We’re judged by what we try to do, not what we succeed at. By the standard being applied,…
I remember in elementary school getting a report card with separate grades for effort and achievement. But once I got to high school and to college, it was all about achievement. In the present case, achievement is the only objective measure of effort. In Trump’s case, I doubt he seriously cares about aborted babies, but he does care about the votes of people who do care about those babies. And so we have lots of lip service. But as I have said before, I will believe he is pro-life when he suggests offering free pre-natal and delivery services for any pregnant woman, regardless of complications and regardless of ability to pay.

I’m voting for Kanye West, at least I like his music,
apparently does not manage money too well
I have not heard anything about his stands on various issues, so until I hear about his proposals for America, I would not vote for him. I favor an end to overseas wars and an end to US intervention in foreign countries so I am leaning toward writing in Ron Paul , Rand Paul or Tulsi Gabbard. And at the very least, a candidate should oppose laws allowing late term abortion.

A brother Knight of ours is now on a ventilator. He is 38 years old, a lineman for a power company and overall a healthy young man. Has 2 young children, a wife, and just lost his father in law a week or so ago.

The entire family, including mother in law, sister, all have the virus.

It is now spreading through our parish community due to contact with them, whether at the rosary, home visitation, or funeral.

Will he survive? I, along with our parish community are praying so. Is it going to be a serious burden on his family even if he does survive. Absolutely. Will he have long term affects from it. We will have to see.

In Trump’s case, I doubt he seriously cares about aborted babies,
Whatever his own views, he is the first fully pro life President, and the effect has been wonderful. ALl Catholics should rejoice and support him, especially considering the Democratic party’s slide into support for the mass murder of babies. Not to mention their increasingly hostile attitude to all religious issues.

You have to show me evidence of access to that river.
You don’t have anything. Just what you have been told.
Likewise for you.
In fact as I outlined we have many minority access problems that result in reverse discrimination.
Yet the gap continues and grows. These programs you list must not be very effective.
Leaf, you’re excusing literally every unpalatable or anti-Catholic policy by Joe Biden on grounds that he didn’t do the act personally.
No, I don’t excuse Biden. On the issues mentioned, I disagree with him. But in comparison to the existential threat I believe is posed by Trump, I consider them of less consequence for now. After Trump is out of office, I will do what I can to oppose those policies.

Trump has been the first fully pro life President
Umm, no he isn’t. He has exceptions for abortion, want to resume federal executions, fights to revoke that ACA giving much needed health care to citizens, treats immigrants and asylum seekers horribly.

Might look up what fully pro life actually means. Just look to the Church for the definition. We can all agree on that one.

There is no way a devout Catholic could support the mass murder of babies.
No, and Biden is apparently not a devout Catholic. But this devout Catholic is going to vote for him because I believe on balance he will be much better for the nation, and that under Trump, the mass murder would continue anyway.

If pregnancy was a root cause of abortion there would be no births. 😷

Capital punishment is consistent in Catholic teaching as legitimate defense. Only recently Popes have spoken out that it can be avoided by wealthy nations as incarceration gives a chance at redemption.

ACA is unconstitutional. It also puts way too much power in the hands of a few over our health care options. Trump is a constitutionalist. This is better
handled by the states. The private companies are more innovative and that is what competition does. No competition means no innovation.

Trump is committed to law and order. We have immigration laws on the books, passed by congress, that were not being enforced. One can argue they were not being enforced since it helps democrats get elected and keep their gig going.

Look now at all the governors enforcing border control for health reasons. My my, how their views suddenly change.

Now wait.

You can be pregnant without getting an abortion, but can’t get an abortion without being pregnant. Maybe a need a refund for my college biology course I paid for 30 years ago.

I misunderstood. I apologize. Please forgive me. Thank you for clearing it up for me.

This is not Church teachings, but, a personal opinion piece.

Our official guidance

  1. Our 1998 statement Living the Gospel of Life declares, “Abortion and
euthanasia have become preeminent threats to human life and dignity because
they directly attack life itself, the most fundamental good and the condition for all
others” (no. 5). Abortion, the deliberate killing of a human being before birth, is
never morally acceptable and must always be opposed. Cloning and destruction
of human embryos for research or even for potential cures are always wrong. The
purposeful taking of human life by assisted suicide and euthanasia is not an act
of mercy, but an unjustifiable assault on human life. Genocide, torture, and the
direct and intentional targeting of noncombatants in war or terrorist attacks are
    always wrong.

Capital punishment in the US is not in line with the Church’s teaching. The offender can be placed where they are not a threat to themselves or others, which is what the Church teaches.

Hey, you skipped over his abortion exceptions. Thought we would let you off. NOPE.

Since you don’t sit on the SCOTUS, your claim it is unconstitutional means zero. The SCOTUS disagrees with you.

Might look at the actual numbers. Prior to Trump illegal immigration was very, very low. In Trump speak, we were doing a great job, the numbers were better than ever.

he is the first fully pro life President,
That’s twice you have asserted that. Understand that not all agree with that. Your opinion of what “all Catholics” should do is too far past what the Church has said to take seriously.
the 5 non-negotiables of Catholic voting
What you posted was a commentary on the Church’s teaching, not the actual teaching. The Catholic Church’s in the U.S. actual guide:

Forming conscience is something we all must do. Following the conscience of others is not a better option.

The church speaks of a properly formed conscience which is not the same as a conscience of convenience.
