As I’ve said I think the US response was quite good under the circumstances. China’s was awful.

Ruthann, you’re giving me some hearts.

Whatever has gotten into you?
Temporary insanity, I suppose . . . 😆

Just because we disagree on things doesn’t mean that I don’t like you. Most of the people here disagree with a lot of what I say. That’s fine with me. I like people who are strong in their opinions. I find that attractive. But what’s the most attractive is when their opinions agree with mine.

We all vote on the incumbent president based on our impression of whether they performed well our not. Historically, those who oversee really bad times do not convince a majority that they performed well. We will know the perception of the American people in four months.

You seem to be saying that no one gets to complain. I think that doing your part gives you standing to do so, but refusing to do your duty means you forfeit the privileges that go along with it.

With freedom come responsibilities; decline the responsibilities and the freedom goes away with it. But that is just my opinion, for what it is worth.

Here is where we are right now - sorted on deaths /million column (last column on the right)

So many Trump haters. The problem is the deep state is deep. Go read behemoth and get a good idea how the left generated Nazi Germany. Trump is the best option period if you know your history. Or you can keep sucking up leftist media and if you survive the American Holocaust you’ll do so with regret.

Oh but Trump is the Hitler I’m trying not to vote for. Go read young padawon go read. 😒

Sorry, as it is, Democrats support abortion law.
You might find it interesting that people from both parties have a wide range of support. In the vast majority of Republican legislation abortion is permitted for circumstances such as the mental or emotional health of mother, if the child is severely disabled, if the father was a criminal (rape/incest).

These standard abortion permissions (rape/incest/health) are the standard for Americans of all political views

Anyone who supports the Democrat agenda which includes abortion should never accuse others of being racist,
Have I claimed anyone is a racist?
You seem to run this against Republicans and it is very unfair.
The Republican party has been using anti abortion people’s deeply held views as a way to harvest votes for many years now. When the Republican party has been in control, they have still embraced the loopholes.
Speaking against those who are fighting for the pro-life cause.
We should define terms.

I define pro-life as the Church does.

Others use a more narrow definition, that pro-life means simply anti abortion with exceptions.

An even smaller group define as anti abortion with no exceptions.

Which definition are you using?

“Judge Curiel’s order finalizing the $25 million Trump University settlement means that victims of Donald Trump’s fraudulent university will finally receive the relief they deserve. We are particularly pleased that the final settlement we negotiated with class counsel ensures that members of the class will receive an even higher settlement than anyone originally anticipated.

This settlement marked a stunning reversal by President Trump, who for years refused to compensate the victims of his sham university.

My office won’t hesitate to hold those who commit fraud accountable, no matter how rich or powerful they may be.”

Confidence tricks exploit typical human characteristics such as greed, dishonesty, vanity, opportunism, lust, compassion, credulity, irresponsibility, desperation, and naïvety. As such, there is no consistent profile of a confidence trick victim; the common factor is simply that the victim relies on the good faith of the con artist. Victims of investment scams tend to show an incautious level of greed and gullibility, and many con artists target the elderly, but even alert and educated people may be taken in by other forms of a confidence trick.[8] Researchers Huang and Orbach argue:[1]
Cons succeed for inducing judgment errors—chiefly, errors arising from imperfect information and cognitive biases. In popular culture and among professional con men, the human vulnerabilities that cons exploit are depicted as ‘dishonesty,’ ‘greed,’ and ‘gullibility’ of the marks. Dishonesty, often represented by the expression ‘you can’t cheat an honest man,’ refers to the willingness of marks to participate in unlawful acts, such as rigged gambling and embezzlement. Greed, the desire to ‘get something for nothing,’ is a shorthand expression of marks’ beliefs that too-good-to-be-true gains are realistic. Gullibility reflects beliefs that marks are ‘suckers’ and ‘fools’ for entering into costly voluntary exchanges. Judicial opinions occasionally echo these sentiments.

Anyone who supports the Democrat agenda which includes abortion should never accuse others of being racist, let alone, I find it repugnant that one could ever support such things.
I do not support the abortion plank of the Democratic platform, but it is hardly racist. If blacks are being aborted in higher numbers it is because black mothers are choosing to abort their babies. There is nothing in the laws that specifically calls for black abortions. Why are they doing that? I don’t know. But it could be their insecurity. Fix that and you will eliminate a lot of abortions.

He announced ready for trial until the Judge spoiled any possibility of an unbiased jury by releasing to the press the unchallenged assertions of the plaintiffs in full detail. Judges usually will not do that. After Curiel did it, then and only then did Trump settle. The judge basically forced a settlement by doing something a judge should not do.

Texas and Florida that are having outbreaks now (but not near as bad as NY, Spain, Italy, UK BTW) are having a really difficult time controlling it, yet the deaths (a lagging indicator but we are a month past the spike) are not nearly as bad
That can be attributed to changes in treatment protocols. We now know that this disease is not a respiratory disease like we thought. It is a vascular disease, attaching to the small blood vessels and affecting the kidneys, liver, intestines, brain, as well as the lungs. This added understanding helps prevent many deaths. But of those that survive, many have permanent lung damage, brain damage, kidney failure etc. Then there is the changing demographics of who is getting the virus. They are younger than before. So naturally the death rate is going down. But we could do so much better with better leadership.

Also, we have a constitution that might make some measures impractical or illegal.
None of the measures that our public health officials have called for have been of that sort, despite some people’s claim that they have a constitutional right to go around in public without a mask.
Again, what does that prove as far a response when you factor in other variables which I’m not going to continue to repeat.
Variables have been mentioned, but which public health official is saying those variables explain the bad outcome here?
We are not communists that implement mandatory anything at the risk of imprisonment.
Try going anywhere in public without wearing any pants. See how far that gets you.
Now, it’s been in the news that those who argued so fiercely against hydroxychloroquine and zinc are supposedly responsible for deaths too.
Nobody argued “fiercely”. Trials are fine. But HCQ has not been shown to be any benefit - even with zinc (yet).

You might find it interesting that people from both parties have a wide range of support.
What is terrifying is the Democratic party’s lurch into supporting the mass murder of almost born children. Biden, once a pro life Catholic, is now committed to abortion “under all circumstances”.

There is no way a devout Catholic could support the mass murder of babies.

The Republican party has been using anti abortion people’s deeply held views as a way to harvest votes for many years now
Trump has been the first fully pro life President. For this, we need to rejoice, and support him.

In the meantime, we see Democrats standing up for murdering a baby a day before birth. There can be no justification for such behavior. None.
