I wonder if this is true. I know A LOT of Catholics who vote for Democrats because they can’t stand Republicans, it’s not that they have any love for Democrats.
They hate republicans because they have been raised to hate republicans–it is completely irrational and mindless hate.

I cannot tell you how many people I have met that hold irrational hatred for the republicans and yet they don’t have a clue about what the republicans have even done…un-informed and irrational. Couple that with the hundreds of articles that come from the left that reflect they also have no balance in their approach or even in their knowledge, and yet most of the hate comes from them.

The majority of Catholics are cultural-Catholics and vote for the dems simply because they are the dems. They never bother to think about their faith.

I am catholic and often vote Republican; I would like to see what they done well lately. Did you know the government has been growing at twice the rate of inflation under Republicans? and NO it is not related to the war. Did you know the government is invading the privacy of citizens under Republicans? A fete many claim proves the current people in Washington are not really Republicans at all. Did you know the government is fighting legal battles to allow torture under Republicans? Not a very Republican issue either.

What have tghe republicans done?
  • The United States has not been attacked in over 5 1/2 years, and the terrorists have tried many times…hundreds of times actually. That alone is enough.
  • The book on Iraq is not yet written, yet even so Saddam has been removed and if you know anything of what that evil man did, that is a very good thing.
  • The jobless rate is at an incredibly low level, and it is utter nonsense when people try to claim the jobs are not of high quality. The standard of living has done nothing but rise for the last 15-20 years.
  • The economy, along with the stock market, are at historically healthy levels, and that is happening despite 911, the collapse of the airline industry, the Clinton recession, and two battle fronts on the war on terror…that is simply an amazing fact that is often lost due to liberal irrational hatred of Bush and republicans in general.
  • The deficit, while still high, is dropping sharply, and this is happening despite all of the enormous drains on our economy, another amazing fact that liberals hate holders refuse to report.
  • Bush’s judicial apointments have been outstanding and we are very well positioned for future SC justice appointments. The area of life is one area that Bush may gone down in history as being compared to Lincoln if all goes well.
  • Americans are more healthy, more prosperous, more employed and have more opportunites then at nearly any other time in history, and that was all done by Bush and the republican congress. Simply amazing!
As doe your torture statements, you would need to be more specific for me to respond.

As for your comment about invading privacy, please tell me exactly how people are having their privacy invaded and please tell what specific freedoms you have lost.

The left controls at least 70% of all media sources, and their lies are nearly impossible to dispel.

the United States has rarely been attacked in it history which was not a Republican party history. The September attacks were from a group not a country.
  • The book on Iraq is not yet written, yet even so Saddam has been removed and if you know anything of what that evil man did, that is a very good thing. .
It is not a US thing
  • The jobless rate is at an incredibly low level, and it is utter nonsense when people try to claim the jobs are not of high quality. The standard of living has done nothing but rise for the last 15-20 years. .
the unemployment rate is normal not particularly low or high at this time
  • The economy, along with the stock market, are at historically healthy levels, and that is happening despite 911, the collapse of the airline industry, the Clinton recession, and two battle fronts on the war on terror…that is simply an amazing fact that is often lost due to liberal irrational hatred of Bush and republicans in general. .
That is simply false statements. Sept 11 on it own would have depressed the market for a while but not 5 years. The airline industry problem were created in Washington DC by people who call themselves Republicans. The 2 battle fronts are where we chose to fight. Iraq was not associated with 9/11 nor had weapons of mass destruction. Remember I voted Republican
  • The deficit, while still high, is dropping sharply, and this is happening despite all of the enormous drains on our economy, another amazing fact that liberals hate holders refuse to report. .
Actually the deficit is ridiculous given the situation the Republican inherited. A small deficit to put troops in the field, absolutely. Some domestic spending to infuse cash in to the economy, fine. We now have the biggest deficits ever with ever form of social spending known to man included so what is Republican about that?
  • Bush’s judicial apointments have been outstanding and we are very well positioned for future SC justice appointments. The area of life is one area that Bush may gone down in history as being compared to Lincoln if all goes well. .
Bush has been fighting with the judicial branch for 5 yrs now.
  • Americans are more healthy, more prosperous, more employed and have more opportunites then at nearly any other time in history, and that was all done by Bush and the republican congress. Simply amazing! .
Bush’s action of enlarging the government, expanding the debt, and invading privacy reduce future economic growth. What is republican about that

So are you saying to ignore the executive branch when they speak on these subjects?

A lie is a lie no matter who tells it

The point is terrorists attacked us on 911 and have not been able to for the last 5 1/2 years under republican leadership.

