Funny, Geldain, it was just yesterday that you called me a ācommie liberalā in the thread about Mass. mandatory health care bill. That would be posts 11, 13 and 15, to refresh your memory. And you seemed to think it was a perfectly okay thing to say. So you seem to be operating on a double standard. From the forum guidelines on posting:
**Terms of derision, derogatory remarks, baiting, and inflammatory statements are prohibited.
Avoid categorizing people by a term which could be considered derogatory (e.g., Nazi or neocon) unless they have embraced that title. In which case, you may qualify them with the term as long as you preface it with the word āavowed.ā Posters are asked to use their best judgement when posting articles using such terms. Do not abbreviate terms.

Did you ever read that thread?

Once again, Iād like to point out the double standard. People can talk about ācommie libsā (or Communist Liberals) and nary a word is said, yea they are defended and their posts get "amens from fellow āconservatives,ā but someone talks about a part of the country being backwards and itās just horrific. Noted. From the forum guidelines on posting:

Fair enough. The backwards comment was a bit much and I retract it if that will end this little spat.
Hope you donāt go looking for splinters if there is a plank in your own eyeJust expect me to be on the lookout for your side doing the same thing, okay?
Iām deadly serious on this. Want the link to the post and the āamens?āSarcasm noted.
Within this thread? Sure. If itās from another thread you need to bring it up in that specific thread. And if you do wish to do so, as John Kerry used to say (you know he was in VietNam?) ābring it onāIām deadly serious on this. Want the link to the post and the āamens?ā
It is also considered poor manners to call people names, as you yourself just posted. You appear to be a hypocrite. From the forum guidelines:
Donāt jump threads. If you get involved in an argument in one thread, itās considered poor manners to restart the previous argument in the middle of an unrelated thread. Also, if the moderator closes a thread, consider the subject closed and do not begin it anew in another thread.
Where did I call someone a name in this thread? Please, share it with us.It is also considered poor manners to call people names, as you yourself just posted.
Thank you for your observationYou appear to be a hypocrite.
Gosh, I only remember Bush saying ābring it onā to the Iraqi resistance.Within this thread? Sure. If itās from another thread you need to bring it up in that specific thread. And if you do wish to do so, as John Kerry used to say (you know he was in VietNam?) ābring it onā
I think the Bible belt has many buckles. Iāve heard of Springfield Missouri, Tulsa Oklahoma, Dallas, Nashville, Birmingham, and Atlanta all being the buckle of the bible belt. I think it just means something important to Evangelical Christianity is there. Tulsa Oklahoma has Oral Roberts University, Dallas has a big seminary there and a good number of megachurches, I think the Assembly of God headquarters is in Springfield. I donāt remember whatās in the other cities.I really donāt think Atlanta qualifies as the buckle of the Bible Belt. Iād vote for Tennessee, or Nashville if you want to pin it on a city.
I do not genaralize about any area of the country. Sorry, but you have the wrong poster.I think Iāll remember this whole episode when someone starts talking about California being the land of fruits and nuts or the āleft coastā thing. Whatās good for the gooseā¦
I also have lived in many areas of our great nation, but I am not an anuthority. So you have no right to be judgemental based on any number of years living there. Were you trying to evangelize when you lived there? There are too many variables for me to take your word for this nor would it be Catholic to gossip to such a degree.Hey, back off. **I said very clearly that it was a generalization **based on 33 years of residence.
If I were to make a comment about communists or liberals, I am not naming names or areas of the country. I donāt think you should either. A conservative has certain things they espouse, so what is wrong with that? I think you are mixing up conservative with something extreme, like maybe some mix up liberal with communist. There is a continuium. We are all on it somewhere.Once again, Iād like to point out the double standard. People can talk about ācommie libsā (or Communist Liberals) and nary a word is said, yea they are defended and their posts get "amens from fellow āconservatives,ā but someone talks about a part of the country being backwards and itās just horrific. You have justified the behaviour for which you are āapologizing.ā That justification negates your apology.Reread the thread in its entirety before you make such demands! :tsktsk:
Iāve already apologized to those in the South who are not like what Iāve said but there can be no apology to those who are like Iāve said.
Thatās not going to happen. Please just be more specific in your references.Once again, REREAD THE ENTIRE THREAD. :tsktsk:
OK. But I donāt see how qualifying your attack so that it is partially apologized for and partially not, is very helpful to your case.Do I have to give you the link to the post where I apologized to those in the South who are not like what Iāve said?
But why does it have to be about the South at all? Is there no ignorance, bigotry, and class war in the North? Why have you made it either totally or partially about the South? There can be no apology to those who are like what I have said.
You have not demonstrated that it is the truth. You have in fact demonstrated that it is of questionable logic, accuracy, and courtesy. It may not be politically correct but itās the truth.
You are looking to make it about conservatives rather than about what you actually said. You are only digging yourself in deeper. First it was about all the South, then about only part of the South; now it is about conservatives.Maybe thereās some kind of double standard for political correctnessā¦itās okay to be politically incorrect to āliberalā causes but not to āconservativeā ones? No, that canāt be it.
Kerry used it all the time during the primaries.Gosh, I only remember Bush saying ābring it onā to the Iraqi resistance.
'Twas a general statement. It frosts me to see people lambasted when they criticize one part of the country (one that votes āconservativeā) but itās open season on other parts (ones that vote āliberalā). If youāre consistent, then I have no quarrel.I do not genaralize about any area of the country. Sorry, but you have the wrong poster.
