Where is the Catholic outrage over recent American immigration policies?

Who is being treated less than human?

In all of your discussions, you are ignoring the fact that they have broken a just law, and are therefore paying the penalty for that action. It is not inhumane to demenad that someone pay for their crime.

I’m dropping out of this conversation though. You obviously don’t want to hear any viewpoint other than your own, so have fun bashing on people who disagree with you. I don’t have time or energy for it right now.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, a prominent Catholic leader in the United States, said Friday there is no biblical defense for separating families, condemning the practice as “unjust” and “un-American.”
If they are really their parents.

Neither does parents endangering their children by attempting to enter a country illegally.
Exactly. It’s very irresponsible to drag your family over the border. I understand why they do it; however, there are consequences and this is one of them.

All sides, left and right, know this is happening. Go to Fox News, CNN, Catholic News Agency, America Magazine, USCCB, or just type in immigration on Google.

I agree, faith comes first.

And our faith explcitly tells us that the handling of immigration is a prudential judgment which we are free to arrive at our own conclusions on, so long as those conclucsions continue to operate within the bounds of good morality.

It is not immoral to separate a child from their parents if those parents have done something which results in their incarceration. Therefore, it is not immoral to separate the child from their parents, who have entered the nation illegally.

It’s tragic. It’d be great if we could come up with another solution, but until that solution presents itself I will continue to believe that we are doing the best we can with a terrible situation.

Tell you what, instead of wasting your time bad mouthing other Catholics because they’ve arrived at a different (permissible) conclusion than you, why don’t you actually try to come up with an idea to solve the problem?

I’m out now, won’t be posting again. Feel free to respond if you feel like wasting your time.

What are you asking
The claim is children are being separated from parents. Provide evidence.
The administration has admitted as much. Proof enough for you?

Don’t even know how to respond to this.

Again, debasing immigrants…

Here is what I know.

Many come in and claim the children are theirs. Agents then find out they are not. They know how to work the system.

Got a link?
Why? So you can shoot it down for any one of a number of spurious reasons? No thanks, fella. Got better things to do with my time. Try reading a news source that isn’t biased toward your preconceived notions, for once.

Oh right, I forgot, illegal immigrants don’t have human dignity. We can debase them all we want!!

So what’s your proposal on this matter? Have you written a letter to your President with your proposals for immigration reform?

The President has said he is against open borders and has also stated that he doesn’t intend to transform America into a migrant refugee camp. But he is interested in getting people to work together on this, and find an amicable solution.

Actually, they aren’t “immigrants” at all, but asylum seekers and applicants who presumably intend to head back once their situation is resolved in their homeland.

  • Who broke the law? They did.
  • Who recklessly dragged their family here? They did.
  • Who knew the penalties for illegally entering and staying in the country? They did.
Here’s the Solution:
  1. Deport the entire family
  2. Charge Mexico for everything
  3. Economically Sanction the Mexican Government

I’m not intending to bash Trump or either side on the political spectrum.

My “thesis” is that Catholics should be outraged at the separation of parents from their children.
