Thank you, that clarifies the matter for me. He is right to leave no gray areas, especially with the heresies of today’s world being so pervasive.Basically he is saying that even though it is an automatic excommunication, he is doing it this way to make sure it is absolutely clear they are excommunicated. No grey areas for the Archbishop.
The one thing that bothers me though, and partly the reason I asked the question in my previous post, is that every time you have a situation such as this the media always makes it seem like it’s the Vatican or (Arch)Bishop N. who is excommunicating the offenders as if it’s just the ultraconservative pope/bishop’s backwards opinion. That ordination is a right, that women can be ordained, etc. are heresies that are not compatible with the Catholic Faith period. The Catholic Faith isn’t whatever somebody wants it to be. It’s time these people are honest and stop calling themselves Catholic.
