Respectfully, why would you ever want to expose yourself in a non-emergent setting?
Why would you want to let a mechanic look at your car when it’s not broken down? Cars need to be REGULARLY serviced every so many miles (whether they’re running OK between times or not) to PREVENT major problems and breakdown.
By the same token, men and women need regular health check-ups, including things like pap smears and breast exams, prostate exams and the like, even when it’s not an emergency. Because you can be ill in all sorts of ways (including having breast, cervical or prostate cancer) without having any noticeable (to you) symptoms. We all need regular medical checkups, including checking the reproductive system, because they can catch problems early, when they’re still treatable, and prevent serious illness.
Up until about 150 years ago ALL doctors were male - women were not permitted to practice medicine. So ALL women had to see males for ALL their medical problems - including your modest Baptist ancestors. This includes things like gynaecological exams, childbirth (when the doctor obviously needs to see the woman exposed) and the like.
Women, and their menfolk, didn’t have problems with the women doing so. And men didn’t question the modesty or fidelity of their wives when they went to a male gynaecologist, although the women obviously had the option of not seeing a doctor. Neither was there rampant sexual abuse of women by doctors.
What is it about today that makes the morality of the situation any different? A doctor is a doctor is a doctor. Why shouldn’t I worry about my husband getting assaulted by a male doctor? It certainly happens. Or myself getting assaulted by a female doctor? It also certainly happens.
And for the previous poster, who chose the male doctor for gynae exams because he was the best she’d come across - darn tooting I’m going to choose the best available gynaecologist, I owe it to myself and my loved ones to accept no less than the best medical care available. And I wouldn’t care if the best doctor I could find was man, woman or alien.
