Mail In Voting I was reading is indeed, susceptible to fraud, very much so. So much that some developed countries will not use it.
Yes and it has never been a valid form prior to this election. If you live in this country, you are required to show proper form of identification usually your driver’s license in order to vote . ThinkingSapien pointed out a few other legitimate forms such as a passport.

The only exception to this have been absentee ballots which are allowed because the military and others are not living in the U.S. usually…

Voting rules cannot just randomly change because the Governor says so. Again the Supreme Court will take this up, I am sure.

There is no authentication to their ballots.
That is a bold claim.
How is having a witness say who I am authentic? It could be m brother lying for me. When you go to get a permit for a gun, can a witness identify you. Of course not.

When you are at a cash register and your credit card is questioned can a witness that you know identify you, of course not. You have to show you proper ID just to use that credit card.

Voting is a constitutional right but has restrictions. I can’t go into the polls and have a witness tell the poll worker I am who I claim to be. Again the courts will probably take some of this up.and at least clarify.

Georgia had 1 million voters and citizens who voted legally by showing valid ID’s want to know if these voters were indeed legal voterrs.

These numbers seem off the charts for voting. Are we to believe that 80 percent turnout was normal?
You may have noticed that this is not a normal year.
Usually we’re lamenting (or at least, some of us are) the low voter participation. Now, when it’s finally up to a reasonable number, it’s supposedly suspicious.

Get over it already. Each State has it’s own rules. My state requires ID. ID is placed in a scanner and scanned and your info comes up and you sign verifying that is you, they hand you the ballot. If your data does not show up, no ballot.

Now tell me which States allows for a witness!

It is not a normal year but it still raises many question for the courts to answer.

Yes your state required a scanner to verify that it is you but it did not just randomly put your name into the computer. You prior to this scanner had to go and verify to the state that you were indeed a resident of that state by showing various forms of identification and that is the only reason when you go into vote , your ID is scanned and that you are given a ballot. Otherwise you would not get that ballot. Each state requires similar requirements, proper identification because voting is such an important part being a US citizen.

You are making some wild claim that some states allow a witness.
so I ask again.
Now tell me which States allows for a witness!?

I am not making a claim that some state require a witness. I responded to PaulinVA, his post was

So, the ballot is mailed to an address.
Someone fills the ballot out
The voter signs the ballot
A witness signs the ballot
The ballot is mailed in or dropped off
The ballot is opened at the elections place
The elections worker confirms the person hasn’t voted already
The signature is checked against a source, mostly drivers license databases
The vote is counted

What steps are risky? Where can the fraud be perpetrated and not caught?
I was responding to this particular post on witnesses and if they are a legal or legitimate source because they are certainly not allowed when you are given a gun permit or your credit card is questioned, you have to show a legal ID.

This is for mail in voting. The voter’s signature matches a source. The witness is just extra.

I’m still waiting for proof that there was mail in voting fraud.

What source is that.? Voters can scribble, they can only sign part of their name I hope we are not talking about the USPS or UPS because I can tell you how many times I signed for packages that came in my husband’s name. . I am curious to what source they have that authenticates their signature? Does PA, Georgia, Michigan, Arizonia, Wisconsin and Nevada have something the Northeast does not have. We are pretty up to date on technology.

Drivers licenses.
What driver’s license? As a poster stated, signatures do change, people scribble, or do partial signatures. Even if the initial source for the post office and UPS is a driver’s license which I have not heard of but will research, how does that make it legitimate? What source did they use to acquire the legal signature.? Or who checked to confirm that the signature was indeed accurate? Or are you claiming that each person who got a ballot had to show a valid driver’s license to obtain the ballot?

Again, is it the UPS and USPS and are you claiming that the US Post office and UPS is set up to validate signatures correctly because when packages arrive, many people sign for them without a problem

Neither UPS nor USPS do signature verification for voting. I don’t know where you got that. I’d love to learn something if you have a link.

Now, maybe they are supplying technology to county boards of election, but I haven’t seen that.

You are the one claiming that a witness is required but also the voter’s signature matches a source and I am trying to figure out what that source is that you are referring to. So we have cleared up it is not the UPS or United States Postal so again what source is it? in the second post you said driver’s license? How?

Do you research things at all before you post?

Q: How do states verify signatures on mail-in ballots?

A: Many states will compare the signature on the absentee ballot envelope to the signature on a voter’s file (this could be from voter registration forms, ballot application or the D.M.V.), according to data collected by the National Conference of State Legislatures. Processing a mail ballot is time-consuming and can involve a mix of automation and manual steps. Envelopes need to be opened and ballots flattened to prepare them to be scanned for counting. One type of technology that may be used is automated signature-verification applications, in which a camera captures the voter’s signature from the ballot return envelope as it is being sorted. The image is then compared with the reference image from the voter registration database.

According to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the lead federal agency responsible for national election security, in the absence of an automated system, election officials may also use a mostly manual process to compare a reference signature, often with a hand-held scanner that lets a worker scan the bar code on the envelope, bring up the voter’s reference signature, and compare it to the signature on the return envelope.

Different states have different review processes if a signature is challenged. For example, the Colorado Election Manual details the process whereby an election judge compares the signature on a ballot with the signature on file. If the judge decides the signatures don’t match, two other election judges of different political party affiliations will be asked to compare the signatures. If they both agree that the signatures don’t match, the county clerk and recorder will send the voter a letter explaining the discrepancy and asking the voter to re-sign a ballot and send it back to them to be counted.

Nasty, will flag if we cannot keep it civil. I am not an expert but want to find out how 50 million new voters many of whom were mail in ballot got authenticated. You mentioned a driver’s license?

It says may be used so how common is it used? According to internet sources, only 30 states use verification at all.

The Atlantic…
Ohio, like 30 other states, uses signature matching as a fraud-prevention measure.
The envelope if there is even a signature on it. And they match it to a voters registration. People sign their name in all kinds of manner.
in the absence of an automated system, election officials may also use a mostly manual process to compare a reference signature, often with a hand-held scanner that lets a worker scan the bar code on the envelope, bring up the voter’s reference signature, and compare
Even worse which is more likely, we have a worker deciding if the signature is correct.

This idea that we can have mail in ballots and we are just suppose to accept that this is a legal way to vote yet have no real way to verify who got the ballot and who returned the ballot is causing a great deal of problems.

That wasn’t meant to be nasty. Just chiding you a little to take 15 seconds to find the answer to your question
Chiding goes a long way. Still I and many other are not convince that these voters are legal. Checking an envelop signature when there is one seems like a pretty low bar for authenticity.
