How are the little people meant to make the change needed in Congo, Haiti, …
Perhaps you should read how the wealthy around the world donated possibly $14 billion to the Clinton Foundation, CGI (Clinton Global Initiative) and its various affiliates to help Haiti after an earthquake and hurricane devastated the island but after all was said and done only a few shelters were built.

With God all things are possible. Without God not so much.

As Ayn Rand was so fond of saying, check your premises. It’s good advice regardless of whether one shares her views or not.
It is odd to see Ayn Rand, and avowed atheist and promoter of abortion rights, quoted for advice, even with the weak disclaimer at the end. It just shows how her libertarian politics are more important to some people than her very anti-Christian views. I can just imagine how it would go down if someone quoted some pithy saying of Saul Alinsky, and then followed it with “It’s good advice regardless of whether one shares his views or not.

Even Archbishop Vigano is worried about it:
Archbishop Vigano mentions vaccine programs against COVID-19 and COVID-21 run by Bill Gates in one part of that letter.
Ironically, Gates couldn’t protect his Windows OS from viruses but now he wants to protect the world population from them?

There was a whole industry for cybersecurity built up around the vulnerability of Windows and the same thing will happen around Covid if Bill gets any (name removed by moderator)ut.

Perhaps because Alinsky didn’t put out any “pithy sayings” just those not worth sharing?

If you disagree feel free to share some of those pithy quotes.

It is even more odd to see someone like you who opines that abortion as a procedure and the Democrats as a party (which is atheistic in its promotion of abortion) should be tolerated and voted for for the sake of other goods that are at stake. 🤔

I thought such issues weren’t just either/or but nuanced, but now there is no tolerance for Ayn Rand’s views at all?

Is “check your premises” now bad advice BECAUSE Ayn Rand said it? That is bizarre.

And just how does showing agreement with “check your premises” show that “her libertarian politics are more important to some people than her very anti-Christian views.” I don’t see the logical connection.

You really seem not to understand the genetic fallacy.

I have never opined that abortion should be tolerated.

You know about the line item veto, right? It is a power that presidents and governors desire to allow them to sign a bill, but not accept everything in the bill. Well, I wish we as voters had a line item veto when we vote, so that we could vote for a candidate, but then register a veto on those aspects of the candidate’s platform we disagree with. Unfortunately there is no such thing. So we have to make a binary choice, weighing everything together. That is why we sometimes vote for someone even though we do not support all of their policies.

So Democrat candidates should not be elected if they support abortion?

That was a whole lotta speculation based on a three word quote.

See edit above.

Right, so how does the “line items” line of thinking not apply to someone reading or quoting Ayn Rand?

Seems to me that if you can accuse someone of doing with Ayn Rand what you do with supporting the Democrats then your blistering…
It is odd to see Ayn Rand, and avowed atheist and promoter of abortion rights, quoted for advice, even with the weak disclaimer at the end.
…applies equally to you.

Ergo, by your own reasoning your support for line items in Democrat policy amounts to “a weak disclaimer at the end.”

Hoisted on one’s own petard?
That is why we sometimes vote for
someone even though we do not support all of their policies [ideas].

Look at who wants the “Great reset”? These people want to halt innovation and stop competition.

It can’t just be about handing over money and forgetting about it. The whole attitude to healthy economy has to be reset. We can no longer just accept exploitation as a legitimate way to generate wealth. It has to stop.

Right. So let us allow the wealthy elites to be in charge of stopping the exploitation.

There are not too many places in “the rest of the world” that I would want to be in a health emergency
Australia, Canada, UK, pretty much all of Western Europe, Scandinavia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore…
I could go on. They are all measurable compared to US

They are all great health care systems. And you wouldn’t be stressed about costs or insurance like in the US.

To be stuck with $16,000 bill just for an ambulance ride after a bad accident is like pouring salt in a wound.

People go on and on about shopping around for lower cost, but if you’re unconscious being rushed to the hospital I doubt you can comparison shop for the best ambulance deal.

This is based on personal experiences, or textbook?

We are talking about particular leaders and leaders of industry with the wisdom to see the big picture. The common good. If someone loses, in the end we are all losers. Injustice for one is injustice for everyone. That individual rights are nothing without a proper appreciation for human rights. These things can be understood by nature. The golden rule.
