We started going to a counselor, who thinks we are at an impasse. She may consider going to a priest. She just doesn’t believe the Catholic Church and its teachings. For example, the Church being the true church, etc. She is stilling asking, after all these years we were happy and going to Methodist church, why the sudden change?
Here is my question, do I stay with the Church or get a divorce? She is very adamant about not doing anything with the Catholic Church.
What novena can I say that will help trough this?
mrh:(

Still praying…how is everyone doing?

Vester
We are doing better. That’s about all I’m able to say at this point.

Inch by inch, it’s a cinch.
Yard by yard, it’s too hard.

Sticking with the inches.

Pray for her conversion. Be careful what priest you go to see, I’m sorry to have to say it, but some may not be sympathetic towards you and suggest you give in to her demands if it bothers her that much. Please speak to him yourself first to see that he is on your side.
Why do you need to get a divorce? I don’t understand why it has to go straight to divorce…
Do not leave the church. God will see you through this but you need to ‘seek His Kingdom first’ and everything else will fall into place.
Stay with the church but do not discuss it with your wife… show her by your love that you are not any less of a person because you are a catholic.
Why is she so hostile towards the church?
Do you bring it up constantly? Do you try to convince her to convert?
If it is important to you, she should respect that. Why is it such an issue?
I would pray a novena to Padre Pio. He converted many, many people. He is a wonderful saint and a recent one.

Here is one prayer…

Dear God, You generously blessed Your servant,
St. Pio of Pietrelcina, with the gifts of the Spirit.
You marked his body with the five wounds
of Christ Crucified, as a powerful witness
to the saving Passion and Death of Your Son.
Endowed with the gift of discernment,
St. Pio labored endlessly in the confessional
for the salvation of souls.
With reverence and intense devotion
in the celebration of Mass,
he invited countless men and women
to a greater union with Jesus Christ
in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.

Through the intercession of St. Pio of Pietrelcina,
I confidently beseech You to grant me
the grace of (here state your petition). Amen.

Glory be to the Father… (three times).

And here is a site of prayers for his intercession…

Keep up with the novena on here and be sure we are all praying for you.
God bless

Hello All
I continue to do the Novena but my situation seems to get worse. I try to hope and pray and ask for peace within me but I am weak. I pray for peace and in prayer I am hopeful, but without it I feel hopeless and helpless. I feel like I an fighting a losing battle. My husband seems to have his mind made up that he is not going to work on our marriage. The damage is done he states and I should have appreciated him when he was here. I have asked for forgiveness and have swallowed my pride, and I continue to, in order to try to work this out. Thank you all for your prayers. May God Bless you and your families.

Sorry to hear this Kristen,
I think maybe now you should back off a little, give him space and pray, pray, PRAY.
Maybe he feels a little pressured by you. I think if it were me, I would stop all invitations to dinner, etc and let him feel what life could be like without you in it… I don’t mean it to sound like you should play games… but at the moment, he knows he has the power. He can say when he will or wont do things. Take some of that power back and do things in your life now, that show you can get on without him there. He may start to worry and then decide to make a decision in favour of the marriage.
I really want again to stress, that I am not suggesting you play games… be pleasant but do not talk of him coming over . Do not act needy and he may start coming back.
Kristen, he has you right where he wants you at the moment. I know you are unhappy, but try to find things to do that are positive and try to make your children happy, even if daddy is not there. I know it’s depressing, but God is always there and He is your strength and happiness now.
Let it go for awhile, don’t give up, but just step back. And leave it all in God’s Hands.
Of course it is your marriage and you do not have to listen to a word I say, just know that this may help…
God bless and keep praying!

I’m glad things are a little better. Still praying for you iamrefreshed.
I hope God gives you a miracle.

Nana, you have always replied to my posts and always given me a kind word when I have needed it. I will pray for you and your marriage. You are a very faith filled woman with a generous heart. God does not promise us happiness on this earth, but I know we long for it. Your husband seems to want to have a good marriage, (like my husband does as well) but does not have the skills or the family upbringing to deal with conflict well. He is so blessed to have such a loving and devoted wife as you. God will surely bless you. I think if we do continuous novenas, then some good will have to come of it. Maybe you will become a saint!
In whatever situation we are in, no matter how hard, we need God’s peace and I pray that you find that in your life. If we have His peace amid the storms, then it does not matter what we go through. I pray God turns your marriage around, and all these marriages on this thread, for the better.
God bless you!
Thank you Jules. Still doing the novena. DH broke a toe today, but where he would have gotten angry, he handled it like any man would have. WE had to go to a Walk in clinic and he was in pain, but he didn’t get angry. That is a plus and thanks to this novena and everyone praying for each other.

