Buckley had dialog. Debates. Rush ended opposing viewpoints early on turning his show into a single point of view unchallenged format. Essentially a three hour infomercial for one party

Yes the comparison to Buckley is appalling.

But the worst of Rush was not his partisanship, but his disrespect for the truth. He fashioned the standard of conservative taljk - so often echoed here - that seeks to gain ground by completely misrepresenting the views of opponents. The foundation of this rhetoric is not to illuminating the truth and develop a path to win, but to cheat and win. It is inimical to the good citizenship required in a democratic republic.

His message hid what you you describe. It was never completely false. It was a combination of truth and falsity that hid the falsity. After 30 years, it became easy to deconstruct, but by then he made his audience apprentices.
