Wow, these statements are very upsetting in the context of this situation.
When engaged by an elder, respectfully back off and listen, don;t speak.
I am talking about the atrocious manners of these children, and the failure of their chaperones.
I certainly agree we should show respect to our elders and aged but here is a very good interview this morning on Fox. Around 2:26 minute mark you can see what Nick Sandman was really trying to do, keep peace and listen. There was also actually more than one Native American standing there. The Native Americans came and stood in the student’s faces. If he was playing a song for peace, why did he not explain that to the kids. He could have said this is a song for peace. You can also see a lot of the youth look for a few minutes and then go into their own world like kids do, not showing any atrocious behavior.

What I see is adults speaking and yelling insults at kids, adults walking up and getting in the kids faces whle beating a drum without explaining why and then lying about it, adults then all over MSM accusing these kids unjustly and then these kids are the ones who have to take the consequences for these “adults” actions.

They did not even know there was even any kind of an incident until they got home.
and because they have to be the ones taking the consequences for those who should have acted like the adults they are, these youth are not able to go to school and at present are fearing for their lives.

What a wonderful opportunity for these boys to live out the ideals they learned from Catholic education. Instead they threw out a bunch of ugly stereotypes to mock the Natives.

It does shock how many Catholics eagerly embrace the notion that the professional protester is a saint, even a Christ-like figure, while the young Catholic men attending the March for Life are the embodiment of all that is wicked and evil in the world.

You could think Phillips was the devil incarnate and agree that the boys should not have employed racist stereotypes to mock him.

Is smiling in the face of man accosting and banging a drum at you a “racist stereotype” now?

No, but tomahawk chops and faux Native singing are.
Truly amazing. A sixty something year old man gets in the face of a bunch of Catholic high school kids minding their own business, waiting for a long bus ride home, and it’s the kids that are at fault. Is it really surprising that so many young men are getting the message from the Church that “we don’t want your kind here” and acting on it?

Just an aside, after watching the video linked, I didn’t see where anybody did a “tomahawk chop” and what singing I saw from the high school kids started some time after they were accosted and could easily be interpreted as singing with Phillips rather than mocking him. It reinforces my prior point that many Catholics are willing, on the slenderest of pretexts, to believe the absolute worst of their co-religionists.

Here’s a sensible take on the incident from Amy Welborn:

I think it has some good points to consider just in general on why we get all worked up over these viral social media video clips.

So, the Native American was the adult, never said anything to the kids, just got in their face beating a drum, along with other Native Americans standing by. Never once did he say, let me play a peace for you but just stood there beating a drum and it is the children’s fault?

Not to mention Mr. Phillips and the MSM lied about the whole event and it is very clear in the video that Nick Sandman tried to keep things calm, while politely listening. Plus on top of that much of the MSM has back tracked and apologized.

Looks that way. It’s the language of cowards to demand those surrender under the left’s mighty scorn.

Just harmless, blameless kids.
I can’t even understand what those yelling are saying. I can’t even tell from the video clip that the boys yelling are the same boys from the Catholic high school. We should believe that this girl is telling the truth based on her Twitter page because…?

Wearing a hat, smiling in the face of people accosting you, and attending a March for Life are actions worthy of criticism?
No. Engaging against the Black Israelites was silly. Refusing to yield to an elder and mocking him, that is worthy of criticism.

Have we really become so weak as a society that we get indignant at people putting up a defense in the face of malicious slurs?
Have we become so triggered that we feel that we must respond to everything?
Even the oddball Black Israelites?
It is no sigh of strength that people can push their buttons so easily.

MAGA” and “build the wall” are clearly discernible.
First of all everyone has a right to their opinion and their political opinion. If people choose to stand by President Trump and want to make America great then they have that right and should not be pre-judged based on their political standing.

Second, what we do not know is what transpired before that young woman stopped and had someone video tape her. What did she say to them? Do we know? No. Could she maybe have said something to them because they had on MAGA hats, which not all of them do. We don’t know what she said but because they are wearing MAGA hats and were at the March for Life and are Catholic, they are in the wrong. They are harmful and full of blame.

Where is the rest of the story in this video? Maybe some of more of this will come out too, showing she is not being completely honest and it is just another spot where everyone is going to jump to conclusion based on an 8 second video.
