What type of man and Catholic does this say Sean Hannity is? What does this incident does this tell us about the state of Western Civilization? What does it tell us about Fox News?
It tells us there has been a rock bottom moral decline in the United States during the last century.
This Hannity idiot pulled every rhetorical device conceivable during the segment, the oldest being the ad hominium attack. That is, instead of discussing the issue at hand, (i.e., Hannity’s public support of artificial contraception), Hannity used the occasion to personally attack the priest personally (i.e. ad hominium, to attack the man, your debate opponent), and not deal with the real issue of his public support for artifical contraception.
This deflects your debate opponent from discussing the actual topic for the debate, and is a good way to deflect criticism from yourself, so that when time runs out, you escape discussing the real issue (unless your opponent ignores the ad hominum, which is the wisest course of action

). Using this rhetorical ad hominum device is what is called a Red Herring (from a fox hunting term), because it throws your opponent off the track from discussing the real issue at hand.
Fox News is not socially conservative. It has more in common, in my opinion, with the Libertarian party and the Ann Ryand pop philosophy movement than with social conservatism. I watched Cavullo or Cavallo & company on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade in 2006, and this young man Cavullo (whatever, sorry) used the term “anti-abortion” instead of Pro-life during the news discussion segment.
My local Fox News station in Detroit, MI has an avowedly and open Homosexual news anchorman who regularly attends and reports on Gay events a few times each year. This station also shows old episodes of MASH during the day on the weekend and late night weekdays. Mash was an entertaining show. I mean I thought Radar, Hawkeye, and Klinger were all funny. But it did promote disrespect for the military and its hierarchy, and, in a real slick way, depicted and promoted casual sex both for the culture and as being something that TV Situation Comedies should depict in their plots. I called my local Fox station to yank the show and the anchorman and complained but nothing happened.
Fox is a global worldwide business with channels is most European countries. In Australia, it owns a pay per view movie channel called Foxtel. It of course features an adult movie channel which Foxtel owns about 1/3 share of stock in. I think they’re more interested in making a buck then seeing a revival of a socially conservative American culture, or in any other country.
What type of man would treat a Catholic priest like that on his TV show? In my opinion, certainly not someone who belongs on a national TV “conservative” news channel. In my opinion, certainly not a Catholic man who respects the priesthood and who priests represent on earth, i.e., Christ. In my opinion, it is a man who enjoys bullying people around, cares only about himself and his own self-centeredness; In my opinion, more like some barbarian from the land of Conan. You can watch him on Fox News, every night.
