Friends,
I prayed the prayer to St. Monica today. I bought a prayer card and the prayer is a bit different–is that okay?

I know I said my prayer already this morning, but it’s been a rough evening with hubby…

***PRAYER TO ST. MONICA

Dear St. Monica,
troubled wife and mother,
many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime.
Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion
of your beloved husband, Patricius,
and your beloved son, Augustine;
your prayers were answered.
Grant me that same fortitude, patience,
and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St. Monica,
that God may favorably hear my plea for

the conversion of my husband and the strong faith of my son, the conversion of all sinners in my family and of the spouses being prayed for here by CAF members,

and grant me the grace to accept His Will in all things,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.

Amen.

Immaculate Heart of Mary,
Pray for us now and at the hour of our death.

That is great to know. Now it has been a while since I have prayed the novena, it is one prayer a day for 9 days right?🤷

Day 9 Novena to St. Monica - completed. When is it going to take hold??

God (and the saints?) knows our intentions, so slightly different wordings are OK I’m sure.

Diana Lynn, I’m sorry it was a rough night. :hug1: Stay strong.

Yes, or you can pray the prayer once an hour for 9 hours straight.

Ah, the question we’d all love the answer to, right? :o I’m sure St. Monica wondered that herself… :grouphug:

Good morning all.

I was cleaning out some shelves this morning, and stumbled on an old journal with a forgotten pray written inside. I immediately thought to share it with all who are praying for husbands.
Lord, I commend my husband ____ to you this day,
That you would raise him up to be a man after your own heart.
That you would cause him to grow in wisdom and in knowledge
of you and become a holy and spiritual head of his home,
obedient to your will and humble in mind and action. *

God Bless you all! 👋

Belle,
HELP! I’m counting on you or someone at CAF - when is this going to kick in? I need help!!

Awesome! Sandraladeda! I will add that prayer to my morning daily prayers.

Mom4Truth, my heart breaks for you. I offer my suffering and my prayers up for you, that the Lord may intercede and bring peace into your home.

Belle,
HELP! I’m counting on you or someone at CAF - when is this going to kick in? I need help!!
I’m sorry I don’t have an answer for you. :hug1: I’ve wondered it myself, wondered if I’ll have to raise our DD (and any other children we may have) in the Catholic faith alone for my whole life. 😦 When I get discouraged though, I try (as hard as it is sometimes) to remember St. Monica’s persistence – we even mention it in the novena prayer. I know in day to day circumstances it’s difficult, but I honestly believe that praying confidently, believing that one day it will happen, is the best thing we can do. That one day may be the day before we die (hopefully it’ll be sooner :o ) but if that’s when it happens, then our prayers will have been answered.

I read a book a few years ago called How to Pray for Lost Loved Ones by Dutch Sheets. He’s a Christian (though I don’t believe he’s Catholic). I found the book to be very encouraging – you might want to check it out. Essentially, he talks about praying for our loved ones with profound faith that what we are asking for will happen. (Again, sounds like our novena prayer, right?) My problem is impatience: I want it and I want it now! :blushing: I don’t understand why God won’t give me what I’m asking for right now, but if I truly love Him and trust in Him, I have to keep trying to be patient and remind myself that His plan and timing are perfect.

I know it’s hard – I’m there with you. Just keep praying, never stop praying. I believe that as we ask St. Monica for her intercession, she is not only carrying our requests to Jesus, but she is also bringing His grace and strength to us. Don’t give up. :hug1: :grouphug:

Thank you so much for that new prayer. I will add it to my mommy prayers.
Friends,
When and how do you busy mommies pray your mommy prayers?:gopray2:

Diana & Belle,
You’re both godsends! (if I may say that). Such encouraging words and words that speak volumes. For some reason, though, probably due to the raw state I’m in, words are not “clicking” for me as is nothing right now. But please keep praying. My hope is in the Lord and in your prayers. Gratefully,

Hey eli 👋

Well, I usually pray a little bit all day. I just pray short, informal prayers whenever I think of people throughout the day. On the ride home I pray the chaplet of Divine Mercy and often also a Rosary (though I haven’t been too good about the Rosary lately :o). When I pray the chaplet, my daughter is in the car with me, so I figure it’s good for three reasons:
  1. I’m praying, which is always a good thing! 😃
  2. She’s with me, and although she’s only 2, we are gathered in His name, so He’s with us. 😃
  3. She’s getting used to hearing prayers so when she’s talking a little better, she can join in. 👍
I don’t give God enough quiet, undivided attention – not nearly as much as I should, but I think God knows where my heart is, knows I’m working on changing it, and doing the best in the meantime.
