US president undermines Catholic schools after Vatican Prefect praised them

For as far back as I can remember, I’ve generally had no problem with sitting presidents doing the routine things that presidents do and making the obligatory remarks in support of peace, unity etc.

It’s actually kind of comical how in the current state of affairs, every presidential breath becomes a subject of controversy. Somewhere is the dusty recesses of my mind, I seem to remember learning the obligation to respect the office of the president regardless of who occupies that seat.

I expect most people still do respect the office. At time, however, the conduct of the man does not command respect for the man. that’s a different thing.

It just gets worse day by day with this guy. This is just 6 months into his second term. I think we are getting a glipse of what he meant by “More flexibility”.
I have a feeling his to do list looks something like this
  • force Catholics to provide birth control against their will… check
  • Arm Al Qaeda in Syria… check
  • use nsa spying for blackmail of congress, and supreme court… check
  • eliminate Catholic education
  • jail Catholic Priests who refuse to marry homosexuals
  • outlaw home schooling
  • Make marriage between men and women illegal
  • Start war with Israel through its neighbors
  • Set up provisional Israeli Government and become interim Prime Minister
  • Establish state sponsored Religion which tollerates everything but God
  • Criminalize all Religion but state sponsored religion
  • make any mention of Jesus Christ a capital offence
  • Establish Jerusalem as the Capital of the world
  • Turn rebuilt temple into the White house of the world
  • Make the Holy of Holies the oval office
  • Take rightful seat on throne in Holy of Holies, and declare divinity
  • eliminate Catholics

He IS in Northern Ireland. His remarks should be seen in light of the problems in that region.

Is there any issue that is not reducible to a comparison with segregation in America? When the only intellectual tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.

So do you agree with Obama that the divisions of Ireland are caused by seperate (Catholic/Protestant) religious education? If that is so then certainly his comments are appropriate. But if not, then they are ripe for criticism.
 
There’s already one thread in this forum about this same news story. The reason we need another one is . . . ???

I don’t agree. He knows whatever he says publically will be transmitted all over the world. I think he is sending a message. While he may not be the one to complete that to do list, that is the direction he has set his compass.

The reason is because I did a search for the topic before I posted and it came up blank. It’s funny… I go to a number of different forums, but some of the most abbrasive responses I get are here. If the mods want to remove this thread I don’t have a problem with that.

Sad how that doesn’t even seem far fetched, to me. I would laugh at the clever to-do list, but it is a shade too probable for humor, these days.

I am completely revolted and have but the highest degree of contempt for this foreigner who has completely bastardized what once was a noble office to hold in our country.This totally corrupt media creature is what the American electorate voted in to put before the Throne of God as representative of us.GOD HELP US ALL.He is systematically destroying this great republic,doing everything he can to corrupt morals and ethics,and abusing the government outright and with subtlety to hinder,block,or challenge our constitutional rights.I have never in my life so despised anyone as I do this creature.I would wish the name of him obliterated from mine and my country's memory.People who admire this Abomination in the White House deserve what is coming.

This is ridiculous. He’s not calling for the end of Catholic education, he’s giving an example of the division present in Northern Ireland, based on his audience, who were school-aged children. He’s saying that these two groups are more separate than they should be.

I wonder why no one is pointing out that he included Protestant schools in the same thought. It should be “President makes alarming call for end to Catholic and Protestant education.” Very misleading to say he only mentioned Catholic schools.
 
I’m not exactly sure if he is against religious schools or segregated public schools but I think it’s always wrong for the president to consider the state and not the parents having the primary responsibility of education of children.