I won’t give up hope yet!! I had a bad day the other day, I guess.🤷

Jules 11,
Thank you for your reply. I was going to call my husband tomorrow and ask him about dinner on Sunday but I think now that maybe I will not. I know he knows he has me where he wants me, but I don’t know if that is what he needs. My counselor said that I need to be the hope of our marriage, but then also keep a close distance. I don’t want to be too needy. I did already do that. We were planning on taking our kids on a train ride next weekend and I cancelled that trip, but then I told my husband I was taking them. He said I thought you cancelled that and I said my dad and I are taking the kids. I have everything booked and we are going without him. I try to bring up happy times when we were together as a family and happy. He seems to focus on only my negatives and that I do no good. I continue the Novena for guidance and continue to pray for all of our marriages. God bless us all.

I know that a couple of people may still be on the first novena, but do you want to start the other novena I posted on this thursday the 27th? It’s very appropriate for me. It’s our 4th Anniversary!

So we’ll start on the 27th, a novena to Saint Rita. That ok?

This Novena must be said for nine consecutive days.

Novena to Saint Rita,

O holy patroness of those in need, St. Rita, whose pleadings before thy Divine Lord are almost irresistible, who for thy lavishness in granting favours hast been called the Advocate of the hopeless and even of the impossible; St. Rita, so humble, so pure, so mortified, so patient and of such compassionate love for thy Crucified Jesus that thou couldst obtain from Him whatsoever thou askest, on account of which all confidently have recourse to thee expecting, if not always relief, at least comfort; be propitious to our petition, showing thy power with God on behalf of thy suppliant; be lavish to us, as thou hast been in so many wonderful cases, for the greater glory of God, for the spreading of thine own devotion, and for the consolation of those who trust in thee.
We promise, if our petition is granted, to glorify thee
by making known thy favour, to bless and sing thy
praises forever. Relying then upon thy merits and
power before the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we pray
thee grant that…

That God may heal and bless all the marriages of these CAF members and that our wills may be perfectly in line with God’s will in our lives and in the life of our spouse

(anyone can add more if they wish)

as soon as God deems fit. Amen.

I did invite him to dinner against my better judgement and he said ok yesterady but then called today and said he had to work. I was dressed in a nice dress, dinner was in the oven. I said OK and I packed him things to go. Am I a fool or what? I am going to stop all invitations to anything. He is getting the kids on Sunday I guess and I said when he left I am off on Saturday and Sunday he said he would call. I have to back off and I continue to pray even though I feel this is hopeless. Thank you for all of your prayres. God Bless you and your families, I pray for you all.

So who’s saying the next novena starting on Thursday 27th?
Hi All,
I am in for the Saint Rita novena too!! I am having problems in my marriage too. I believe the enemy is trying to destroy where he sees happiness!!! Let’s not let him!!!

I know this might sound petty. Or maybe I am just not considerate with my husband (which I do try to be).

But my husband and I just can’t be around each other for too long. I wish he wouldn’t get so angry at me over this but because of his impatience with me and he’s quick to anger when I do something like interrupt him when he’s not done talking. (I don’t even realize I interrupt him until I see how angry he is all of a sudden.) Then I get my feelings hurt because he gets so angry, and then I react in anger when I am hurt because I don’t understand what the big deal is if I accidentally interrupted him. He gets REALLY angry. He will stop talking to be even up to a couple of days. Then I get really depressed because of it. I’ve apologized to him for interrupting and told him I would work on it but then I mess up and do it again and the cycle start over again. There are other things going on with us too, but too many to mention. I pray our Lord helps us change to be slow to anger and more patient. I pray that we can persevere in our marriage. I pray we never forget our vows. We are both craddle Catholics but he is also not very devout to our faith. We need peace in our home. It seems things have been spiraling downward. So I am definitely in so that God can heal all of our marriages.

So it starts tomorrow?

So all we have to do is pray this same novena prayer every day for 9 days? That’s so simply with all the blessing we will get! I believe our Lord will hear us and he will move mountains!!! I am so very in!!!
