Why the negativity?

i assure you an invasion from the north is never the topic of conversation.
Why is this? Is it because they don’t take Kim seriously, because they think he will direct his ire against Japan or USA rather than them, or because they just don’t talk about it?

I don’t happen to know any Koreans except on a business level, and we do not bring up the topic of potential invasion, but I have had a Japanese boss who I was close to and she told me the Japanese do not worry much about disasters because they just figure that their death is up to fate. Is the South Korean mindset the same or different from that?

What I written I have written. I stand by my statements. These “Facts” you speak of, please do post them! Demonstrate to us all just how you’ve constructed your viewpoint. If you can’t trust my sources what makes your sources so much better?

the media reporting of them has increased. This creates a massive disconnect between the media reported world and the real one.
AMEN…people have a misbegotten idea that “olden times” were somehow better, more crime-free, you could let your kids just run around and play wherever, murders didn’t occur, etc. If you have done the least bit of research into history regarding crime and law enforcement, to say nothing of all the diseases and epidemics that regularly killed people off before we came up with treatments, vaccinations and cures, war deaths, disabled veterans, poor people without a social safety net, lynchings and open discrimination etc. you know that the old days were just as bad as today and most likely worse.

Take away Adam and Eve and Jesus makes zero sense.
Jesus would still make sense, despite the fall…the incarnation would have happened with or without the fall!
Absolutely! He is the fullness of life. We must still follow him through death into new life. But all that is another issue.

decades ago, in the former Communist country I lived in, we used however to worship teachers, doctors, scientists…
If you worship man you’ll always be disappointed. If you worship God you won’t be disappointed in the end.

Decades ago, in a former Communist country, most of my relatives and parents’ parents lived and worshiped God. My mother wrote to her mother to ask what Communism was. She wrote: “Don’t be worried, daughter. You have two political parties, we have one. But the children still have First Communion, we go to Church and observe the Holy Days and the traditions.”

It is human nature. Concupiscence - our inclination toward wrong. A sub-set of concupiscence is the failure to control or suppress our egos. This is the root of each and every human-related problem on earth. It is unchangeable, except via struggle on the individual level.

Negativity is just human nature. It’s easier to see the wrong in everything because it’s disruptive. I don’t think people are necessarily looking for the negative. I was driving home a little while ago and I was reflecting on things going on recently in my life. Good, bad and indifferent. It occurred to me as I pulled into my Brady Bunch subdivision that I have achieved everything I’ve ever set out to do and I’m still not happy. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very grateful for the abilities God has given and the blessings I have received in my life, but I think I’m at that point where all the “stuff” doesn’t really mean what I thought it was going to mean, and I feel like this is all part of the lesson God has been teaching me. People around me could say that I have taken on a negative tone lately, but I think I’m just being contemplative and looking at the next phase of my life.
Make sure that when you think someone is being negative, that you are not applying your own expectations of self on to them.

The uncontrolled exponential population growth is killing the planet, but we do nothing about. The Church is against the pill, most western countries ask for more children etc.
In your opinion, what is the cure for this population growth? Obviously, the pill has failed and the Church will never condone contraceptives or abortion. Will we let the world leaders cleanse the world of the “useless eaters” and commit genocide to save the planet? Or will we fulfill our destiny:

Genesis 1:28

God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.

The Devil fills our minds with these false worries when most of the planet is uninhabited! We haven’t even traveled past the moon and already we’re worried that the Earth can’t support humanity. Go to the stars I say.

This material world is for a short while. Jesus said we should be living for things of the kingdom not things of this earth because this earth will not be here forever.

That’s what happens in all countries. First, you locate the intellectuals, the writers and artists, and either they serve the cause or they end up in a camp or worse. Especially if they speak out against “the regime in charge.” The Church remained untouchable even after the National Socialists came to power in Germany before the War.

“The Reichskonkordat (“Concordat between the Holy See and the German Reich”[1]) is a treaty negotiated between the Vatican and the emergent Nazi Germany. It was signed on 20 July 1933 by Cardinal Secretary of State Eugenio Pacelli, who later became Pope Pius XII, on behalf of Pope Pius XI and Vice Chancellor Franz von Papen on behalf of President Paul von Hindenburg and the German government. It was ratified September 10, 1933 and it has been in force from that date onward. The treaty guarantees the rights of the Roman Catholic Church in Germany.”

What you have to understand about North Korea is that since its creation in 1953 there has never been a single year where it created enough food to feed it’s population properly. It generally has unfavourable farming conditions, but communism doesn’t help either. Anyway, it has always relied on foreign food, first from the soveit union and later China. The North Korean regime stirs up headlines and then demands foreign aid to quieten down, it is a game they have played for a long time and most South Koreans understand it.

That’s not an excuse to allow the devils work to run rampant on earth, just because it’s temporary. We can’t just shrug off the holocaust because there’s something better to look forward to in heaven.

It is a teaching of Scotus which is in high regard with the Church. EXPLORE Franciscan theology and spiritualism and get back to us before making such grossly false assumptions. The Joy is undeniable!

Most of the Catholics I’ve encountered in 65 years of being a Catholic are friendly, easy-going, positive and accepting of all kinds of viewpoints, even to some extent on matters of Faith. That includes almost all of the many priest/confessor/spiritual advisors I’ve had. My experience is that is that is 98%+ of Catholics.

Every community has its outliers and the Church is no exception. There are a handful of Catholics that are dogmatic, reactionary, Catechism-thumping “Shiite Catholics.” They seem to see sin under every bush and paint God as a vengeful thunderbolt thrower who is just waiting for a chance to send us to Hell. They seem to feel that life as a Catholic should suck, but you make up for it in the afterlife.

They will declare that YOU are in a state of sin for things you SAY, even though even by their own rules, they are not authorized to determine an individual’s sinfulness. If you ask questions about the Faith and don’t accept their doublespeak answers and their robotic cutting and pasting from the Catechism, they will accuse you of being a Protestant, or like a Protestant, even though they are acting more like Baptists than anything else. Funny, I have only run into a few of these Shiites outside of this site. I have run into more of them here than I have in the whole rest of my life.

But I have found this kind of thing on message boards in general. There are mostly nice people on most of them, but the medium seems to attract fringe personalities and self-appointed experts who take polarizing points of view. I take it in stride. I stay positive as long as other people stay positive. If they get negative, preachy, sanctimonious or insulting, they will not get any slack from me. I will not cede ground to bullies, even on the internet.

I hope his mom will teach him manners and how to behave in public before he leaves middle school.

Everything bad that happens is for a greater good. Look at the crucifixion and innocent man killed so that we could go to heaven. The holocaust had a bunch of stories come out of God’s human creation that were good about Christians helping hide Jews from the nazis . The dairy of Ann Frank and so on
