I try to avoid cooking shows. I love them, mind you, but I then go on cooking binges and eating too much. When I DO watch them, bingeing is the way to go! My all time favorite was Julia Child though many of her shows haven’t aged well.

Do you remember the one that was a competition between kids? That show created great shame in me…how dare a bunch of kids be so creative and good!

I think of cooking or baking when watching these shows but it stops there.

I’m too lazy to actually follow up and actually cook or bake.

I actually enjoy gardening more than cooking. The end result is something delicious and healthy to eat plus you get exercise. Win-win in my book.

I love gardening in the spring. I’m sick to death of it by August! Cooking and baking enthusiasm waxes and wanes. I have no desire to turn on my oven in summer so I get all excited about grilling out. The first cold snap has me making roasts and soups. I’ll turn on the oven for brownies anytime! 😇.

I rarely cooked for 24 years when I worked the evening shift…I think I’m trying to make up for it now. It’s challenging when I’m cooking for five some days then just the two of us on other days. When it’s just me and hubby, we tend to try and clear out ant leftovers before they become microbiology experiments…when it’s five of us, trying to make something that at least four of us like is a problem. My daughter keeps telling me we need to just stick to scheduled meals…I don’t like that. I want more variety and to expose the grandkids to new tastes but kids aren’t very accommodating on that front. We do tend to have Italian on Mondays and Mexican on Tuesdays…but I’m starting to tire of those categories…that’s why I like binge watching cooking shows on occasion…new ideas!

I read somewhere that the average family eats the same 5-8 meals over and over.

Not in my house! I don’t like eating the same thing over and over. I don’t even cook chicken the same way 2 times in a row. 😂

Me either…goodness gracious, I’d be bored to tears. My tastebuds would be crying. I don’t cook any meat the same time twice in a row…unless it’s a meat that can only be cooked one way to begin with and I can’t think of any!

I probably would guess that I have 15 standard things I make but I rarely make the same dish twice in one month…except breakfast for dinner. That’s one thing we all love as we rarely have big breakfasts! We tend to have two and maybe three times a month!

oh, if you hate heat, this is very much the wrong place for you.

We hit 115F multiple times a summer, and 110F many times.

I think it was around 107F that we had to switch from swamp cooler to AC, but now we have a bigger motor, and we’ll see . . .

Yeah, I can’t handle heat. Had heat exhaustion or something twice. Not fun.

boy, you’re just determined to give me flashbacks, aren’t you . . .
 😱

During my naval misadventure, I got “counseled” by the drill instructor to the point of that . . . I was bouncing off the walls as I stumbled back . . .

I know that “they” say to use a mulching blade on your mower and not bag clippings, but I am not buying it. It does not break down.
Are you mowing often enough? More frequent cutting will help avoid the grass clumping issue. Also, double cutting by going back over the lawn in the opposite direction will help chop everything up.
On top of that, I cannot get my husband to stop going over the leaves in the fall with the mower, so now they are in there too.
If you have enough property, pile them up and make a leaf compost pile. Otherwise, mulching them does add a lot of nutrients back into the soil.

Here’s the seeds I’m going to plant this spring. The bells and hocks are going in the back rows due to their height. The alyssum go in an open area and the marigolds go in a corner spot near our driveway. I’m so excited! I love growing from seed when I can…so economical.

And is the blade sharp enough. It should be sharpened every year or two. THere’s a grinder to mount on a drill that makes it easy.

My mulched grass has been perhaps glitter sized. There is often a streak left, but that’s it.

And, one time, instead of mulching I let it toss to the side.

My daughter was coming, and wanted it to feed her rabbits . . . (and, the grandkids got to have snowball fights with it in the Las Vegas summer.

It was enough work to rake and bag it that she never asked again!
 🤣 😆

I had hollyhocks one year. They self seed sometimes. Mine have been gone for years, but last summer, towards fall, I saw a plant come up where I used to have them. Hoping it will bloom this year!

A neighbor a few doors down has them planted around her mailbox…we have curb mailboxes…and it’s so pretty. She has to keep them away from the door to the box but other than that, it looks like a postcard!

Need to finish clearing out the leaves. My husband put down this square old brick patio last year.

Very pretty. I love Daffodils if only because they remind me spring is coming. I start to see the first shoots coming out of the ground by mid January. It’s a nice pick me up from the winter blues. Daffodils down here are gone by early March and the Tulips are mostly gone now, too.

My daffodils came with the house, I just put in the tulips this year in a fenced area, and so far, the deer haven’t bothered them. 🙂
