Considering that Zimmerman pursued Martin and that on the police call he used a racial epithet, that leads me to a certain conclusion. Zimmerman should be arrested and prosecuted
More jumping to conclusions because Zimmerman is Hispanic. The police have not said that a racial epithet was used but only that it “may” have been used. In fact, the word is unclear but appears to have been misunderstood as another word that rhymes with a racial epithet. Zimmerman’s friend, his black friend has been very focal in Zimmerman’s defense and has spoken about this particular part of the tragedy, as well.

Feel free to list those “deeper questions.”
I remember none.
Of course you don’t-your hooked into your own agenda. Your more often practiced at repeated two word answers like “he’s dead”, “he’s a child” etc. Try a real debate. Heres a deeper question if you can handle it. Can you defend yourself against a boy?

I knew you wouldn’t list your “serious” questions. No surprise to me at all.

***Depends on the boy, on my health,
on the circumstances, on my options -
on so many variables.

I’m a 66 yr-old woman with rheumatoid arthritis.
I’m CERTAIN I would not be outside, trailing any
“suspicious” person who was a stranger on a rainy night ***

How do you know that?
The shooter wasn’t arrested, the kid was unarmed, and the unarmed kid is dead. That’s how I know. And I’ve listened to the police tape numerous times and he used racist language.
Were you there?
No, but I also wasn’t around during WWII and I know a lot about it despite my not being there.

Really? Shooting someone doesn’t result in arrest? Then why were the DC snipers arrested?
I was replying to the comment that “whenever” someone shoots, an arrest is made. What some people refuse to accept is that the police and prosecuters must have probable cause to make an arrest. If it were as simple as some people think it is, an arrest would’ve already been made.

It is simple. An unarmed kid was shot by an armed man. That’s all the probable cause needed.

Well, I had to start with one serious question first being that you didn’t answer the others, so don’t be surprised. Based on your response, I’m glad I didn’t re-list the others. Same old mantra.

Really? What channel/station to you watch or listen to has been playing the tapes without bleeping certain words?

I agree with Classic57, it’s been over a month now, and the Sanford police, who have more details of this case than all of us combined, still have not come up with probable cause to arrest George Zimmerman.
I am not going to live an breath this thread but I found a couple of post in the last couple hundred that interest me. As I said before, I find this interesting professionally.

Police do not always do the right thing. Some departments, a few, decide course of action based on what is least likely to result in their being sued, and not what is right. There can be little assumed by the action of the police.

And some police departments jump the gun and make an arrest when a person is innocent of a crime, leading to a lot of money wasted on a messy trial that leads to an acquittal.

The State of FL would have to prove beyond a shadow of doubt that Zimmerman did not shoot Trayvon in self defense.
I do not know the Florida law, but no one has this level of burden of proof. Only the level of reasonable doubt needs to be proved. Beyond that, at least here, self-defense is an affirmative defense, meaning the shooter has to show with preponderance of evidence that it was self-defense. In this, what is know as totality of circumstances is considered by a jury, including the age and size of the victim, the assailant, injuries, potential injuries, etc. The toughie for Zimmerman to overcome will be that he was armed and Martin was not.

Maybe some one familiar with Florida law can weigh in.

Suggestion: then don’t ask.

Cases can always be dismissed, especially if new evidence comes to light. But you have a valid point. For me, I have always preferred that someone make a decision to avoiding a decision, but that is just me. Maybe this DA and police agency just use the Grand Jury a lot.
