we are the worst, by far, both in numbers dead and numbers infected.
Again, what does that prove as far a response when you factor in other variables which I’m not going to continue to repeat. What logic am I supposed to gain by numbers alone not accounting for other variables?
Had more stringent travel restrictions been placed nationwide, along with mandatory distancing and masking restriction, there are people who are now dead who would be alive, based on the evidence of other nations.
You can keep saying this, but there is no proof that we would be better or worse off. We are not communists that implement mandatory anything at the risk of imprisonment. If that means the population can make it’s own assessment of risk based on guidelines given and behave accordingly, I’ll take it. I’m free to wear a mask or not wear one. I’m free to go where I want or stay home. I say this as someone who does wear a mask in most circumstances and limits my travel to about a 25 mi radius from my home. I would never think to impose my level of my personal risk assessment on others. I don’t have to walk in their shoes. We also do not know that the deaths reported in other countries are honest and accurate.

Good point. Most governmental response to covid has been by the states - which is precisely as it should be. When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, George W. Bush was wrongly blamed for the federal response when in fact the federal government is largely always a mere backup for the states.
That’s federalism in the states.

Actually, there have been some failed abortion attempts that the child lived.

Point is, nothing he has done has any affect on the number of abortions being performed in this country.

Well, this same logic now, would pertain to Governor Abbot who you were praising weeks ago. So, are you also saying Governor Abbot has killed people?
Yes. He miscalculated, assuming a moral character in most people that did not exist. The order to mask under threat of fine should have come with the order to open. He has admitted his error. That is one distance between a leader and one who is not a leader. A leader accepts blame and moves forward. One who is not tries to shift blame to others while ignoring the need to learn from a mistake.
You can keep saying this, but there is no proof that we would be better or worse off.
Try applying a little logic here. “Proof” of what might happen in an alternative timeline, if this or that had happened, is impossible, at least for anyone except God.

Let it not lost on anyone, most who criticize Trump now, criticized him 6 months ago or even years ago
Precisely, because we could see through the biggest, greatest, best nonsense that he has spewed his entire adult life for the true con man he is.

Abbott, my governor, is certainly questioning his actions over the previous months, as we are seeing a surges, and about to roll back some of the previous openings.

We’re judged by what we try to do, not what we succeed at. By the standard being applied, I can be a pro-life zealot; beg pregnant women not to go into an abortion clinic; be a governor and appoint pro life judges to the state courts, etc., and if I can’t point to a single abortion I prevented, I might as well have been a member of NARAL.

LOL. FWIW, this is a good discussion we have going. Occasionally heated, but good.

What does homogeneous have to do with anything?
It was known very early that brown skinned people were more vulnerable.
That is false. There is no genetic predisposition to covid-19. None. Nada. Zip.

There are explanations offered for the statistics, and they have nothing to do with genetics. They have to do with food insecurity, economic disparities, environmental injustice, types of jobs they work, etc.

To prove a genetic component you would have to compare the outcome of the brown skinned people who happened to live in good neighborhoods, with good jobs and good health insurance and clean air and water. Until that study has been done, it is premature to claim there is a genetic component to covid-19 susceptibility.

platform.
  • for equality of educational and economic opportunity
  • for DACA and compassion for the immigant
  • against systemic racism
  • serious about climate change
  • closing the racial wealth gap
  • criminal justice reform
  • civil rights
  • national service, like AmeriCorps
  • clean energy
  • protect SNAP
  • rebuild infrastructure, putting people to work
I agree. Remove the minority advantage given to education and civil service people.

Many blacks themselves do not buy into the systemic racism claim. They are more vocal about it than any white person.

America offers equal opportunity. Artificially closing the so called racial wealth gap is nonsense. The only way to do this is to build strong families with fathers present in the home. The democrats have incentivized broken homes for decades now. This must stop.

Civil rights? Who does not have them?

Clean energy - natural gas is very clean and abundant. COALition technology (clean coal works) Cars have catalytic converters for decades now. USA is a low emittter in the world.

SNAP is protected now for those who need it. A thriving economy means less people need it and the number receiving these benefits should go down.

GOP and Democrats both support strong infrastructure. Much of these needs are state needs and funded by states.

Climate change - before I take it seriously, someone has to answer this question - what is the optimal CO2 amount in the atmosphere and show me the empirical data to support it.

Seems we can’t support an administration that jails asylum seekers without due process, and separates their children, and in many cases misplaced them, or deported the parents without the children.
Obama administration did it too, both because of orders from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. You should read up on the “Flores” cases. (I’ll caution you. It’s quite a task)
The abandonment of the Kurds to be slaughtered, let’s not forget that either.
We’re sitll allied with the main government of the Kurds. They’re not a unitary group. Turkey regards this one group as a terrorist group, which the U.S. does too. Turkey demanded they move 30 miles back from the border. They offered ten. Turkey said it was going to push them back, and did. There was no “abandonment”, but we weren’t going to go to war with Turkey over 20 miles of border land that doesn’t belong to either of them.
Bolton writes in his upcoming book, per the WSJ.
Bolton has zero credibility. Even the anti-Trumpers admit that.
The reality is, a Republican President can’t do much to end abortion, and a Democratic President can’t do much to make it more liberalized.
Eventually, either can affect the outcome. But I do recognize the Democrats encourage prolife people to despair. We see that every election.

It is no surprise that you do not find the Democratic platform appealing. I didn’t expect you to.

On many issues left and right actually agree. The method is the difference. The left is suckered in by the victim card being played and make emotional decisions that actually enable the behavior they do not want. The right supports showing a person how to fish rather than fishing for them.
