I dunno. When the refrigerated trucks are brought in, in greater numbers than they were last time, I don’t think he’ll have a choice.

Of course not. He’s the President-Elect, regardless of the baseless claims of Trump supporters.

That remains to be seen.Still counting and investigating the fraud.

Of course still counting. But no fraud. Regardless, your prediction that “the covid won’t be talked about much now if Biden prevails” has already been proven false.

I get really queasy talking about single payer, mainly because our government can’t manage anything complex.
In Canada, the federal government sets the standards of coverage the provinces must adhere to, and provides equalization money so that poorer and richer provinces can adhere to the same standards.

But the actual running of the health care system, actually plural « systems », is done by the provinces. Each province has jurisdiction over its own health ministry. The feds ensure standards and portability: you’re from Ontario and you get sick while visiting family in BC, and your Ontario plan will cover your costs in BC.

Some provinces (Ontario) charge a modest health insurance premium, others like Quebec bury it in taxes.

No system is perfect, but I don’t have to worry about bankruptcy if I get seriously ill and rack up $100k+ in costs.

All healthcare systems ration healthcare. There is a difference between failing to provide a procedure and stabbing someone to death in the womb.

Perhaps not full time, anyway. And he might have had to handle his crisis volunteering as a second job.
i would imagine that medicare would help him to stretch his personal resources further.

has worse outcomes than ours (average life expectancy being one measure), perhaps could use a bit more tweaking.
But I wonder if the life expectancy of the fetus in the womb is being factored into these equations.
If we start measuring life expectancy at birth, we are going to get skewed results versus the results we would see in areas with high abortificient contraceptive use or high physical abortion rates.

Is it not possible to stick to the topic?

Since both countries pretty much have abortion on demand, I think you can pretty safely take that factor out of the equation when comparing health outcomes.

Is it not possible to stick to the topic?
Pie in the sky. Start a tread about the relative merits of different flavors of ice-cream, and it WILL degenerate into: “what what about abortions?”. So very boring.

I’m sorry for you than you find abortion so very boring,How very sad that we have this scourge on our society and so ,many keep voting for this evil to persist even in its most extreme form. Here in Colorado a proposition to at least stop abortions after22 weeks failed miserably. We are only one of 7 states that allow the dismembering of babies up u til birth.Still bored,or are you equally outraged?🤨

I don’t think it’s the topic of abortion. I also find it tiring that even in discussions that have nothing to do with abortion, a few posters always bring it around to that so that it basically shuts down any discussion of other important subjects.

I think most of us here, particularly myself who was born to an18 y.o. unwed mother and adopted into a loving family, agree that abortion is a scourge. Even when we disagree on the best means to reduce abortion.

That said, I would appreciate it if you and the others who do the same, would in fact not derail our discussions by making every topic all about abortion. It effectively hijacks discussions and shuts them down. It is unfair to posters who would actually like to dialogue about other subjects.

I ask this in all charity and humility. There are topics that are directly related to abortion where I would be happy to support your stand against abortion and the best means of reducing it to the maximum extent possible.

Going back to the election. Is anyone here, who plays chess? I am not kidding. Any chess player resigns when the game is over, even though the “checkmate” has not been announced yet. It is elementary courtesy not drag out a hopeless situation, in the vain hope that the other party will make a blunder, and lose… But that requires a civilized approach.
