Can’t have it both ways.
Now this is where i might appear to have it both ways, where I am between Arminianism and Calvinism.

I have posted this often:

A saint gets up to the pearly gates and entrance sign reads something like " Ye have chosen well". He goes thru the gate and the back of the sign reads: " Ye have been chosen since before the foundations of the earth were laid".

That is kind of like having it both ways, taking the best of both said viewpoints. I have been very transparent and upfront about it.

At least one of those isms is out of the question in regards to the consistent hermeneutic of the Church.

So the proposition was that the Scriptures are a product of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church claims it is the one and only Church Jesus started. What then were the Scriptures Jesus read and expounded upon?

You don’t have the New Testament without the Church.

You don’t have the Old Testament without the people of Israel.

Pretty solid if you ask me.

You don’t have anything without Jesus. Now that’s pretty solid if you ask me. 😉

Jesus and what? Jesus has a Body, something you seem to leave out of the equation.

“Me and Jesus” has never worked. Detaching the Head from the Body only resorts in a corpse.

I’m sorry you and Jesus never worked. Open your heart to Him and He will heal what you feel is not working between the two of you.

“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24)

Apparently my point went over your head. Jesua CANNOT be separated from HIS Body, the Church.

So “me and Jesus” doesn’t cut it.

No it didn’t, you believe you need more then Jesus to get what you need from Him. I’m telling you if you ask God to help you with what you feel you are missing from Him, He will help you find it. I’m not cutting Jesus off from anything because Jesus is always exactly what we need, exactly how we need Him. He is always complete, never cut off. He is the One over everything. He is always in control.

“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24)

If all you need is Jesus, you also need The Body (or Church) by definition.
Everything is one in Christ. You can’t claim to have Jesus without also claiming The Church.
That means you accept human authority given by Christ, and you accept that the Scriptures came out of the human community that is iin Christ.
The bible is meaningless outside the context of The Church, by definition of who Christ is.

No you didn’t it. You said I did something I didn’t do. But if you explained in a previous post just post the # and I’ll go back to read it.

How can my comments I’m not cutting Jesus off from anything be a betrayal of the words He is all you need.

Okay, that works for me.

I’ll stick with nothing is left out when Jesus is involved.

God Bless
