Things in Ukraine have been busy today…

There are conflicting rumors about whether Yanukovych has resigned. At any rate he hasn’t been seen in public and hasn’t been performing any government functions. An MP requested that the Ukrainian aviation authority inform them where Yanukovych’s plane flew yesterday. His multimillion dollar private estate north of Kyiv was abandoned early this morning. In his absence, the parliament has taken it upon themselves to run the country. They’ve appointed a new speaker of parliament (prior speaker had resigned), appointed an acting PM and acting interior minister, and set elections for May. They will resume their session at 4 pm Kyiv time.

And there has been no bloodshed today.

The big question now, is what happens to the pro-Russian eastern part of Ukraine. Yanukovych has mentioned the danger of the country splitting into 2 parts.

The Ukraine right now is being subjected to a classic PTO (Political Takeover) Operation.

What happened was that alliances were formed with Western Ukrainians with, I suspect, political elements of the EU; and for the last few months money, equipment and personnel have been smuggled into the Western Ukraine, then further East into Kiev, under the guise of being ordinary citizens and protesters.

In reality, the whole thing was orchestrated. The cops were beaten in Kiev again and again because cops are trained to deal with ordinary citizens, not armies.

What gave the game away was the news that the “protesters” or “rioters” were “kidnapping” scores of cops.

Protesters and rioters don’t kidnap cops - that’s dangerous, because cops tend to be stronger than you and are liabilities because they have better training than you. Also because their buddies will be looking for them which, if you are an ordinary citizen, would normally scare you enough because the state looks down on such things as kidnapping cops. But these people weren’t afraid of this at all.

Now protesters and mobs don’t take people captive.

Armies, however, do take prisoners.

So as the violence escalated the “protesters” found themselves oddly ready at each point to take control of Kiev. When cops were sent in to deal with rioters, the protesters suddenly had squads of snipers and anti-riot police elements on the ready, who pushed back and defeated the cops and maintained control of the ground they seized.

Next, once the cops retreated from Kiev, the protesters again conveniently had at the ready squads of their own riot police and deployed them across the city.

This is to control and intimidate the populace and whatever poor politicians are still in the capitol.

This is also why the Ukrainian President fled Kiev.

At no point have the “protesters” been unprepared, which betrays a lot of planning, training and a strict and effective command and control structure in place. It also makes it plain that the escalations we’ve seen were not random, spontaneous or sporadic but only meant to appear that way.

This is a military coup doing its best to defeat a democratically elected government without alarming Western eyes and sentiments.

BBC - MPs have voted to oust President Yanukovych and hold early presidential elections on 25 May.

The vote came barely an hour after Mr Yanukovych said in a televised address that he would not resign.

Protesters have walked unchallenged into the president’s office and residential compounds.

The opposition is in effective control of the capital Kiev, with Mr Yanukovych now in the eastern city of Kharkiv, near the Russian border.

BBC - Ukraine crisis: No talk of split in eastern city of Kharkiv

Here in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, the most important thing coming out of a congress of pro-Yanukovych politicians is the sentiment that they don’t want Ukraine to split but to remain united.

Kharkiv’s regional governor, Mikhaylo Dobkin, told the meeting of MPs from predominantly Russian-speaking areas of eastern Ukraine and Crimea : “We’re not preparing to break up the country. We want to preserve it.”

However, they have refused to recognise developments in the national parliament. They are calling “fascist” those who have taken power in Kiev, and do not want armed fighters to come to their towns.

In a resolution they determined to “take responsibility for safeguarding the constitutional order, legality, citizens’ rights and their security on our territories”.

Near the sports palace where the congress is taking place, there is a big rally of thousands of people in support of Kiev’s opposition protesters. But power has shifted in Kiev and the authorities’ mood here has changed with it.

Previously, the demonstrators were beaten and dispersed. But now they are being protected by police from several hundred pro-Russians who are shouting at them.

These are -as the article would have us believe- mere “protesters” who are “standing guard” to control Kiev.

Notice especially the colour coded scarves. Notice the formation. Who deployed these guys to this position? Who leads them? Who supplies them with food and water?