Wrong! 96.3 employment rates are historically sound.
Sept 11 on it own would have depressed the market for a while but not 5 years. The airline industry problem were created in Washington DC by people who call themselves Republicans.
Correct about the depressed market, yet that is NOT what we have seen. Our nation is propering despite the challenges of 911 and the airline industry collapse that resulted because of those attacks. Republicans lead the nation through one of its worst times in a way that is simply amazing with prospesity for nearly all who want it.
The 2 battle fronts are where we chose to fight. Iraq was not associated with 9/11 nor had weapons of mass destruction.
Yes, but at the time nearly everyone involved, including the left, the U.N. and many other friendly nations agreed that the WMD were there. It is easy to be ar chair QB after the fact, but even the vast majority of the left agreed Saddam had WMD…and btw, the story has not yet been written on the Iraq war or WMD.
Actually the deficit is ridiculous given the situation the Republican inherited.
Wrong again. The deficit is historically low compared to previous deficits in terms of percentage of GDP. And, that deficit is dropping quickly despite the drain on our budget. Why? Because republicans were smart enough to cut taxes and to rev-up the economy. Thanks to that, state coffers are brimming with money and so are th feds.
A lie is a lie no matter who tells it
I agree and the left spews nothing but lies because they hate Bush and republicans in general. They do not want the truth to be told, because if Americans knew the truth, the majority of them would vote GOP.

I missed Fr. E. on “Open Line” with Barbara. 😦 Has anyone here heard that show with Fr. E. as a guest?

Yep! 👍

He mentioned that he has since sent a letter to Sean Hannity offering a private meeting to discuss the issue more in depth than just sound bites. He truly has a pastoral heart for the conversion of the wrongheaded, misdirected and ignorant. The only category of folks that he dismissed were the “wacked out liberals”. He was unflinching in his action of publicly challenging the public dissent of Sean Hannity. Fr. Euteneuer is truly a great role model for laity and religious alike.

Thank you, you have proved my point. The difference in the unemployment rate has been messured in 10ths of a percent in nearly all of the years you posted from 97-now. Now, take a look back at the unemployment rates to 1920 and you will be shocked to see how many years the rate was higher then it is now, and that is being in the midst of some the most harsh challenges this nation has ever faced.

Thanks for the help. 🙂

The White House is projecting that its new budget will eliminate the deficit by 2012 assuming Mr. Bush’s tax cuts are extended after 2010. We don’t put much stock in future budget forecasts because they depend on so many variables. But even CBO predicts the deficit should remain near or below 1% of GDP for the rest of the Bush Presidency. That’s well below the 40-year average of 2.4% of GDP.

What type of man and Catholic does this say Sean Hannity is? What does this incident does this tell us about the state of Western Civilization? What does it tell us about Fox News?

It tells us there has been a rock bottom moral decline in the United States during the last century.

This Hannity idiot pulled every rhetorical device conceivable during the segment, the oldest being the ad hominium attack. That is, instead of discussing the issue at hand, (i.e., Hannity’s public support of artificial contraception), Hannity used the occasion to personally attack the priest personally (i.e. ad hominium, to attack the man, your debate opponent), and not deal with the real issue of his public support for artifical contraception.

This deflects your debate opponent from discussing the actual topic for the debate, and is a good way to deflect criticism from yourself, so that when time runs out, you escape discussing the real issue (unless your opponent ignores the ad hominum, which is the wisest course of action:) ). Using this rhetorical ad hominum device is what is called a Red Herring (from a fox hunting term), because it throws your opponent off the track from discussing the real issue at hand.

Fox News is not socially conservative. It has more in common, in my opinion, with the Libertarian party and the Ann Ryand pop philosophy movement than with social conservatism. I watched Cavullo or Cavallo & company on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade in 2006, and this young man Cavullo (whatever, sorry) used the term “anti-abortion” instead of Pro-life during the news discussion segment.

My local Fox News station in Detroit, MI has an avowedly and open Homosexual news anchorman who regularly attends and reports on Gay events a few times each year. This station also shows old episodes of MASH during the day on the weekend and late night weekdays. Mash was an entertaining show. I mean I thought Radar, Hawkeye, and Klinger were all funny. But it did promote disrespect for the military and its hierarchy, and, in a real slick way, depicted and promoted casual sex both for the culture and as being something that TV Situation Comedies should depict in their plots. I called my local Fox station to yank the show and the anchorman and complained but nothing happened.

Fox is a global worldwide business with channels is most European countries. In Australia, it owns a pay per view movie channel called Foxtel. It of course features an adult movie channel which Foxtel owns about 1/3 share of stock in. I think they’re more interested in making a buck then seeing a revival of a socially conservative American culture, or in any other country.

What type of man would treat a Catholic priest like that on his TV show? In my opinion, certainly not someone who belongs on a national TV “conservative” news channel. In my opinion, certainly not a Catholic man who respects the priesthood and who priests represent on earth, i.e., Christ. In my opinion, it is a man who enjoys bullying people around, cares only about himself and his own self-centeredness; In my opinion, more like some barbarian from the land of Conan. You can watch him on Fox News, every night.

Actually the original quote was “-* The jobless rate is at an incredibly low level*” The chart shows the current jobless rate has not reached the level the current Republicans inherited. Please do not be confused it was I who said this is a normal level.

Second the deficit chart shows massive negative entries from 2002 to present. If you look at the 2000-2001 levels subtract the war cost and allow for a cyclical drop in the economy the theoretical chart is much better than the real chart. The real chart is loaded with pork. Remember they raised the budget 50%. Republicans used to claim they would not have pork and increasing budgets. btw the government does not have to have a deficit at all and did not have such for many years.
