Trump's incompetence makes Andrew Cuomo's performance look better than it is

The only thing partisan is the cover-up of the fact that plans and resources were in place and not utilized when it mattered. So much effort to conceal the truth.
I guess I see the current Administration as partisan both against Democrats and against Republicans who don’t bow and scrape or join in with the pretense that he is simply the best President the US has ever seen, a pretense which inexplicably started not when he accomplished something but essentially from the day after his election.

Barack Obama could admit that George Bush’s Administration had accomplished something. George Bush could admit that Bill Clinton accomplished something. Bill Clinton could admit that George H.W. Bush accomplished something. Previous Presidents could applaud their predecessors, even those in the opposition party and even though they had serious issues with much that their predecessors said and did. That isn’t the way our political machinery works now.

How much mass transit do they use in Florida? Let’s be fair, here. If Florida takes off because they have a very high population of elderly people, I wouldn’t think it fair to compare their survival figures to Utah.

Would you not be accomplished if you won the job you were seeking when MOST said it was NOT POSSIBLE??? Is that not an accomplishment?

You’re not telling me (shouting at me, actually) that he’s been hailed as among the greatest Presidents in American history since before he took office because he beat an opponent who was predicted to win in spite of her extremely high disapproval ratings? That’s the participation trophy standard for presidential greatness if I ever heard it.

Yes. There is a reason why people think Cuomo is doing a good job in thei crisis and DeSantis, let alone Trump, not so much. I ti sreally not so hard to figure out,
I’m not saying either is doing a bad or a good job. I’m saying that comparing the two is an apples and oranges comparison. They govern very different states.

Cuomo is definitely perceived as having risen to the occasion presented by the crisis, largely (I think) based on his daily news conferences, which I’ve never watched but I’ve been told were informative and allowed him to show a compassionate, consoling side of his personality that no one knew existed previously. I’ve certainly never seen him in such a light.

In times of crisis, people rally around a strong leader partly because they want to feel like someone in authority is protecting them and is doing whatever (s)he can to ameliorate the situation. Cuomo probably did make mistakes but I personally felt he was doing his utmost with the cards he was dealt, which is really all you can expect of an elected official.

Your comments echoe my thoughts re our President. Why he isn’t given this kind of grace by those who constantly attack him is very unfair and unwarranted.

On the plus side, he banned travel from China. On the minus side, he spent months diminishing the severity of the threat and essentially wishing it away (when he should have been using the power and scope of the federal government to prepare for it), presumably because he didn’t want to spook the stock market, which from all reports he is extremely preoccupied with. Once it hit us and hit hard, his behavior became more and more erratic - such as giving out questionable medical advice, including promoting untested ‘cures’, calling for defunding the WHO in the middle of a global pandemic, calling on protestors to ‘liberate’ states from quarantines that his own government counseled to follow, refusing to join in an international effort to develop a vaccine, suggesting he would only aid states that were properly sycophantic - all of this directionless windmilling set people on edge more than steadied their nerves.

On the plus side, he banned travel from China.
That could have been on the plus side if he had done it. Or had secured the borders against entry of the virus. But he didn’t. He went off the play book and secured the border against the entry of foreign people who had been in China. Now we have over 90,000 dead.

WHO is a problem and is in China’s back pocket.Trump is dealing with this virus on many levels. His medical “ experts” have misled him and the public early on with their erroneous predictions re this virus.Again he is doing as good a job as any president would be under these circumstances. He is right to be preoccupied with the economy. It just waiting to bust open again. It was going gangbusters up in til 2 months ago. If China had not allowed this virus to spread globally we wouldn’t be having the debate. Misery loves company. they unleashed this virus possibly accidentally, upon their own country. They want to be the global superpower,so they intentionally allowed it to
spread. If their economy suffers they want us all to suffer.,
The Dems are taking this opportunity to try and take Trump out.God will get they won’t succeed this time either🙏

What “erroneous predictions” miled Trump. Which of the actions that Trump took or did not take were worng, and how were they connected to him being misled by experts?

January to March is China. March through now is the rest of the world - predominantly the US.
China did a great job in mitigating the spread of the virus. So did, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, New Zealand … The countries that failed should take responsibility for their own failure.

You intentionally miss the point. China suppressed the fact that this virus was active in their country therefore allowing it to spread globally. If they had been more forthcoming the rest would be moot. Surely you can understand this

That is your contention, but the simple reality is that at the beginning of an outbreak, it takes some time to understand that an outbreak form a novel virus is occuring,
If they had been more forthcoming the rest would be moot. Surely you can understand this
We had information about the genome and the tranmissibility in January. The information sufficed for some countries to avoid major outbreaks. Others, with the same information did not do so well. The determining factor is not the flow of information form China. That fact is a stubborn one, even as much as people would like point elsewhere and “take no responsibility”.

The actual, stubborn fact is Fauci the “ expert” was saying as late as the end of Feb. we weren’t at a risk. He has since admitted as much that he was wrong. Don’t blame Trump as much as I know you want to.However it’s misplaced.Surely you can see that if you give it an unbiased thought.

Please provide a link that quote. I would to see it.

That is about the time that Nancy Messionier, National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases Director, spoke about the outbreak in the US as not if, but when.
Rather than being listened to by the POTUS she was dealt with.

Y ou can just get on you tube or google and find the video of Fauci. As into data and such as you are Im surprised you missed this very stubborn fact

Isn’t it well documented that he was warned about the dangers of the virus early on and didn’t do anything? I don’t see how that is China, the WHO, or Dr. Fauci’s fault. The buck always seems to stop with someone else with this guy (and he is finally paying the price - you can’t bluster and bs your way through a pandemic).

I just layed out the timeline in a previous post .Didnt you bother to read it?
