Getting back to the thread, I will be curious what the Democrats will offer at the Convention particularly with the Three Witches of Endor highlighting the line up. I just don’t see the appeal of using the FUD Technique: Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt.
I truly have no idea whom, or what you are talking about.

Well it’s a target rich environment but I’ve spoken repeatedly about the three women who are focused on pro abortion rights schtick: Cecile Richards Planned Parenthood, Nancy Keenan NARAL and Sandra Fluke Pill Poppin’ Poster Girl. Not sure whom or what they are trying to appeal to with this group.

Regardless of sex, age, or race, the big topic is the economy. I haven’t seen the full lineup as yet but no economists or wonks seem to be on the list. Seems like some young Congressman or Governor with some econ cred would be a hot pick given the situation. Those Dems with tough races are sitting it out and I understand Hillary isn’t speaking either.

I hope you will give reports on the action. I’ll try to watch it in the evenings.

Thank you Lisa for the info… I will give the same attention to the Democratic Convention that I did to the Republican…try to catch the highlights.

Be well,

John

New Florida poll shows vindication of Eastwood Strategy

Here’s another data point, too: the split among Florida voters to Eastwood’s speech was 49% positive to only 24% negative by the next day — presumably even after the avalanche of criticism for it. The overall split is positive in almost all demos except Democrats (30/45) and liberals (26/58). Majorities of independents (51/26), seniors (54/20), men (54/24) approved of it, but the biggest positive response came from Hispanics, 62/21 — even better than Republicans (58/12). Even women (44/25) and black voters (43/37) liked Eastwood’s extemporaneous riff on President Obama

Caution: As expected, those who watched the speeches at the Republican National Convention were disproportionately Republican. This poll does not attempt to measure how all likely voters in the state of Florida would vote if filling out a ballot today. It attempts to measure early movement among speech-watchers only.

DNC to feature Mt. Rushmore-like sand sculpture of Obama

Finally shovel ready jobs were created
:rotfl: SAND Sculpture! :whistle: <"Lon-don Bridge is fal-ling down …

Better get the State Department’s Chief Diversity Officer off the beer color interdiction case and get to the bottom of this subtle implication that his BIG boss is responsible for the disintegration of our economy (or is it society)?

Matt 7:26 And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. 27 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined."

Not the worst idea this Administration has come up with, but, man. I know it’s supposed to be the President but this face looks like a chubby white guy with a boxer’s mouthpiece.
I don’t think of Mt. Rushmore either. :frighten: I think somebody somewhere just discovered an empty catbox. :dts:

From the Washington Times:
Rains wash away Mount Obama in Charlotte, N.C.

A torrential downpour that struck Charlotte Saturday afternoon damaged the Mount Rushmore-style sand sculpture bust of President Obama — an ominous beginning to what many fear is a plagued convention.

Workers were trying Saturday afternoon to reform the base of the sculpture, built from sand brought in from Myrtle Beach, S.C., pounding and smoothing out the sand that had washed off the facade of the waist-up rendering of the chief executive.

The sand sculpture was protected from above, and Mr. Obama’s face didn’t see too much damage. But the storm was so strong that its heavy winds blew the rain sideways, pelting the president’s right side and leaving the sand pockmarked and completely erasing his right elbow.
Obviously, Bush’s fault.

Humpty Dumpty comes to mind. It’s losing support on the right? Rain coming in sideways? Maybe they should get a big piece of sandpaper and just scratch away everything that doesn’t look like the President!

Or Fox news. Guess the sculpture is a replacement for the Greek columns. Who knew they meant that Obama’s economy would be heading Greece’s way

How Clinton plans to upstage the president
Not since the feud between Ted Kennedy and Jimmy Carter tore the Democratic Party apart more than 30 years ago have two panjandrums of the party loathed each other quite as much as Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
And yet this week, television viewers will be treated to a remarkable spectacle at the Democratic National Convention: Clinton will stand before a cheering throng of delegates on Thursday night and deliver a primetime speech nominating Obama, a man he once dismissed as incompetent, as president of the United States.

