I’ve explained my position on the candidates until I’m blue in the face. Let’s just leave this a theoretical discussion and stop monopolizing the thread.
We’ve been talking about judgmentality most of this time, the other times when we were discussing whether the church can instruct the faithful whether they cannot support a particular candidate, and the non negotiables. Though I may note, you avoided the non negotiable questions, and didn’t really discuss anything about the candidates particularly, except that we should judge them by they’re character. If you want to end the discussion, thats fine by me, but please don’t end it with a claim that honestly isn’t true.

It’s generally considered bad form to call someone a liar on Catholic Answers.

However, we have this neat ability to ignore someone’s posts, which I’ll be using.

blackforest on Tucker’s true point about the left being
obsessed with “Trump”. . .
Good thing no one on the Right was obsessed with Obama. Oh, wait.
Thank you for tacitly admitting Tucker was correct.

Obama? Why not start a thread on him?

In response to the question posed by the OP: Love the sinner, hate the sin.
Yes.

I think that this thread has ably demonstrated that the definition of the word “hate” has been changed to: doesn’t agree with me on political issues.
I disagree.

I think the national left hates the country. At least the leaders.

Why I Love America

Dennis Prager has traveled all over the world. But at the end of every trip, he returns home with a new appreciation for America. Why? Because no country is more open, more generous, and has done more for the cause of freedom than America has.

Like those Democrats running the big cities, hence responsible for most of the systemic racism that they claim to be on about. Got it!
Great point!

It is not an accident that these examples of racism keep coming out of leftist utopias.

Just observe and see who generally continually lumps people into segregated groups based upon the color of their skin.

Compare what the Bible commands us to do about immigrants
billsherman. The left aids the direct cold-blooded murder of immigrants.

This facilitation of murder against strangers and sojourners is not of God.

The left pushes for wanton illegal immigration to get votes but also artificially drive down wages (defrauding the wage earner).

The left also want these people to pay their proverbial Social Security bill.

That’s part of what the push for illegal immigration is also about.

If it were benevolence they would be asking for the foreign countries to send their blind, lame, mentally handicapped, etc.

Worse still, it teaches us that people who dare to hope for that better system “hate” America.
Politicians tacitly supporting looting, burning down buildings, tearing down statues, pulling people out of their car and beating them up, and openly supporting tearing innocent babies up limb from limb is evidence of hating America.

This Bishops think it’s a good idea to look at a candidate’s integrity
I have.

Regarding Biden . . .
Supporting murder of innocent Americans,
running around nude in front of women,
“Marrying” homosexuals,
etc. etc. are all reflective of Biden’s lack of integrity.

If I buy a house and totally gut the house from the inside and make it the way I want it, it means I didn’t like the house the wat it was. I want to totally destroy what it was and make it how I want it
Or, it could mean it was in a great spot, and had great basic structure, but you saw a lot of things that could be improved. If you “hated” it, you wouldn’t have bought it in the first place.
Sure, people do that all the time. Sometimes they completely demolish the existing structure and start a brand new structure. @puer.dei

PragerU has some other insights on this phenomenon of citizens self-hatred of their own country and WHY they despise their own country so frequently . . .

The left’s America-hating mindset is toxic and does nothing to improve black lives. Actions speak so much louder than words. And yet—even the WORDS they try to silence.

Just remember that PaulinVA
when you are questioning what kind of actions people are carrying out
for people to draw conclusions
from those actions over.

Remember your own responses.

I’ve read that through multiple times and I don’t understand it. Are you talking about me drawing conclusions from my own actions?

EWTN is not the Church. The USCCB posted the Church’s view, which is less political that the focus on four or five topics. More to the point, it actually addresses the reality in a representative democracy that we do not get to vote for topics, but for people.

You can quote Catholic organizations until the cows come home. Authority is given to bishops.
So EWTN is wrong?
I think “wrong” is a imprecise. They are authoritative only to the extent that they quote the Church. Your link above is not the USCCB link and misrepresents the USCCB. Here is the voter’s guide from the Church.

FYI, if this five non-negotiable list was actually followed, the third party candidates would be garnering the votes.
But you are judging the persons character and that is too close for me to judgmentatlity.
For you, maybe, but discerning character for office is not judgmentalism. I recommend you avoid a career where you have to hire, supervise, or evaluate employees, for that is what we are doing. For the Church, judging the subjective moral condition of a person is condemned. Perhaps a definition is in order. When I speak of “character”, I mean the cumulative understanding of what a person has done in an effort to understand what makes him tick, not judge his soul. A perpetual liar, for example, may be so trapped by his habit he is not committing mortal sin. Likewise, a kleptomaniac may be psychologically incapable of stealing in some situations. So he would not be judged, but neither would you hire him as a bank teller.

Just want to clarify, the non-negotiables list that EWTN describes comes from pope Benedict in an address to the European governments in 2006, so actually the non-negotiables list is the the church’s view. I would take the authority of the pope, over the authority of the US bishops

There are other sins that are always wrong that aren’t included on the EWTN list.

Torture, for example.

Arbitrary imprisonment and deportation as well.

From Veritatis Splendor

"
Whatever is hostile to life itself, such as any kind of homicide, genocide, abortion, euthanasia and voluntary suicide; whatever violates the integrity of the human person, such as mutilation, physical and mental torture and attempts to coerce the spirit; whatever is offensive to human dignity, such as subhuman living conditions, arbitrary imprisonment, deportation, slavery, prostitution and trafficking in women and children; degrading conditions of work which treat labourers as mere instruments of profit, and not as free responsible persons: all these and the like are a disgrace, and so long as they infect human civilization they contaminate those who inflict them more than those who suffer injustice,

Nice jab, but really, the catechism clearly outlines what I’m saying. And if you have read the catechism at least you should know what I’m saying.
The catechism condemns rash judgement. This is separate from judgementalism, as it also applies a limit to judging behavior. However, it condemns rash judgemtent
  • of rash judgment who, even tacitly, assumes as true, without sufficient foundation, the moral fault of a neighbor;
2478 To avoid rash judgment, everyone should be careful to interpret insofar as possible his neighbor’s thoughts, words, and deeds in a favorable way:
This does bring forward one substantial burden for Catholics. With all the misinformation in the world today, we must be slow to believe anything we read to meet that criteria of sufficient foundation, and even then seek to find the most favorable light. “Trump haters” need to do this with his actions, as much as his supporters need to do this with Biden.
