Biden never called Blacks super predators. It was Hillary.
Again, the fact-checkers focus on inanities while the truth still gets revealed…

From Biden’s speech supporting the bill in 1993:
“We have predators on our streets that society has in fact, in part because of its neglect, created…they are beyond the pale many of those people, beyond the pale. And it’s a sad commentary on society. We have no choice but to take them out of society….a cadre of young people, tens of thousands of them, born out of wedlock, without parents, without supervision, without any structure, without any conscience developing because they literally … because they literally have not been socialized, they literally have not had an opportunity….we should focus on them now….if we don’t, they will, or a portion of them, will become the predators 15 years from now.”
And:
“The consensus is A), we must take back the streets. It doesn’t matter whether or not the person that is accosting your son or daughter or my son or daughter, my wife, your husband, my mother, your parents, it doesn’t matter whether or not they were deprived as a youth. It doesn’t matter whether or not they had no background that enabled them to become socialized into the fabric of society. It doesn’t matter whether or not they’re the victims of society. The end result is they’re about to knock my mother on the head with a lead pipe, shoot my sister, beat up my wife, take on my sons.”
And:
I don’t care why someone is a malefactor in society. I don’t care why someone is antisocial. I don’t care why they’ve become a sociopath. We have an obligation to cordon them off from the rest of society.”

Now we have “insight into the thinking” of Joe Biden.

I don’t know. I would think a strict constructionist or originalist would look at the words as spoken, and not exhibit activism to apply meanings that weren’t intended.

Even if specific words were not used the intention behind the meaning of what’s left doesn’t magically disappear. The “I don’t care…” lines that Joe used do provide insight into what he meant, no?

Right, like Trump’s words Re: bleach or white supremacists which he never said.

Again principles for thee but not for me.

Again from the Article
According to EIA data, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the United States was $1.838 on Jan. 19, 2009–the day before Obama took office. As of Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, the per-gallon price had risen to an average of $3.611–an increase of 96 percent.
Now let us look at some data points from the Bush’s time in office.
In 2002 the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the United States was 1.35
In 2008 the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the United States was 3.25
  • an increase of 140 percent.
Whom had the worst increase?

That is the issue I have with “fact checkers” - they pretend to check important or crucial facts in a claim or statement when they frequently just sidestep what is critical or important in the statement and target irrelevancies pretending they have done impeccable fact-checking…
Agree. One of Trump’s quotes about birds being killed by wind turbines was labeled false because MORE birds are killed by cats, cars, and buildings. I don’t see how that makes Trump’s statement false.

CNN headline.Trump dials back the anger but doesn’t back off all the lies.
This in light of JB’s lying all night about everything,in addition to his blatant denial of the corruption he and his family are involved with, so telling…

Again a fact isolated from context doesn’t mean we can conclude anything about the fact. What happened in 2008 to get prices that high? Was Bush a contributing factor? Was Obama during his tenure? Those are key questions that mere graphs cannot answer.

Meanwhile Trump gets two birds with one stone. He reminds the people they made the right choice not voting for Hillary who did use the words “super predator” but also gets everyone looking into Biden’s actual words to show the subtraction of “super” doesn’t make any difference to what Biden actually said. Twofer.

Agreed, so why even bring up the 96% issue at all?

So if we were paying $10 a gallon, that would be an even better economy as far as you are concerned?
Not $10 but Trump did want the price of oil to go up. It actually went negative for a couple of months until he got Russia and the Saudis from overproducing.

Indeed…like I said earlier. There were missed opportunities.

With this instance, the Biden team lost out on an opportunity to win the debate (albeit with dishonest means).
Think about it a second…Biden explaining “Look Donald…I never said that, it was Hillary. You think I am having problems with memory and you can’t even keep straight which of your supposed criminal masterminds is on record for what.”

Dishonest, perhaps.

But it also would have introduced a great deal of levity, and if someone can make the audience smile or laugh, they have won…at least for the day. Later people may go back and check it all. And give Trump the twofer. But I doubt it would have the impact after the moment.

So I guess both sides missed opportunities.
Of course, that is speaking as someone without a camera in front of me, in a recliner, eating popcorn.

Justify your position any way you like.
I encourage you to look at this objectively and not subjectively. You will see that the way Press treats President Trump and VP Biden are worlds apart. Constant attacking Trump and debating him, while Biden gets softballs. When Biden is pressed, you see the same attitude that President Trump has.

Press Biden like they press Trump, you get Biden acting like Trump.
Soft Ball Trump like they do Biden. Trump acts like Biden.

I try to look objectively, but I am bias as well. I do the best I can.

I didn’t watch the debate. Voted yesterday - well, delivered my absentee ballot to a ballot box.

I think Trump is so outsized and egregious in his conduct that he earns a lot of guff because that’s what he gives. He simply has amped-up interactions with everyone. Biden is much more low key. He gets irritated at times, but his default isn’t set there.

I think Trump being who he is which isn’t a manufactured disingenuous politician,he will win again in a landslide .Biden was rehearsed and rote and when he was queried about anything he wasn’t prepared for ,he got combative, deflective and basically exposed himself.
