I completely agree… Where do you get off saying to us Catholics, the first Christians, that we made up the thought that almost everyone is going to spend time in purgatory!!! Are you kidding me. That just makes me… well, not mad… * “They” know that going to purgatory is going to cleanse their sins, which is totally necessary according to the Bible… before anyone gets to heaven. That is a joke and protestants are being taught by a misinterpreted Bible and not the Church*, not by the Word of God. Unbelievable. They’re taking people straight to hell with those sayings and they don’t even know it. Plus, I guess they’ve never read the scripture where it says in Hebrews 9:27, 28 -
“Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people.” They forget that forgiveness preceeds sanctification but does not replace it.

You do go to purgatory when you die (suually) , that goes for all people. When you die, you’re either going to heaven or straight to hell. Jesus died once for your sins, you have to ask for forgiveness, not from Mary, not from the saints or to a mortal man, but Jesus Christ himself. It says it right there in the Bible & the Church. You can believe what a church teaches if its the right one… it lines up with the Word…(etc)…

I thought the bible was the word of god?

Umm, actually you don’t have to “fully know” about Catholicism to go to hell…if you are outside the Catholic Church, you cannot go to heaven, period.
This is not Catholic Teaching. Catholic Church teaches that Jesus Christ died for ALL, even those who do not believe in him. He wants to save every person. If they don’t believe in him through no fault of their own, they can still go to Heaven (Baptism of Desire).

That is just not biblical, the bible teaches that unbelievers are condemned. How can an unbelieving sinner enter the kingdom of God? That is a saved by works gospel and it is not biblical.

“He that believeth not, is condemned already.” John 3:18

Says the Jewish canon
Do you actually realise that these are the Jews who did not believe in Jesus and his teachings?

So what do we get when we prefer Jewish Canon over Church Canon?

Can we really say that we are Christian? While the Christ we believe in is not the Christ the Church has tought?

The Bible is a teaching of the Church. It is the Church which decides what to be in the Canon and what is not to be there. Why is it so hard for protestant to understand this?

God bless

Somehow, I think that that’s referring to someone who had the chance to, but rejected the faith anyway. How would some tribal village in the heart of Africa where no outsiders have ever been know that Jesus died for their sins? Is it their fault, and should they be condemned to hell for it?

No, they won’t go to hell for not hearing the gospel. If they live a perfect life they too can go to heaven but if they lie, steal and sin against God then they too will be held accountable for their sins.

Do you think that anyone that sins can enter heaven? If a sinner can enter heaven, then Christ’s work on the cross wasn’t needed.

Think of your own Christian walk and how you deal with sin and repentance, sacraments etc… you do that to purify yourselves so you can enter heaven.

No sinner can enter, if they haven’t heard the gospel then yes… it’s sad but the bible teaches that no sinner will enter.

Hmm. So I’d imagine that Heaven is quite a lonely place. We’re all sinners. Somehow, we believe that we make it in, don’t we?

If we are to enter heaven we must repent. That is why Jesus gave us the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

I agree. Nothing unclean can pass through the gates of heaven.

What is covered by the blood is clean and pure.

Umm, actually you don’t have to “fully know” about Catholicism to go to hell…if you are outside the Catholic Church, you cannot go to heaven, period. It doesn’t require an active rejection of Catholicism to be damned. We’re not just judged on what we know but what we SHOULD have known.
That is total bunk.
This a different gospel and thus heresy.

You are misleading someone here. It doesn’t say specifically that they will go to Hell, but the Bible does say that in Romans 1:18-20, 18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
19because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.

Meaning, the kind of God that nature reveals is a God of might, intelligence and intricate detail; a God of order and beauty; a God who controls powerful forces. That is general revelation. It’s in God’s creation that everybody knows him. God has graciously given us many sources that we might come to believe in him. All they have to do is call out to Him.

In Mark 10:23-27 says, 23Then Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!” 24And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again and said to them, “Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God!
25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
26And they were greatly astonished, saying among themselves, “Who then can be saved?”27But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”

Your only ticket to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. You accept him as your Savior and ask for forgiveness for your sins. It’s not about living a perfect life. No one can achieve that. That’s why you read your Bible every day and God will teach you through the Bible in how to live your daily life accordingly. You can have a great life here on earth, have wealth or just be truly happy with your life, but if it’s without Christ and without being born again, you’ll never see the Kingdom of Heaven.
