it doesnt, its just another way to skirt the issue. another hot button word, like terrorism. 😉

abortion is obviously evil, no doubt, but it has zero to do with the topic. lets stick to the issue please.
Actually it has a lot to do with the issue. 40 million babies aborted in the last 30 years. If they had been allowed to live I doubt we would need illegal immigrant workers;)

or have thousands of dollars to grease the wheels eh? Money runs Mexico people dont be naive about that.

Well, not if you’re lucky enough to have been born here.

still dont see the connection…there would still be Mexicans who would still be poor and would still need jobs. You do realize that the Bishops and Cardinals have taken a stand against this (immigration), dont you? or are they wrong too?

Hey! that knife cuts both ways doesnt it!?

I doubt all of them have… but the few that have… yes… they are wrong.

They sneak through Canada too. why not put a fence along their border and block them in?

So you know better than leaders of the Roman Catholic Church? If it comes down to following people like you or Bishops…I’ll take the Bishops.

Sure they would. But if there were no jobs in the US for them to do they’d have to make a living in their own country. Maybe effect some changes in the living environment as well; work to change the government, demand higher wages.

Now you appear to be grasping. I know of one Cardinal that came out against the one House measure. Outside of that, your comment is another logical fallacy.

Being a Bishop does not make you infalible.

While I do not claim to be in the know about the immigration process, 20 years seems to be an exaggerated amount of time to me. I’m not buying it. As a side note, as in comparing entering this Country legally today or in 1901, my guess is that it is a much more pleasant experience today.
My uncle waited for over ten years. My cousin is still waiting.

no but it does put you in a higher position of authority and knowledge than your average forum poster.

I’m not confusing anything, I’m well aware of the immigration laws and rarely does it take 20+ years to get your citizenship.
It took me 16 years.

wabrams:
Thank you. I don’t see anything about it taking 20 years to become a citizen, though. It does look like alot of the illegal aliens could have filed for a temporary work visa since they only stay a few years, make their money, and go back to Mexico.
It wrong to say that just because the govt. does say it will take that long that it does not.

Thank about it Wabrams. Why would people risk their lives, risk deportation, put themselves in a situation where they can’t get high-paying jobs if they could just apply and wait their turn. It doesn’t make sense.

It took my family over ten years and thousands of dollars in attorney fews to get our residency. And the worst part is we were the lucky ones because my father was well to do, we actually got approved for our first entry Visas, which did not allow us to work, or do much of anything but breath American oxygen.

Block them in? You mean keep out terrorists? No problem.

BTW: I’ve already said we need to do something about the Canadian border too.

Bishops can be wrong every now and then… just like those Bishops are now.