This is an incredible situation. The protestors are all inside and controlling Yanukovych’s opulent presidential house. Parliament has impeached Yanykovych, only an hour after he televised a broadcast claiming that he was still President and refused to resign.

On the BBC, the reporter is saying that the protestors are knocking down the statues of Soviet leader Lenin as a symbol that the people are rejecting the rule of Moscow and Russia’s influence in the country.

The military have had a news conference at which they have stated that they will not turn on the people of Ukraine and act on the protestors, while Yanukovych is currently trying to gather the army together under his command. The military chiefs have stated that they no longer answer to him.

Yanukovych claims this to be a coup, however the Polish foreign minister has stated that it is not a coup because government buildings were vacated, this is a popular uprising and parliament has ousted Yanukovych itself, which they have the authority to do as the legitimate representatives of the people.

It has been amazing and concerning in equal measure to watch this situation unfold. My prayers are with the Ukrainian people. I hope that no further violence ensues and that a transitional government comes into effect.

Kyrie Eleison 17 I think that’s a believable summary of what we’ve seen occur in Ukraine in the past week. Most people refuse to believe that the West has it in for Russia big time, for preventing the takeovers of Syria and South Ossetia, blocking resolutions on Iran, etc. I remember when the UK newspaper The Guardian ran an expose of all the Western agencies who were behind the Orange Revolution in 2004, alot of people said that was just a lying commie rag and that George Soros wasn’t really attempting to put his kind of people in power in Ukraine.
Russia is in the crosshairs of the globalist Western powers. Don't be surprised if protests against pro-Russian governments break out in Belarus or Kazakhstan next.

Guess its time for the “agitators” to scratch at old wounds to help disable a democratic government. Pit one against the other and repeat, repeatedly, that one side is not “true” Ukrainian or that a horrible former neighbor has moved back. Distract and claim you are the victim. Yell unfounded scandalous charges at outsiders who will probably not learn of them. I see some of these tactics at work - they seem to keep doing the job of festering hatred.

“News” is probably not reliable until one has had a chance to poke at it to test its accuracy. When its clear that “news” is being used as propaganda people have to think the matter through. Use what is known to be solid and build from there. Who has had the gold and been making the rules? Who has cozied up to gain some power? Who has the most power among the rule makers? Who are their cheer leaders?

If the people have sacrificed to gain a foothold in a government that elects its leaders then they have to, must, stand up and see to it that their chosen form of government continues to thrive. Those who were chosen and failed to perform honestly must be identified and removed. Promises have a short time limit!

I hope the good people can stick to what has been their aim - ignore distractions. Sacrifice has been made, is being made and will probably need to be again. Keep going!

My fear is that we are seeing the first beginnings of world wide anarchy. I believe it’s time to get serious about our own personal situations and our families and getting strong spiritually. I’m talking about stretching our muscles for fasting, self-denial and penances. We need to get in control of our minds and our emotions and become strong so we won’t be led down a path that is displeasing to God.

I’m not a fan of Russia and am 100% in love with the Ukrainian people. But emotions and feelings aside…when a people can see that if you get enough souls organized and rounded up, you can topple any elected government or government official that you don’t like or have good reason to be angry with. At one time, a population mumbled and grumbled and was angry but patient enough to wait until the next election.

I fear those days are coming to an end.

I sympathise entirely with the points you raise, which are relevant and accurate. It would certainly be a worrying precedent if populations could simply rally together and topple unpopular governments, breeding instability worldwide.

Nevertheless, I do still feel that the situations in Ukraine and Egypt are atypical rather than typical. There are overriding circumstances in both countries that make their revolutionary situations distinct from the mundane affairs occurring largely in the West.

Corruption is so rife in Ukraine that oligarchs have a monopoly on politics. It is quite different from politics in most Western societies.

Funnily, we pray the “Hail Mary” the same way, Ukrainian Catholics and Ukrainian Orthodox. I think there will be Catholic funerals for the deceased Catholics and Orthodox for the Orthodox. The priests I believe were from both churches.
