**Hi ben, šŸ‘‹

Yes sweetheart, I would still Love God with my entire being! 😃

It’s these others that I am having problems with right now! ANSWER the question!

:rotfl: :rotfl:
God Bless**
We did answer the question in earlier postings. Yes, we would want to love God if there was no after life.

But the topic digressed to a discussion about what Heaven is - which is very revelant to the OP. Loving God and knowing/experiencing God’s love here and now on earth is a part of Heaven šŸ™‚

Sure because that would mean that this world could be heaven. And that would mean God would be here for those who chose him. But I will say one thing, even if there was not a heaven, and this world was it. God sure made it wonderful just knowing he existed anyway. Because as hard and horrible as this world can be, there is still a certain peace you can get from God that no man can take away. ITs a state of mind if you let it be.
Love your reply.šŸ‘

Oh yes, sometimes while at Adoration I just kneel there and thank Him for loving the way He does. I would so like to have a heart like His, one of my favorite prayers is: Make my heart like unto thine. I know I will never attain that, but I would so love to love others as He does.

Another reason I am grateful for the gift of life is because of all the love, beauty and just breath-taking things of God that I have witnessed, experienced and shared with others because of His love for us. My family, parents, my grandmother, sisters and brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc…my friends, the Priests and Sisters that taught me, being a daughter, grand daughter, sister, neice, friend, aunt, God mother, wife, mother, sister-in-law, and grandmother.
I have always been drawn to the things of His creation, most of all people of course, (then animals) but… the sunrises, sunsets, mountains, oceans, rainbows, waterfalls, stars, flowers, deserts, hills, lakes, you name it, if God created it, I have enjoyed looking at it, swimming in it, boating in it, skiing on it, gazing at it, just being able to share His creation with others.

Once when I was about 3 years old I found a tiny bunch of flowers (I believe they were called blue bells), growing under a large plant (older children and adults hadn’t seen them), because they were hidden by the plant and unless you were as small as I was then they went unnoticed… I ran to get my mother to show her, she saidā€¦ā€œIsn’t God good, he planted those there just for you!ā€ I always believed that, still do. He is so good!! He has given me the gift of that memory and of still hearing her voice, even though she has long passed on. I believe the reason why that particular memory made such an impression on me is because it was really the first time that I believed, or perhaps understood that God really did love me. He has given me the gift of so many other beautiful memories too and has made my life complete. I am so grateful to God for so many reasons.

I would still obey His commandments because I wouldn’t want to offend Him, (but I am sure I do several time daily, by my thoughts, words, deeds, and deeds left undone.)

Even with all the pain, sadness, and at times feeling broken hearted for various reasons, especially when ā€œlosingā€ loved ones, this world does at times seem like heaven on earth, thanks be to our good Lord and the Blessed Mother, the angels and saints, all who have been my life long companions. But…I do hope and believe there is more.
Beautiful!šŸ‘

LOL, but heaven is still created. šŸ˜‰

Created for us though, as God has no use for Heaven in and of Himself.

Damneeda, maybe you have an issue with how God made reparation for the INJUSTICE of mankind? You and I don’t even deserve to exist let alone have the ability to make choices and in reality/actuality be able to say ā€œNOā€ to our Creator.
It is only a human religion that can ever convince you…that you do not deserve to exist and you do not deserve to be loved.

I will disagree with you. You deserve to exist, and you deserve to be loved.

I will never negate or deny love or anothers right to it, because a religion tells me so.

I think the digression is actually quite interesting.

However I think it would have made the question simpler if if instead of heaven it read afterlife. Would you still love God if there was no afterlife?

And I think most of the answers would still have been yes. That to me proves that many truly experience the love of God in their lives.

Peace of Christ to everyone who visits this thread!

A priest once gave this one liner homily (can’t remember now what the readings were) for the faithful to ponder upon.

I have asked the same question of a few friends and got some good and some quite angry reactions. One said the question was stupid.

The question of course is purely hypothetical and every Christian knows there is a heaven.

But hypothetically, if there is no heaven, if this life here on earth is the only life that God is giving us, would you still love God and follow His commands?

Looking forward to some interesting responses.
I haven’t read the whole thread, so if this has already been asked, I apologize. If there is no Heaven, wouldn’t there be no God as well? And if that’s the case, when we die, we’ll just be nothing. But, if there were no Heaven, but there was (IS) a God, then yes, I would continue to love and serve Him just as much as I do now.

We only deserve to be loved because the God who created us IS Love.

I don’t believe in your God, yet I still think humans deserve love.

Not all of us ā€œneedā€ to believe in god, to love another person.

I also respectfully disagree. You and I and the whole Universe do NOT deserve anything. Everything is a pure Gift freely given and completely undeserved. That was exactly my experience of Grace šŸ™‚

Very very interesting ideas I would like to think and respond to at a later point.

It is great to accept a gift.

But christianity does not see life as a gift. Christinaity see’s it as ā€œgift that requires paymentā€.

Be grateful for your gift. Allow it to inspire you.

Just don’t let the gift of awareness of God, lead you down the path of false humility and human belief.

Christianity does see Life as a Gift.
The payment is called LOVE. šŸ™‚

How would you feel if after giving a gift, the other person didn’t appreciate it, used the gift you gave them to harm themselves and/or others, or even just threw the gift away completely?

What should be the response to a Gift - especially the Gift of Life?

The you misunderstand Christianity, because we are taught to treat life as a gift.

This gift does not ā€œrequire paymentā€, it deserves a fitting response, which we are free to provide or not.

Heaven is not just a state of being although it includes that as well. It also is a PLACE … and that place IS NOT just a state of being. There is a reason there is going to be a RESURRECTION!!! We are not just spiritual beings… We are body and soul. One day our BODIES will also be Resurrected and joined to our SOULS. Jesus and Mary already have Resurrected Bodies joined to their souls. All the other Saints await theirs šŸ™‚
Just thought you might like to know we know 2 prophets were assumed into heaven body and soul . Enoch and i’m prety sure Elijah.

What you bring up I’m not so sure about. My understanding is that the Resurrection did not happen until Christ rose from the dead body and soul. Before Christ, were there people already in Heaven body and soul? I’m not so sure about that … anyone know more about this?

i see something that may interest you as follows-
Human beings are good and can only do good. God created this world and us and this world and everything in it is good. God has programmed us so we can only do good. Man does do evil but before he can do it he must turn it into something good. eg. he deserved to die because of blah, blah, blah. So before we can do evil we have to make it good. The demons know this and never tempt us to do evil for the sake of being evil because they know they’ll be wasting their time. They present the sin as something good and this way they suck in millions.

Love is a good and God is love and he has programmed us so we can only do good or love. So you are right in what you say. But we can turn what is evil into love and indeed this is done every time we do something bad. Hope this contributes positively.

You are right about love. love is the purpose of our existence. The purpose of our existence is to imitate God the hioly trinity who is love, as follows-
As the father loves the son so we love the son. And as the son loves the father so we love the father. As father and son love the holy spirit so we love the holy spirit. As father son and holy spirit love all men so we love all men. And as father, son and holy spirit love each other, so God loves himself. So we love ourselves.
This is the purpose of our existence - to love God , all men and ourselves, and we are not happy if we don’t do it.
