Why is the US Catholic church so obsessed with the gay issue?

I have seen it and they were not asked to leave. I have no idea if they have a sexual relationship and don’t care to know.
Just out of curiosity, how did you know they were a gay couple? I don’t care to know if anyone is having sex. I go tot Church to be with Christ and that is it.

Why would anyone discuss anything with a troll?!
  1. Calling someone a troll is a quick way to get suspended.
  2. Lilei obviously came here to discuss an issue that is near and dear to their hearts. That’s what the purpose of these forums are. for How can we possible bring them back to the church by calling them a “Troll”

Thank you. This means a lot.

Not all physical intimacy leads to sex. So if a gay couple that doesnt engage in sex comes to church as Bf and Bf that should be completely fine right?
Before we were married, my wife and her girlfriend used to attend mass all the time together and it was no problem at all.

Sigh…a child cannot legally, morally, mentally, emotionally give consent and therefore pedophilia causes great harm to a child. Idk the Church just moved many pedophiles around which seemed to just sanction their horrible actions…
And a homosexual cannot morally give consent to homosexual sex.

Hence why the Church tells both that they cannot act on their emotions in regards to sex.

It would be immoral for the Church to do so.

Two men were sitting together at mass and one was affectionately touching the other. In a very over-the-top, look-at-us, sort of way.

Several people felt they were looking for a confrontation of some sort. There was none.

The episcopalian church has no issue with this because it fully recognizes the Eucharist of the Catholic Church. They are aware I am a Catholic who is testing the waters so to speak. I don’t believe I can ever leave the Catholic Church. I love the Church very much regardless of our disagreements 👍
The Episcopals obviously don’t have an issue with much of anything anymore. But I assure you the Catholic Church definitely has an issue with the practice of habitually receiving communion in other churches. Do you think it’s something tbat even needs to be confessed?

Homosexuals wanting a confrontation about their behavior!!! No…say it ain’t so!

I am conflicted about it but I do consider Episcopal priests to have valid orders so I don’t know.

When exactly did you choose to be straight?
I was born this way. As were you.

I had a great admiration for Greg Louganis. I was saddened when he died of AIDS. But I never CHOSE to invite him out for drinks.

Sorry that happened. I have seen many straight couples do this and it is always wrong.

You misunderstand. It is the RC priest who needs to know.
Anyone else care to explain?

I probably need to find a different Catholic Priest. The one I currently see during mass doesnt like speaking to people much. At least, when I approached him with some questions(the nature of the Church, my feelings) he just told me to pray and be at peace.🤷

You see science is not dogmatic. When scientists realize they are in error THEY MUST change their view or allow for the new evidence to inform their views. I am not sure how th eating of poop has to do with this? Dogs have much quicker digestive systems therefore they don’t become ill as easily. Just because we are interrelated with animals doesnt mean we are exactly the same.
Where do you suppose science came from?
Did you know that some of the leading scientific minds work at the Vatican?
Did you know that but for the Catholic teaching institutions there might not be near as many universities, hospitals, research centers, and even schools for the poor?

You are bashing the very people who have made your “scientific”" theories possible in the first place.
Catholicism is not at odds with science. You are misinformed.

Yes yes yes and no. Not all of scientific theories are the result of Catholic scientists but some are:thumbsup:

I didn’t say “all”. What I am saying is that the scholarship you so greatly admire would not even be possible if Catholic priests and nuns did not make it a priority and available for the average person.
The Catholic Church has never been afraid of understanding or discovering God’s creation.
In turn, the Catholic church has the deposit of Faith, the Magisterium, and centuries of scholarship of Saints and Popes. All supported by Scripture.
To discount these teachings because one has unsubstantiated notions that differ is a bit vain, IMHO.

Perhaps enroll in a good RCIA program fro clarification on certain teachings.
This can be done one on one with a priest, if you seek out a Spiritual Director.

Seek the truth. Don’t simply seek a church that agrees with YOU.

The gay issue has been big in the United States since the Stonewall riots in the late sixties.

There’s been both violence and street fighting surrounding this issue from the very beginning.

It’s not just U.S. Catholics who are obsessed with the gay issue, it’s everyone in the U.S.

Young people who become activists and don’t have a sense of history, don’t fully appreciate the danger they’re putting themselves in.

It’s rare, but people are occasionally murdered for this.
