hey JM, im so happy you took a second look. the alive people he taks are also in christ.
Where does it say that?
then the tribulation starts. revelations clearly mentions a second resurection. thats the one where he pulls the rope and they all fall into hell.rev ; 20,5…and rev 20; 13
The first one was Christ’s, with all those people being raised up from the dead in Matthew 27:52.

The next one will take place on the Judgment Day. We are already in the time of the Tribulation (I thought I would point that out just in case you hadn’t noticed all those wars and famines and plagues and stuff going on out there … 😉 )

thanks JM. you proved my point. You said that all the dead will be raised, but the scripture you quoted said that just the dead in Christ will be raised. see how people can read something, and not read it at the same time! some one please tell me what you read in Gen; 1,28… expect some one will get it correct. its just to prove a point.
that man is to produce offspring, populate the earth and have dominion over the all the creatures pf the sea land and air?

yes JM, there are wars and famine. let me assure you that we are not in the tribulation.matthew 24; 5-8… these are just the begginings of sorrows. read revelations and the plagues that happen. salvation is easy now. all you have to do is ask jesus to come in and sup with you and you with him. thats it. your saved. during the tribulation you have to be killed , lose your life. rev; 6,11. christianity will be outlawed during the tribulation. at least in america its not outlawed but we are moving in that direction. god banned from govt buildings and schools. etc etc. bless you my friend. feel free to ask me anything

hi onegod, but there is something else. just one word that escaped you. it has nothing to do with salvation or catholic or protestant, just history. somebody help me. thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut. but look again my friend at that

please share your wisdom with us,as i have read that passage many times.

hey SD, queen elizabeth used to say; christ and him crucified is all that matters. everything else is arguing over trivia. i think people are the same in christ time as now. we just have better mousetraps. we can understand just as good as luke or james. even bettwer…we have hindsight that they didnt. lots of people when they read scripture, dont notice a word or two and miss a little something. how about an example.lets go to genesis, chapt 1. everyone thinks they got that one down pat. so, can anyone tell me what Gen ; 1, 28 really means? yes, this is a test.
I was thinking a little further back than Q Elizabeth;) … I would say it’s quite a stretch to say we know Jesus as good as the Apostles… Is there something you know about Jesus’s teachings that the Apostles didn’t? Perhaps you are finaly the one to understand it correctly after 2000 years.

Who’s everybody that thinks they got Gen 1 down pat? I for one find it one of the hardest to fully grasp in the whole Bible… I’m real anxious to hear your explanation of Gen 1:28 though.

I would imagine it might have to do with conquering the earth, but please do not prolong our agony any longer.

hi bob. i want someone to tell me what they see in that verse, not someons interpretation. im making a point that scripture is face value but some people skip words or just dont realize what they are seeing. thats when they could use another person who has walked with the lord longer to point stuff out. not to interpret. a better word for interpret is twist. SO, anybody want to tell me what they see in gen; 1,28?
I think the point being made is the fallacy of trying to use personal interpreations of Scripture verses to arrive at theologial conclusions. The broader point being Scripture alone is not sufficient to determine th truth.

hi SD. it was late and i went to sleep last nite. but here goes. gen ; 1,28 does mean what is says. populate the earth. but notice the word RE-plenish the earth. it implies that the earth was populated befor man, and that man was to replenish it. as i understand it, the earth was a , if you will, a vacation spot for sons of god and other angelic beings. but things went wrong and a war took place that destroyed the earth. so, my friends, that one word replenish goes un noticed by most. it had to be pointed out to me. most things had to be pointed out to me, cause im not the sharpest tool in the shed

So you admit that there was some outside (name removed by moderator)ut influencing your personal theology? The Bible itself wasn’t enough?

hi walden,i dont understand. the bible wasnt enough? people point out things that i miss. its called learning. i take things at face value in the bible. i dont put hidden meanings in things. no personal theology. at least i try not to. im human. i think

It seems to me that you’re saying that you can’t interpret the Bible by yourself; you need help from others to “point out what [you] miss.” Funnily enough, this is *exactly *what the Catholic Church teaches regarding Scripture interpretation.

hi wanner, people are confusing pointing out with interpreting. which is understandable. what i did was to direct someones attention to a prefix on a word.i stay away from interpretations by taking face value the scriptures. some things need interpreting, or, if you will, explaining. for example; eye of the needle. i used to think jesus meant a sewing needle until i read somewhere that eye of a needle was what they called the entrance to a city. it looked like an eye of a needle. but they were made small so camels couldnt get in and poop all over the city.you see, this isnt interpreting, its explaining historical fact, which looks alot like interpreting, and i guess can be construed as interpreting.

I’m trying to understand where you are coming from. In one breath you say that the Bible is plain on its face and easily understandable. In the next, you say you needed someone to “point out” something you apparently missed. So which is it?

Back to the original topic, did someone tell you about the Rapture? The word is not in the Bible. Did you form this idea of premillennial dispensationalism in a vacuum?

No, it is interpreting.

From Dictionary.com’s definition of “interpret”:
  1. to give or provide the meaning of; explain; explicate; elucidate
Let me ask you something, johnpaul.

Let’s say that you and I both read Matthew 19:24, and both of us interpret it differently. How do we know who has the correct interpretation?

hey wanner, you couldnt have picked a more straightforward line .what id like to know is , how on earth could we differ? there are tons of scripture that are more controversial. ok, how would we know whos is correct? this is how i used to do it…id pray about it. the answer always came. sometimes a week or a month later, but i always got a confirmation.

Okay. So what if you and I both prayed about it, and we both felt that the Holy Spirit had told us that our respective interpretation was correct?

hey all, let me tell you a true story. when i was a young christian, i ran away from home. well, i walked away but i talked it over with my mother. i wound up hitchhking all the way to berkley calif. well, someone walked up to me, a girl, and handed me a book. i said i really dont need this but thanks. she wouldnt take it back. so, i dont know why or how, but i held on to that book for 2 weeks until my mom sent me a plane ticket to come back. i was still a minor. it was in my hand on the plane ride. i didnt even look at the title. i didnt know what it was. well, back home i continued to read the bible and i would come across terms and words i didnt know. it dawned on me that this book i was given was a bible dictionary. i was able to understand what i was reading. and what wasnt in that dictonary , i asked god to explain, and he would eventually get around to it. well, there you have it

wanner wanner wanner, you know as well as i do that the holy spirit dont play that. he is not the spirit of confusion.

My translation says, “Fill the earth and subdue it” - nothing about “replenishing” there. You sure you’re reading an approved translation?
