was truthful when he said that he does not remember when when he was tested? And does not remember, when he had his last negative test (before the debate with Biden)? Do you believe Trump in this case?

I finally watched the video. I agree he condemned, very specifically, white supremists, the KKK and Donald Duke. Thanks for posting that. I retract my comments saying he hasn’t condemned specific groups, including the KKK.

Has he rebuked the Proud Boys yet? If so, I haven’t heard that one. I certainly don’t believe he doesn’t know who they are. That bothered me!

Guthrie was wrong for insisting on getting an answer. The fact that President Trump was ‘clear’ at the time of the Town Hall was widely known days ago. President Trump was living in the present moment and did not feel it necessary to grace Guthrie with jogging his memory even one little bit. Her persistence and insistence for an answer was a waste of time then and remains a waste of time now.
The whole part about President Trump’s health/questions was blather.

That red masked woman was great and it turns out she is a great Trump supporter. It was worth tuning in to watch her cheer and see Guthrie hit a brick wall. President Trump definitely won that round.

Why do you feel it is “wrong?”
In the end, Guthrie revealed her weakness as moderator/questioner given the limited time available to her to all those present on the floor and all those distant viewers. HER CHOICE to focus sooo much time on President Trump’s health tripped her up. Oh well

It wasn’t those heavy multi inch stacked heels on her shoes that she kept clipped on the bar stool rung that tripped her up…just her tongue and choice of words.

I tried to quote some if your President Trump lies, and provide my opinion, but could not. But here is what I see…

Trump says “Joe Biden is a Socialist” False.
Biden says “President Trump is racist” False.

Trump attacks Biden Tax plan
Biden attacks Trump Tax plan

“Trump says Portland in a blaze”
This one I find so tremendously bias, that if funny. A whole country is at war, when the war is only at the border. You can literally be having a nice dinner, or go to the stores, even have a nice family outing close to the actual war area. But we say the whole country is at war. The case with Portland and other cities as well. So yes Portland is on Fire.

Biden says “Trump can not condemn White supremacy”
Trump said “Biden can not condemn Antifa”

Much of that stuff that is labeled False, it pandering and political talk, Something all politicians do. But because it is Trump, they decided to start counting. That in it self shows the hatred biases that clouds people minds.

Trump is bombastic and a character, he broke trough the mold of politics. Good or bad, he did that. You can not say that it is Bad because you do not like him and so does other people, because with that same argument people like him and support him.

The divisions come from The NEWS, they divide us with their Bias. A MSNBC bubble can not talk to a Fox News Bubble, and a CNN Bubble, is a conspiracy theorist. This are my opinions, but this is what I see. They do from time to time present the news, but that is rare.

I believe Trump is dirty. But I see all the politicians are dirty, Not in the sense that all are equally dirty. In the sense that many of them Lie to us the people. All of them. Some do it with eloquent words like Obama and some are bombastic like Trump. But all are liars to quite an extent, they twist the truth and facts to make their case. Biden does this very well, after all 47 years as a politician, you know the game very well. Biden is the establishment. Trump is the outsider.

This was supposed to be a “Town Hall” event. Guthrie asked four times the number of questions she allow the audience to ask. It was just a “Guthrie vs. Biden” debate.

“Here we go again.” Guthrie noted that Trump has sometimes sounded “hesitant” about condemning White supremacists.
That sounds like insincerity on Guthrie’s part.
He could have condemned the Proud Boys
Their leader is not even a white person and he did condemn them.
Proud Boys or any other known supremest organizations.
They are not white supremacists also he did condemn them.

However you can say it is bad if it is bad, if it violates the constitution or is bad for the country. His dislikeable characteristics should not make up for him ignoring the way our government has been set up by Congress. The Jacksonian spoils system was deliberately replaced by a merit based civil service; Trump’s talk of the “deep state” and preference for “acting” heads instead appointed are an improper and damaging use of his supposed expertise at business management to subvert law and order. This violates his pledge to uphold the Constitution and an ordinary respect for law.

If he had actually broken the mold of politics it might be more acceptable, but he has continued the worst of politics. Every problem he has is blamed on Democrats, when it is sometimes Republicans in the Senate who are the cause of his difficulties. This is among the most corrupt governments we have ever had, skimming money for his own personal gain, manipulating hings for his own advantage . We will not know the extent of this until after he leaves office, if then.

Not all of his lies have been like those of other people, and certainly not all have been innocuous. Downplaying the pandemic has been dangerous to the country, and then denying he ever downplayed it has just been part of the smokescreen he blows around us.

I wouldn’t be nitpicking for minor flaws when there is a little good news.

That interpretation isn’t supported by the circumstances in this situation.

Doesn’t savanah make her living off repeating what her crazy uncle says?

So a liberal media Democrat was hostile and insulting toward Trump. Why is that news?
I take it you then fully support / endorse the President’s more outlandish conspiracy theories? That’s the topic at hand here… calling out something this outlandish is not an insult…its a service to society as a whole. Again, as I’ve said again and again, I get why people support Trump as a president in terms of certain policies, especially the abortion issue, but the need to defend some of these truly unhinged conspiracy theories, outlandish comments, etc. is just baffling to me. There is not a single politician on this planet who I would not criticize. When a politician I support tweets things that are, like this, just simply nuts, I don’t do mental gymnastics to defend him/her…

Except last election trump made promises and kept the majority of them… he was hindered by the resistance but he still got many things done!

Seems more to me that the topic here, as in the Town Hall itself, is Savannah Guthrie challenging Trump and calling him a liar on national television. Quite possibly some of the voters at the town hall, or watching at home, might have wanted to hear Trump discuss national policy or international relations; things that matter. But Guthrie had her own agenda and made it the “Savannah Guthrie Show” showing off to her liberal friends how nasty she would be to Trump, all without letting the audience ask more than about 1/5 of the questions.

That’s odd, I don’t see references to the clothing of male debate moderators.
