nan:

Thank you for praying for us on this thread. You and your intentions will be included in my prayers! Thank you!šŸ™‚

Iā€™m backā€¦ladies - if you have a moment - would you please pray for my dh? He is going to his parents for the weekend (again) without me and the kids. (I donā€™t want to go, neither do the kids). He is really sinking and needs help. Thank you all. EVERYONE is in my prayers! God bless you and much love,

I had forgotten why he goes to his parents! It is awful lonely to think of this as a family unit being seperated, but i bet this enables him to not address issues he needs to. A master procrastinator like my own husband.

It is best the kids not see this, if drinking is involved, but again, i forgot the details.

You are in my prayersā€¦Nan too, god bless your helping us!

Now, we are one day further into praying for the few gone away on vacation, and Diana whom we adore due to her enormous heart. One with such gifts can often be overwhelmed with too much getting in, and burn out occur. I do not know if this is the case, all i wish, hope and pray for is her safe return!

Lana

He is going away this weekend because his niece is graduating from college. He does not drink - thank God. But, the other time he went home to his parents was because he needed to be ā€œtaken careā€ by his Mom. Grow up! Since Iā€™m sick all the time, as he puts it, I donā€™t take care of him. Everything is him, him, him! Iā€™m sick of it. I canā€™t help him if he wontā€™ help himself. Iā€™m starting to think he may be in a depression. Of course, he would never admit that and he totally HATES medication of any kind. Heā€™s too proud to admit this. Get over that one too! Iā€™ve had to get over a lot of things in my life so I know it can be done. Alienating himself from the family (our family) is really bad. Heā€™s making the kids angry and they feel he doesnā€™t participate in their lives - which he doesnā€™t, really. Sad. Well, itā€™s up to the Holy Spirit to figure this one out, because I sure as heck canā€™t. Thanks all for praying. Praying for all of you, too!šŸ˜¦

I wanted to start this thread as a place for wives with unbelieving/non-Catholic husbands to come together to pray and support each other. I am a Catholic convert of 2 years now and pray every day for the conversion of my husband. I have found the intercession of St. Monica to be very encouraging, so thought maybe she could be the patroness saint of this thread.

Please join and introduce yourselves!
Didnt moses say dont pray to false gods??
Iā€™m sure by praying to saints is like throwing them words back in his faceā€¦

whiteknite:

I donā€™t understand what you mean by your post. Can you clarify that, please? Thanks!šŸ‘

I think it speaks for itself if you read it properā€¦
Praying to a saint is wrong. You must pray to the one in which created you. Not a saint.
That is just like praying to a false god.
I hear about people praying to patriot saints all the time!! For what??
There dead, They werent angels or anything but mere men or women.
The bible tells you not to pray to false gods does it not??

Amen
but maybe not so harsh, but i am a softy prophets (PBWT) were not so

Jesus (PBWH) taght to pray to The Father He is the way He prayed to The Father.
The Father sees all and Knows all, saints are great intercessors but The Father knows the true hearts.
what happened to Saul?

May God guide us all

Thatā€™s ā€œpatronā€ saints, not patriot. No one prays to a saint, although I can see how you would be confused because that is the term used. One is only asking a dear friend to pray for an intentionā€”in the same way that you might ask a co-worker or relative to pray for you. In believing in the afterlife we know that Jesus has conquered death and that the communion of saints is more active and alive today than when they were on earth. As a mom I fully intend to pray for my children and grandchildren and to go to Jesus for advice in heavenā€“once a mom, always a mom:)

Familyisit,
i like you post very much the sentiment is most beautiful.
For Me
I guess i am conservative, in death we will be in our true state without opportunity of change.
Only God knows what is pure heart of us each.
Jesus (PBWH) never taught the requesting prayer from saints.
I personally do request praying with Mary (BBHN) with parishioners. She is a biblical figure.
I respect what you say but it is worth asking ones self where our ideas come from.
May the God who is above all purify all of both our prayers and grant that of His will.

