It’s generally not considered friendly to mock someone’s language or culture. Some of the boys’ chanting is a fault of theirs, but they probably were just joining Nathan in his chant. You know, in a friendly way.

When engaged by an elder, respectfully back off and listen, don;t speak.
I certainly agree we should show respect to our elders and aged but here is a very good interview this morning on Fox. Around 2:26 minute mark you can see what Nick Sandman was really trying to do, keep peace and listen. There was also actually more than one Native American standing there. The Native Americans came and stood in the student’s faces. If he was playing a song for peace, why did he not explain that to the kids. He could have said this is a song for peace. You can also see a lot of the youth look for a few minutes and then go into their own world like kids do, not showing any atrocious behavior.I am talking about the atrocious manners of these children, and the failure of their chaperones.
Banging a drum is a stranger’s face isn’t considered friendly either…It’s generally not considered friendly to mock someone’s language or culture.
It does shock how many Catholics eagerly embrace the notion that the professional protester is a saint, even a Christ-like figure, while the young Catholic men attending the March for Life are the embodiment of all that is wicked and evil in the world. What a wonderful opportunity for these boys to live out the ideals they learned from Catholic education. Instead they threw out a bunch of ugly stereotypes to mock the Natives.
You could think Phillips was the devil incarnate and agree that the boys should not have employed racist stereotypes to mock him.It does shock how many Catholics eagerly embrace the notion that the professional protester is a saint, even a Christ-like figure, while the young Catholic men attending the March for Life are the embodiment of all that is wicked and evil in the world.
Is smiling in the face of man accosting and banging a drum at you a “racist stereotype” now?You could think Phillips was the devil incarnate and agree that the boys should not have employed racist stereotypes to mock him.
Truly amazing. A sixty something year old man gets in the face of a bunch of Catholic high school kids minding their own business, waiting for a long bus ride home, and it’s the kids that are at fault. Is it really surprising that so many young men are getting the message from the Church that “we don’t want your kind here” and acting on it?No, but tomahawk chops and faux Native singing are.
So, the Native American was the adult, never said anything to the kids, just got in their face beating a drum, along with other Native Americans standing by. Never once did he say, let me play a peace for you but just stood there beating a drum and it is the children’s fault? No, but tomahawk chops and faux Native singing are.
I can’t even understand what those yelling are saying. I can’t even tell from the video clip that the boys yelling are the same boys from the Catholic high school. We should believe that this girl is telling the truth based on her Twitter page because…?Just harmless, blameless kids.
“MAGA” and “build the wall” are clearly discernible.I can’t even understand what those yelling are saying.
No. Engaging against the Black Israelites was silly. Refusing to yield to an elder and mocking him, that is worthy of criticism.Wearing a hat, smiling in the face of people accosting you, and attending a March for Life are actions worthy of criticism?
Have we become so triggered that we feel that we must respond to everything?Have we really become so weak as a society that we get indignant at people putting up a defense in the face of malicious slurs?
Look at the ~2hrs video account posted at TPM. You may see something else. What I see
First of all everyone has a right to their opinion and their political opinion. If people choose to stand by President Trump and want to make America great then they have that right and should not be pre-judged based on their political standing.MAGA” and “build the wall” are clearly discernible.
