You can't be both a Catholic and a Feminist

certainly you can be a Catholic and a feminist, if by the latter term you mean someone who advocates and sometimes takes political and social action on behalf of women for the purpose of safeguarding their rights and liberties. What you cannot be is pro-abortion and feminist, since abortion targets women in a despicably violent way, not only mothers but the over 2 million unborn females who will never be allowed to see life. the culture of death that produced the pro-abortion scandal also fostered a distortion of true feminism based on denying the essential elements of a woman’s being and identity, and that is just plain evil.

I take it as a feminist, there are things about the catholic church that you don’t accept?
Why do you assume that? Which of the women here who considered themselves feminists isn’t accepting the church? Where did they say that?

As a womn you are only made in the image of God when you are a perfect mother.
What about all those imperfect female saints who were never mothers? How many of us are imperfect?..just asking before you start throwing stones.
BTW, how are you doing compared to the converse “perfect Father thing?”

That statement throws your Mother Theresa example out the window.
There are Saints who were women and not mothers.
I was thinking the same thing.

My bigest problem with feminism is that it leads many catholic women to reject the following teaching of the church.
  1. Premarital Sex
  2. Contraception
  3. Papal Infallibility
  4. Holy Orders
and sometimes
  1. Sanctity of Life
When you call yourself a feminist how are we to know which of these you do or don’t subscribe to?

I don’t know any catholic women who call themselves feminists that don’t reject at least one of those teachings.
And I don’t know one Catholic who hasn’t rejected or at least questioned of these teachings. What’s your point?

And referring to your earlier post…feminism being like paganism…have you been reading from the Pat Robertson playbook?

Please explain. Here is a CCC quote, because people like them:

**2334 **“In creating men ‘male and female,’ God gives man and woman an equal personal dignity.” “Man is a person, man and woman equally so, since both were created in the image and likeness of the personal God.”

You did not understand what I ment. What I said is actually part of church doctrine. I truely hope that you understand what it means to be mother like? Do you not know what those qualities are? Does it mean that you have to have children?

Lol… why was Mother Teresa called “Mother” ?

think people think!

Methinks he doth protest too much. Goodness Kev7, I bet you have a blood pressure problem.

Oh gee…I don’t know…maybe you might ask before assuming…

That’s because the MSM (Yup…those vitriolic hatemongers) want to back all of us women who believe that we are equal (not the same, but equal to you men) into a corner! Dude! You’re falling for it!!! Don’t you see it!!! This is Satan playing with your mind! You need to get out more…and maybe meet some real feminists who are not Anti-Men, Anti-God, and Anti-Church. Most of us are actually quite…ok…I’m a pain in the neck no matter what. But, you know what? There’s one man (ok…maybe 3, counting some nondiscriminating inlaws) who thinks I’m ok. And I’m happy to be “subserviant” to him because he’s the best. He loves me…he supports me…he’s my best buddy! He has never placed me higher than him…because I’m not…but he’s never placed me lower, either…because I’m not. Stop falling for this MSM ****…and the weirdos who support it. Catholic means “universal”, right???

I never said I rejected any of them, actually. And I seek no justification for how I conduct myself and my affairs from someone I’ve never met in person.

(MORE APPLAUSE.)

Madame, you rock. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Your husband is a truly lucky man! 👍

here is something that John Paull II wrote…

Why do you need feminism?

"
Part of this daily heroism is also the silent but effective and eloquent witness of all those “brave mothers who devote themselves to their own family without reserve, who suffer in giving birth to their children and who are ready to make any effort, to face any sacrifice, in order to pass on to them the best of themselves”. In living out their mission “these heroic women do not always find support in the world around them. On the contrary, the cultural models frequently promoted and broadcast by the media do not encourage motherhood. In the name of progress and modernity the values of fidelity, chastity, sacrifice, to which a host of Christian wives and mothers have borne and continue to bear outstanding witness, are presented as obsolete … We thank you, heroic mothers, for your invincible love! We thank you for your intrepid trust in God and in his love. We thank you for the sacrifice of your life … In the Paschal Mystery, Christ restores to you the gift you gave him. Indeed, he has the power to give you back the life you gave him as an offering”.

Where do you live? Are you dateable? 🙂 that is if you are woman!
Ahhhh, that is exactly what I surmised! He’s a young fella, mad at women in general. Probably just broke up with his girlfriend who is a feminist!:banghead: C’mon kev7 if you share your views on this with the young women you want to date, you won’t be getting many dates. :tsktsk:

I must ask…why do you need masculanism?
Can’t we just all focus on what God has given us…EACH OTHER…(you bloody lout). I know you probably don’t see the affection (it’s one of my feminist traits), but if you dare to be as Jesus was, and look below the surface…you’ll actually find someone who’s struggling…just like you…who wants to do the best for her family…just like you…who loves God…just like you. So quit being such a goober! We’re all human!

AAAAHHH. Now stop that…or we won’t be able to beat up on poor Kev7 for much longer. Kev7, I think you’re great! Thanks for being so brave as to speak your mind…so we can change it! The world needs more like you (so long as we ladies can keep you in your place…hahahahah!)

You all have yet to prove to me that
  1. Doing the work of Christ under the name of Feminism isn’t wrong in the eyes of God.
2.That some poor woman couldn’t become distracted with the other “bad teachings of feminism” and become disgruntled with the catholic church.
