Surely when it comes to insulting people and schoolyard taunts, our prez is in a league of his own.

The U.S. spends more on health care as a share of the economy — nearly twice as much as the average OECD country — yet has the lowest life expectancy and highest suicide rates among the 11 nations.
I have never seen a true comparison. In other countries, a lot of things get paid for BEFORE the point of service, like free medical school, special courts for medical malpractice suits, government paid malpractice insurance. Ours is all AFTER.
The U.S. has the highest chronic disease burden and an obesity rate that is two times higher than the OECD average.
It is true of some things. The U.S. is best in others.
Americans had fewer physician visits than peers in most countries, which may be related to a low supply of physicians in the U.S.
Might be due to the low supply of physicians. Most things people visit doctors for could be taken care of by NPs, and that’s often true even in physicians’ offices. But you get billed for a lot more than what the NP gets for the service.
Americans use some expensive technologies, such as MRIs, and specialized procedures, such as hip replacements, more often than our peers.
True. And our complex services are faster. You could wait months in Canada for a rotator cuff tear repair. Here, you could visit your GP about it on Monday and have the surgery by Friday.
Compared to peer nations, the U.S. has among the highest number of hospitalizations from preventable causes and the highest rate of avoidable deaths.
I don’t much doubt it. We also have far and away the highest immigration rate from third world countries where medical conditions go ignored or ill-treated…

I disageee completely.

What you call bullying, I call “he fights back.” As I’ve said many times, Trump is light years better than wimpy “leaders” like Mitt Romney, who’d stand there and smile in the face of vicious attacks.

And as I also said, it’s the dems who are constantly saying they want to beat him up; punch him; call him a “mother------,” want to blow up the White House, etc.

Are you going to die from that rotator tear. Nope. It might hurt, but waiting a few weeks ain’t going to kill you. Oh, and no you can’t in some places because elective surgeries have been suspended due to our poor response to Covid. 😆

Folks can make all the excuses they want, but we lag behind many other industrialized countries in medical care for the buck, and life expectancy.

The cost of an mri, ct scan etc, here is astronomical compared to the other countries. The US being the best at medical care costs, as in the highest is nothing to brag about if we aren’t getting the best results. It is as simple as that.

Leaf, this exchange makes me wonder what social media would have looked like when Americans were under rationing and blackout orders. Can you imagine??

You know, I never heard my parents complain one bit about the sacrifices they made during the depression or during WWII. Dad even signed up at 17 to be in the Navy.

And some folks want to call others snowflakes. Many must not have any mirrors in their homes. 🤣

I think he just enjoys saying mean things about people who he thinks have crossed him, especially fixating on their appearance (even though his is, ironically, not that great).

I don’t think the American public needs Daddy to model good behavior so the children will follow. American adults can make their own decisions based on their personal risk assessment.
Absolutely. Which is why none of my family bother with them.

This is usually learned behavior that carries down generations.

Don’t worry. They aren’t going to win
LOL never say never.
Once upon a time, every poll and pundit and expert swore on a zillion bibles we’d have HRC as president.

Literally nothing will surprise me in November. Because there’s literally no way to predict 😱

You have to fix most rotator cuffs pretty quickly or the surgical results are not very good. Sometimes, if there is enough retraction, the muscle turns to fatty tissue and won’t hold sutures. Going months is really bad and probably results in a lot of non-repairs.

But not publicly, in the news or his messages to the people. Tweeter in Chief is the master…

Well you have a point but according to what I’ve read the press gatekeepers sanitized some of his more outrageous behavior and language and he did sometimes use offensive language publicly, as in speeches. He delivered one speech apparently where he repeatedly used the ‘n-word’ but journalistic accounts changed it to ‘Negroes.’

He also said whenever JFK’s many affairs came up something like ‘I’ve had more women by accident than he’s had on purpose.’

i have talked to orthopaedic surgeons and an occ med guy who have said 6 months is way too long. I have seen surgeries considerably sooner than six months fail because of the size of the tear, the amount or retraction and the speed with which the muscle tissue changes. I have also seen considerably longer than six months go by with a young person and the surgery succeed. As between docs who are responsible for outcomes and online doctors, I think I’ll take the real live ones.

From the journal of Elbow and Shoulder Surgery, Wayne State U., it says:

All patients in this study had a previously asymptomatic
shoulder prior to injury and had sustained an acute, traumatic,
full-thickness rotator cuff tear that resulted in immediate pain
and the inability to raise their arm. While early surgical repair
has been advocated in these patients,3, 13 there is only 1 study
that has investigated the time to repair.2 Utilizing improvement in active elevation as their outcome measure, they
concluded that those patients who had their rotator cuff tears
repaired within 3 weeks of their injury had a much better
functional outcome than those who were operated on after
3 weeks time.

I don’t remember learning about quasi daily press releases of insults. Twitter hadn’t been developed.