The Clinton-Obama feud is the worst-kept secret in the Democratic Party. It traces back to the bruising 2008 primary campaign, when Obama’s surrogates lambasted Bill and Hillary for being “racists” and a Clinton aide said of Obama that he “embraces the politics of trash.” The animosity still stirs such deep emotions that a year ago Clinton held a secret meeting of friends and political advisers at his home in Chappaqua and urged his wife to challenge Obama for the party’s presidential nomination in 2012.
According to two people who attended the meeting, Hillary rejected her husband’s advice that she run against a sitting president of her own party. But that didn’t stop Bill Clinton from going on a rant about Obama.
“I’ve heard more from Bush, asking for my advice, than I’ve heard from Obama,” my sources quoted Clinton as saying. “I have no relationship with the president — none whatsoever. Obama doesn’t know how to be president. He doesn’t know how the world works. He’s incompetent. He’s an amateur!”
Why, then, is Clinton making a speech on behalf of a man for whom he has such little respect? And why is Obama putting his nomination in the hands of man he doesn’t trust?
My sources inside the Obama campaign tell me that the last thing Obama wanted to see was Clinton, one of the country’s greatest orators, standing at the podium of the Democratic convention and sucking all the air out of the place.
The president, First Lady Michelle Obama and their senior political adviser, Valerie Jarrett, all argued strenuously against offering Clinton a plum assignment at the convention. They wanted to relegate him to a minor, non-prime-time speaking role. However, Clinton, who is viewed as an iconic figure by the party faithful, refused to accept anything less than the all-important nominating speech and threatened to boycott the convention unless his demands were met.
The decisive vote in the matter, according to my sources, was cast by David Axelrod, Obama’s chief political strategist, who argued that the Obamas needed Clinton far more than Clinton needed them. Axelrod had long been aware that things were not going as well for Obama as the mainstream media reported. On the eve of the party’s presidential convention, Democrats had outspent Republicans 4 to 1 and had poured more than $200 million into negative commercials against Mitt Romney, and yet polls showed the race to be a dead heat, with Romney beginning to pull ahead in some critical swing states.
As he’s continued to revise the speech, he has received numerous suggestions from the Obama camp about what they want him to say. This, according to my sources, has made Clinton furious.
The Obama campaign has insisted on seeing the speech before Clinton delivers it, and Clinton has just as insistently refused to show it to them. As a result, no one — not even the president — knows what Clinton intends to say. This has led some Democratic insiders to speculate that Clinton will make not-so-flattering remarks about the last four years of Democratic rule in the White House.

DNC speakers
– Cory Booker, who hasn’t held statewide office;
– Julian Castro, who also hasn’t held statewide office but apparently is the best Democrats can do by way of a Rubio-esque Latino political rising star;
– Tammy Baldwin, who’s far left
even by the standards of the House Democratic caucus and is highly likely to lose to Tommy Thompson in this year’s Wisconsin Senate race;
– Kamala Harris, the AG of California and certified union stooge, who’ll likely follow Jerry Brown as Democratic administrator of the state’s Greece-like fiscal disintegration

From Politico:
Welcome to ‘Panthers Stadium’ (UPDATED)
National Democrats have repeatedly touted their stand against taking corporate money for their convention in September, and so it was striking to see two emails from the DNC host committee referring to the Charlotte venue where President Obama will speak as “Panthers Stadium.”

It’s the place where the Panthers play, but it’s actually called Bank of America stadium.

A recent email from the host committee signed by former Al Gore campaign manager Donna Brazile urged people to win a trip to Charlotte for the event, which will wrap “Thursday night at Panthers Stadium with President Obama.”

So, let me see if I have this straight: in order to appease their political sensitivities, they are renaming venues.

So I wonder if they are going to mandate that the main road leading the Charlotte International be renamed something else rather than Billy Graham Parkway?

My immediate thought was about building your house upon sand…

My second thought was that it doesn’t look like him at ALL! Yikes! Interesting line up but The Big Dog is going to be the highlight. I heard he’s not giving them a copy of his speech. That’s one I’m going to watch!

It is very egotistical to have a stand sculpture of yourself like Mt Rushmore. Wonder what impression that will give to the millions of Americans near poverty or unemployed.

Governor Martin O’Malley (D-MD): We Are Not Better Off After Four Years

That is the question of this election because Obama said regarding the economy ‘if I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one term proposition’