I think (perhaps!) a couple of you may not be Catholic? Anyway, when we say we pray to the ā€œsaintsā€ we are asking for their intercession on our behalf to take our requests to Jesus. Like the other poster said, the saints are now in heaven and can do much more than we can on earth for they are with the Lord. We are not praying to idols. An idol would be a tree trunk, or a car, or some materialistic object. Saints were ā€œlivingā€ people who passed on and granted miracles to those on earth - just because of their intercession to the Lord. Think of it this way, I pray for you. Iā€™m not dead. You pray for me, youā€™re not dead. You and I are not idols, are we? Therefore, when we pray for each other we asking the Lord, Our Blessed Mother, Saints to intercede on our behalf. Thatā€™s allā€¦šŸ™‚

Dear whiteknight and Steven John ~ although your views are valuable and most welcome at CAF, this particular thread is not an appropriate place for the debate of intercessory prayer to saints. You are most welcome to begin a new thread on this subject in the Apologetics Forum. However you may want to do a little reading on the subject first. The CAF library has some helpful articles detailing the Catholic view. Some reading from the Holy Bible may also be of help to you, but again please take any debate away from this thread: MK 12:26-27, Mk 9:4, Lk 23:43, Heb 12:1, Wis 3:1-6, Jos 5:14, Dan 8:17, Tob 12:16.

Please do not take offense, but is it quite disturbing to me, and may possibly be so to others as well to have our prayers here interrupted with questions such as your own. We are praying for very serious matters here, those which are dearest to our hearts. I would sincerely appreciate being allowed to pray with my sisters in Christ here in peace.

May the peace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.

Love,
Bee

Prayer to Saint Joseph for all sick husbands to find help.

O glorious St. Joseph,
friend of the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
thou whose power renders impossible things possible,
come to our aid in our present trouble and distress.
Take these important and difficult affairs
which we recommend to your protection,
that they may end happily.

O dear St. Joseph,
all our confidence is in you.
Let it not be said that we have invoked you in vain,
and since you are so powerful with Jesus and Mary,
show that your goodness equals power.

Amen.

St. Joseph, friend of the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
pray for us and for all who invoke your aid.

St. Joseph, friend of the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
pray for us and for all who invoke your aid.

St. Joseph, friend of the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
pray for us and for all who invoke your aid.

**PRAYER TO ST. MONICA

Dear St. Monica,
troubled wife and mother,
many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime.
Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion
of your beloved husband, Patricius,
and your beloved son, Augustine;
your prayers were answered.
Grant me that same fortitude, patience,
and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St. Monica,
that God may favorably hear my plea for

the conversion of my husband, healing and salvation of our marriage, and the strong faith of our son, the conversion of all sinners in our families and of the spouses being prayed for here by CAF members,**

and grant me the grace to accept His Will in all things,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.

Amen.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.

Jesus, I trust in You!

Excellent replies. šŸ‘ šŸ˜ƒ

Hope all you ladies (and gents) have a good day today. :grouphug:

I think my point is now shown ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Yes your point was shown, and was read. However it is not of OUR belief. We are praying, in the fashion we believe, and do not want to debate our beliefs. Like said politely, there is a politial format for this. However, in a prayer thread, it is not the place.

We ask anyone and everyone to pray for the fallen husbands in our lives, as we see the pain it has caused in our lives, our childrens lives, and how far and wide it can divide.

We are simply grouping together with similar needs making sure each of us does not fall into dispair. That can hinder our own pathes. We are here to stay ON the path with the Lord, and every tool he has placed before us, we will try and use.

St. Monica is one, My son in heaven is one, My grandfather in heaven is one, My grandmother in heaven is one, My Aunts and uncles that are in heaven as well are some as well.

Look up intersessionā€¦it does not mean worship.

Two totally, completely, and as far a s wide topics!

Hi Nikki ā€“ no word on the job yet. šŸ˜¦ DH is supposed to be calling (per my instruction šŸ˜› ) today to check in with them, remind them how awesome he is šŸ˜› šŸ˜ƒ but as he is working with a friend today (and itā€™s paid work) I have a feeling he wonā€™t get to itā€¦weā€™ll see.

Thanks for remembering our situation. Hope all is well with you! :hug1:
