Planned Parenthood will hold an invitation-only “Sex, Politics, and Cocktails” party at the Privilege Day Club and Night Club on the first night of the Democratic National Convention Tuesday in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The party will feature Cecile Richards, Planned Parenthood’s president, in addition to members of Congress and candidates Planned Parenthood has endorsed.
The pro-abortion organization often accuses Republicans of waging a “war on women” and frames itself as the champion of the average women, yet will hold a sex-themed party at an exclusive and lavish venue.
“Imagine a lavish nightlife experience in the heart of uptown Charlotte–centered around luxury and world class hospitality,” the nightclub’s webpage says of the venue. “An experience so rare, yet so necessary.”

At first I couldn’t make much sense of this statement. But then …

It’s genius! Here in the midst of the Obama years is a new job possibility. A new genre of comedy. Well it is a bit similar to the “demonstrating absurdity by being absurd” thing the Rush Limbaugh show does sometimes (which is also much funnier to those “in the know” if some people aren’t); but this might be a good “car game” for the kids to play on those family cross-country trips.

I am Catholic and I will be voting for Obama take the original statement.

I am _________ and __________________. Create blanks and fill them in with contradictory terms! Nonsequiturs! Baffling incongruities! How fun.

Some examples

I am a bricklayer and I like to use Jello Chocolate Pudding for mortar!

Germane to the thread:

I am a conventioneer and I like to drink milk and lead prayer groups.

and

I am a Democrat and ____________________. fill in the blank (funny).
You are onto something, CaptFun. It’s like MadLibs for Cafeteria Catholics. 😃

Why? Really, I just don’t understand. Maybe you could PM me or something because I actually want to understand why Catholics would vote for Obama. It just doesn’t make any sense to me.
For Democrat catholics, its about priorities, Swiss Guy: 1) government spending on welfare programs 2) taxing the rich. 3) gay marriage 4) ? 5) ? Somewhere down the list is abortion - if at all. Deep down, do they really care about abortion?

THe Bishops do not tell us who to vote for. As they say- there is no score card for voting.

Voting for Obama is not a sin at all.
But it is a vote for abortion, homosexual marriage, restrictions on religious liberty, and exploding debt.

Bishops do not need to tell people who to vote for, what they give are the teachings of the Catholic Church which clear on issues of central concern and which issues Catholics can have differing opinions on

Voting for any pro abortion candidate is a sin when you have a pro life alternative

Except in the case in which a voter is faced with all pro-abortion candidates (in which case, as explained in question 8 above, he or she strives to determine which of them would cause the let damage in this regard), a candidate that is pro-abortion disqualifies himself from receiving a Catholic’s vote. This is because being pro-abortion cannot simply be placed alongside the candidate’s other positions on Medicare and unemployment, for example; and this is because abortion is intrinsically evil and cannot be morally justified for any reason or set of circumstances. To vote for such a candidate even with the knowledge that the candidate is pro-abortion is to become an accomplice in the moral evil of abortion. If the voter also knows this, then the voter sins mortally

Not unless you consider that a vote for him is a vote for abortion on demand, gay marriage, embyronic stem cell destruction, complete disrespect for property rights, and the subjugation of religious liberty. Other than that, no problem.

Iow…the primary planks of the Democratic Party.
If their planks get much lower, we won’t be afraid to walk them. We can just center ourselves and paddleboard our way to sanity. :tiphat:

*(Look I know the above doesn’t quite “make sense” but it looks good, might be entertaining, has more style than substance, and is short enough for people to endorse loudly with a “YEAH!”)

When in Rome … (note the tHeadline Re: _______ ).

Not if you are invincibly ignorant of the evils of his policies, I suppose. But who can claim ignorance of the evil of his policies?

Ishii
Which evil policies? The ones that enables the sick to access medical care they could not otherwise afford or the ones that have existed since he was a child with no more than token opposition? And let’s not even go near the Mexico City Policy unless you can give me figures on abortions averted or caused. In the real world, the only similarity between cosmetics and politics are that they end in -tics.

And let’s not even go near the Mexico City Policy unless you can give me figures on abortions averted or caused.
The Mexico City Policy is about spending our tax dollars on abortion. I guess you are okay with that.

The Mexico City Policy only has meaning if it decreased rather than increased abortion. If it made no difference, it was pointless. I’m not okay with policies that are pointless or counterproductive, so where is the evidence that it actually achieved produced meaningful change?

But, you are okay with your tax dollars funding abortions. Thank you for clarifying.
