Day 7 done - Novena to St. Monica (looking better yesterday and this a.m.)! Praise the Lord!

Hi all,
I’m new here and just discovering this thread, which I see has been around for awhile! I pray that the Novena works for all of you who are praying it. I am in a similar situation as many of you. I am a life-long Episcopalian, about to start RCIA. My dh is a baptized Catholic, never confirmed, and does not practice any religion at all. He has been supportive in my practicing in the Episcopal church, and having our dd’s attending, baptized, etc. Now that I am seriously contemplating conversion to the Catholic church (and of course will want the girls to come with me), dh is not supportive at all. I will begin praying the Novena and will start the process of RCIA. Please pray for my family that even if dh does not choose to follow us, he will at least accept my decision to worship with my children as Catholics.

:blessyou:

Welcome, Run Mom, both to CAF & to the Catholic Faith!
I will pray for you daily as I pray for my dh’s conversion, and my family’s faith. May God Bless you and your family.

Prayer to St. Monica

Dear St. Monica, troubled wife and Mother,
Many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime,
Yet you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
You prayed daily for the conversion of your beloved husband, Patricius,
And your beloved son, Augustine;
Your prayers were answered.
Grant me that same fortitude, patience, and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me dear St. Monica
That God may favourably hear my prayer for

The conversion of my husband, and the strong faith of my children, the conversion of all sinners in my family, and of the spouses being prayed for here, by CAF members.

And grant me the grace to accept his will in all things,
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
In the unity of the Holy Spirit,
One God, forever and ever
Amen.

Does anyone here petition Our Lady’s help through the green scapular to aid the conversion of a loved one?

Okay,
I am new here and just found this thread. This is great. My husband became Catholic before we were married I was born Catholic but have recently been studying the faith b/c I want to pass it on to my 18 month old son. My husband is a bit “uncomfortable” talking about God or catholocism but doesn’t mind passing it on. However, I would love for him to get closer to God and be more involved. So I would love to join in. When did you guys begin the novena to St. Monica? I will definitely begin praying to her. I had no idea.
hugs,

Welcome!! It is an ongoing prayer, just join in, and also post whenever you want.

Welcome Eli! 👋

I have personally been praying for about 10 days. My family has been going through some very difficult times lately, especially my DH & my Son. By reciting the prayer to St. Monica each day, I am reminded to "perseveringly pursue my wayward men, not with wild threats, but with prayerful cries to heaven." as did St. Monica for her beloved husband, and son.

I hope this Novena helps your husband renew his faith, so he too may be a shining example of God’s love to your young son.

I actually remembered the novena over the weekend! :o 😃 (Obviously I didn’t get to post, but that doesn’t matter anyway I guess…)

Welcome eli 🙂

I too didn’t know about St. Monica until I found this thread. I think she is a wonderful example of love and trust in God’s will. 👍

One great thing about this thread is that we pray for each other. I include all the marriages and families represented here in my intentions, so even though we don’t know each other well, St. Monica brings our prayers for each other to God…and I think the more people praying for each other, the better! 👍 😃

Check out the rest of the board – there are lots of great resources and people here, and I’m sure you’ll find some interesting ways to learn more about our faith and how we are called to raise our children with it. God bless you and your family. 🙂
